We've sold Negredo and Huws in the last 5 mins of the window. What the fuck?

Hopefully ~£20m for Negredo and hope to fuck we have a buy-back clause for Huws

Yeah, it sets up very nicely with FFP but I can't say I'm too happy with this window now. Today's taken the shine off the signings.

I'm not getting why Monaco are loaning him out, someone explain.

The owner had a divorce last year/this year and lost £4bn to his now ex-wife and has basically decided to pull out of football.

He's also a massive ABU, I really wouldn't be surprised just to see him peddle United as a destination only because he'd want to write an article about how we fucked up the deal.

He's not ABU, he just doesn't like anybody that isn't Mourinho or Mendes-related. He spouts shit about everybody that doesn't meet that agenda, he's like Raymond Verheijen for transfers.

Not delighted that Falcao could be at United but this is still funny.

Worryingly, Duncan Castles has said it's done too and he's all over Jorge Mendes like a rash.

They need someone with at least some ball skills, to bring all their midfielders into play. Hernandez can't do this.

What Kevo said basically.

Especially on loan. Doesn't make much sense.

Nah, he'd be a good replacement for Higuaín as backup to Benzema.

Jackson's Vidal article is embarrassing.

It's actually an article about Kagawa, but he tags on the sentence:

Van Gaal has not ruled out a late move for Juventus’s Arturo Vidal or any further strengthening before 11pm on Monday despite high-ranking sources at United claiming there is a “very low probability” of more signings.

And for some reason puts 'Manchester United eye Vidal' in the headline.

He's a joke, he works for the guardian he should be above such blatant click baiting.

It's basically all he writes nowadays. Some vague rumour made to sound as if it's serious, breaking news and then given a suitably bullshit headline. He's awful.

Benzema's not going anywhere, and there seems to be a fair amount of people saying Falcao is going to City rather than Madrid.

Is Toby Alderweireld good?

Newcastle linked.

Was fairly highly-rated at Ajax but looked distinctly average whenever he played for Atleti.

That story has been knocking about for a bit. A proper City thing to do and very believable with Garry Cook involved.

Doubt it. Hasn't been what he was since the Agüero 90+4 season. Probably down to the fact he hasn't had a consistent defensive partner but he always makes mistakes. Cahill, Terry, Mertesacker & Koscielny have been better in the past couple of seasons imo.

This doesn't deserve a proper response but... your main gripe with him is that he makes the same mistakes but you Koscielny is the better than him? He's even more error-prone.

When was the last time Kompany was good?

EDIT: Oh it was Fernandinho that got skinned. Still, Kompany is overrated.

And yet he's still comfortably the best centre-back in the country.

Cleverley off to Villa for £8M and Kagawa going back to Dortmund for £12M. Apparently.

That's great business (if true).

Another Group of Death for us.

I'm glad UEFA are such a trustworthy and reliable governing body or I'd be worried that this was a fix of some sort.

On a more serious note, not only is this a tough group it's also a really boring group. Bayern and CSKA again.

Is it too simple for Man Utd to just play 4-4-2 with Mata and Di Maria on the wings? Playing the same basic shape as Man City.

Carrick and Fellaini may be passable in CM in that shape?

Neither Carrick or Fellaini are mobile enough to play as the CMs in that system. Fernandinho and Yaya just about get away with it, I can't see it ending well with Fellaini involved.

8 matches is for 3 things. The tap on the head, the clapping and coaching from the stands, not just the tap

True but a 1 match ban for 'sarcastic clapping' is pretty ridiculous too.

I don't think it's that harsh. You can't touch the officials, even if the contact was minimal.

He patted him on the back of the head - yes he deserves a ban - but it wasn't aggressive, 8 matches is way too long. It's basically just another example of the bias towards the big two/against everybody else in La Liga, Mourinho got 1 ban for poking Tito in the eye, Ronaldo's got nothing for punching Godín twice but Simeone gets banned for 8 matches for a bit of dissent.

Because we are only playing 3-5-2 because of a lack of quality on the wings and Van Gaal name dropped di Maria as yhe quality we need out wide.

Maybe. Personally I doubt that's the only reason you're playing it. I suspect the fact you only have two proper full-backs, a few relatively inexperienced centre-backs and you want/need to be playing Rooney, RVP and Mata at the same time also plays a pretty big part. Ignoring that for a second though, signing Di María doesn't really solve the issue of quality wide-players. He sorts the left out but then who would play on the right to provide the equivalent quality wide-play? Mata's not a winger and neither Valencia or Young are really of the required quality if that LVG's issue.

3-4-1-2 to continue for me.

I don't really see how signing Di María necessitates a change in formation, he's one of the most versatile players around.

Their head reporter, Wayne Veysey, just guesses half the time. He's been doing it all summer re: Arsenal news.

He also posts that he has "big news" on Twitter to generate hype, then waits five hours to post the link, which obviously ends up being total shit. He just takes educated guesses and some people take it as gospel.

Can't say I've noticed the Arsenal stuff to be honest but I'll take your word for it. He, Greg Stobart and Paul Clennam are all pretty good for City (which obviously I take more notice of than Arsenal).

He definitely does do the bullshit with links though. He's not the only one but it's very annoying.

I think they'll be similar, although I think if we sign Richards he'll be playing right back as backup to Janmaat?

Coloccini and Williamson play well together.

I assume so. The idea of Richards being signed to play as a centre-back is pretty ridiculous to be honest. He's just not good enough there.
