I think Arsenal fans could empathise with his desire to return to his 1st club, where the friends he's known there are winning title after title.
And he's shown gratitude to Wenger and the fans in subsequent interviews after his departure, and - say what you will about that (damage limitation, PR stunt, etc.) - the club will welcome him back with open arms.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be seething at the board and Wenger, not players that have waited around years and won fuck all. I think we all understand Fabregas leaving, but would the likes of Nasri, RVP, Clichy etc... really feel the need to leave if Arsenal was even remotely looking like a club that was going to fulfill their dreams.

It's the way he orchestrated his own departure, that he forced Wenger's hand, which is what pisses me off most.

It's not like we didn't try to meet his ambitions, we got Cazorla, Podolski and not-Chamakh and spent a fair amount of cash, showed that we do have ambition.
Sure, we probably wouldn't have won the title anyway, but could he have had more faith in Wenger to improve this team? Of course he could, just as Wenger put his faith in him through those injury problems.

If there's anything I could blame Wenger for it's not forcing Van Persie to run down his contract.
