Just seen a Liverpool fan put on Facebook Balotelli + Origi + Sterling + Sturridge = BOSS.

Pass me the bleach..

I was just looking at some of this shite on twitter. I feel sorry for the rational Liverpool fans because they aren't half surrounded by fucking idiots.

Also a bit surprised Rodgers has gained the reputation as someone who can get the best of his signings, Toure, Alberto, Aspas, Moses, Cissokho, Toure, Tiago Ilori, Yesil, Assaidi, Sahin and Borini have all been flops or not done as much as expected. Plus Sakho, Allen and Mignolet haven't exactly been big successes.

Brendan Rodgers has very good PR people.

Would Richards really offer that much of an improvement on (the admittedly poorly developed) Steven Taylor?

Not from what I've seen of Steven Taylor.

They're completely different situations though. Balotelli's problem is less about the moments of stupidity and more about the amount of games when he just can't be bothered. Suárez never had that issue.

Has Richards been that bad?

Yes.

How is he shit?

I don't think I've actually seen him play since about 2011.

Short answer: He's regressed massively since 2011/12 after a bunch of injuries, he's poor defensively (specifically his positioning and concentration aren't up to scratch), not very good going forward and has lost much of speed and agility that used to make him so dangerous going forward and quick to react when defending. Nowadays he's basically only good if you ask him to run in a straight line.

Combine all of that with his injury record and the weaknesses he had even when he was playing well (i.e. not the best technically and iffy decision-making) and it's not remotely surprising that City want rid.

That is a very accurate assessment of Burnley.

Jamie Jackson has a terrible reputation around United circles too, and I can't for the life of me work out why.

He's a negative cunt, sure, but he seems to have his sources and know a bit about the movements of the club.

Nobody actually seems to like him. He's dull, sycophantic and rarely ever seems to break stories - for City or United. Generally he just rehashes common rumours or reports on briefs from the club. Ogden and Ladyman can be depressingly dull/negative at times but they at least occasionally break news stories. On top of that he's not a particularly good writer. Compared to his predecessor (Daniel Taylor) he's massive step down.

How fucking daft is it sending negative tweets when you're in such a small bubble? (Assuming they're real of course)

Weez Keys Louize is at it again in the Guardian's pre-season preview, talking about the top 8 for Sunderland. She also calls Sunderland's defence an 'obstruction and destruction' unit, and refers to Jack Colback as 'defecting'.

btw - WKL is a horrendously biased Mackem North-East correspondent for the Guardian. Felt Poyet was MOTY last year and Borini scored the goal of the season. It was a good goal, a bit like Wilshere's against Norwich, but absolutely no where near as good.

She's not horrendously biased, she's just horrendously bad. She tipped Spurs for the title and a host of Spurs players for individual accolades last season (Paulinho as player of the season, iirc), Along with Jamie Jackson and Paul Wilson she's one of the Guardian's worst football journalists.

Lost 0-1 against Cheltenham. Quite a disappointment to be honest. Thought we were good enough to beat them, not trash them. but I expected a 1 or 2-0 win

I made a rare appearance at Gigg Lane for this. Bury were pretty shit going forward but could still easily have scored a couple - Pablo Mills had a header stopped on the line - and were generally the better team. Cheltenham weren't exactly very ambitious though.

Nardiello and Lowe didn't really work as a partnership.

He was awesome last season when he played in midfield, he's just absolutely diabolical as a centre back which is fair enough

He was good at the end of the season but he wasn't even that bad at centre-back, at the time the entire defence was a mess. His problem is more to do with his lack of pace rather than being played out of position. He was great at Hull when he covered in defence.

£15.8m. He's not been that bad, he's just not been that good either. He's competent, nothing more nothing less.

Ron Vlaar is decent though. He's been practically the only thing holding Villa's defence together for the last two years.

Fair enough. Plus there's Joel Campbell too.

What do you think Arsenal would need for there to be a title challenge?

I thought that was a loan. So are Man City ignoring the homegrown quota?

No, we're just not going to name a 25-man squad.

I agree with Shola, though, £10m on Rodwell is a massive risk. He's talented but his injury record is appalling, he hasn't played more than 15 league games in a season since 2010/11.

We need to not play Giroud, Wilshere, Monreal and Arteta.

Harsh on Giroud and Arteta. I'm surprised that Monreal is still at Arsenal. He's rubbish.

If you're a Chelsea fan then obviously it's reasonable. If you're not and you like him then you're a fucking thick cunt. He's an absolute disgrace who spouts shite non-stop. If he doesn't win a trophy again this year, how long will it be with unlimited funds? About 3 ain't it?

Jeez, what a specialist in failure.

Yeah, this is getting pretty pathetic.

Felipe Luis cost Chelsea £27m didn't he?

His release clause was only £21m

I kind of find it slightly odd Atletico could spend that much on a player when, if you believe reports, they were trying to get Chelsea to lower their price on Torres because they couldn't afford it.

They've sold a fair few players, they've won the league, and they've just signed a big new kit deal with Nike (12 years, I think) they probably have a bit of cash to splash around. If they didn't do so with Torres then that just means they have good judgement.

The MCFC subreddit has gone to shit too with one or 2 users basically hating anyone foreign, then complaining about being downvoted for insulting people. It's great craic to see them getting pissed off

I unsubscribed from there ages ago, it was fucking shit. No decent discussion but plenty of wankers with bantz + trolls.

They owed money on transfers but so do alot of clubs people would consider rich.

The point is they had debts that they had to pay.

Southampton should be pretty safe to stay up, even with all the sales. I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Burnley and Leicester will get relegated and teams like Aston Villa are looking much worse than Southampton.

West Brom look pretty terrible too.

They also had a £30m bill on a training ground re-dev and were in a 'difficult' position according to a new director.

Also doubtful how committed the Liebherr's actually are anymore.

That's probably the most important thing. Katherina Liebherr's shown little to suggest that she's as committed to the club's success as her dad and Cortese were.

They haven't been in the financial shitter for years, they were loaded before they started selling all their players which makes it even weirder that they're losing them all when they can afford to pay for big contracts.

Before this batch of sales they owed ~£27m in transfer fees.
