Walked the promotion playoffs, and the risk taken to keep the big earners for this campaign paid off.
Consistent performances from the team throughout the season, but that's probably due to the medicrity of Ghana's second tier.
Standouts
Kweku Essien, Mohammed Adamu and Nana Eshun
Essien was the creator-in-chief in the team, Adamu was part of an ever-present centreback pairing, and Eshun should probably have made the right inside-forward role his own, if not for his problems with injuries.
Thing is, they're all wanting wages I can't afford to renew their deals, so they'll be leaving at the end of the season.
These two won't leave though: Mohammed Alhassan and Emmanuel Amaoko
Alhassan was first-choice for much of the season, and Amaoko was our Captain Fantastic, heading in vital goals to secure our promotion.
Both were able to accept lower wages to help us survive the top flight.
Then our 3 Amigos up top, Yaw Biney, James Gyimah:and Alex Tetteh
Gyimah was transfer listed when I arrived but ended up top scoring, Yaw agreed a new deal at the start of the season and showed why he deserved it, and Tetteh... He's pretty good.
Pre-Season
Anyway.... The decision to keep the high-earners took its toll on the finances:
1.3 million in the red, spiffing, absolutely spiffing.
It is a relief, then, that the club hasn't decimated my wage budget, only eliminating my wage surplus from last season.
The departures of the aforementioned trio should free up about 5k, though with future transfers coming in, I'll probably be about a thousand over budget for a month or so.

He did do that to sign Park Chu-Young though, what a great signing that turned out to be
We probably need a CB as well, beyond the trio of Mert, Kos and Verm is one Sebastien Squillaci, not a prospect I'm looking forward to.

Where do I start....
Ok, so for most teams in this tier the league campaign takes 6 months (November 24th to May 18th), which works out to 14 matches in half a year.
Some zonal leagues have only 7 teams, so that's only 12 league matches all season
But for the teams who have qualified (which I have), the season goes into overdrive, 11 matches between May 29 and 3rd July.
P.S. You're Singaporean as well?
Cheers, it's still rankles in my mind to lose that one match though

Brilliant way to start my tenure at the club, 18 players released after I decided not to renew their deals.
While on hindsight it probably was for the best, it did mean that we were short-handed for the start of this campaign, at least.
After ironing out transfer demands with my key players we managed to have a solid pre-season, with a draw against Hearts of Oak being a highlight.
But it seemed that we weren't going to have a good time this season - we were written off throughout the campaign.
Fortunately, that wasn't to be the case:
The decision to not make a profit on key players paid dividends, as we took the league by storm. Probably should have finished unbeaten, but that's but frosting on an already well-done cake, no?
I've added into the squad list a wages column, shows how the unsold key players had an impact in the squad.
However, as mentioned in the title, it's only mid season; there are 5 other zonal leagues, and the top 2 from each league form a promotion playoff league, where the top 3 from that league, well, get promoted.
These are the 5 other leagues:
11 matches in just over a month, 11 matches to promotion.
------
The Cup didn't go as well as I had wanted, going out on away goals after extra time.
------
Now for some bad news:
Probably why I decided to release the 18 players, leaving us $4k under the wage budget.
Not that it's helped anyway, hilariously low crowds (100+ in a 20000-seater stadium) and a weekly wage bill of $9k meant that we were bleeding money every month.
Here's hoping for more bacon come next season.
