the tone inappropriate – also absolutely, sorry but that’s what it is, and i stand by it – i hope you also have no issue with me pointing that out, because you seem to have missed that this was the sole reason for the argument, nothing else.

and with all due respect, i »don’t expect others to do the work for me«, @mons – i’m contributing to a game that i’m not even playing, and i spend a considerable amount of time to alert you to mistakes in the db. i’m not interested in the cut-out style, so there is no point to invest time in it. i provide sources, and it’s up to others to pick them or not. however, i have no need for dismissive remarks, i think we can agree on that, too.

i don’t search facebook exclusively, i have my personal techniques and approaches which work well for me. sometimes results are influenced by the browser you use, not so much where you end up (websites, twitter, facebook, youtube, tiktok etc).

couple of final comments on the topic:

the first issue is not the rejection of a picture, but the initial tone and way of communication. while the explanation why the picture was rejected is plausible, the later posts escalated towards more condescending and dismissive comments and heavy implications that i should learn the basics of submitting graphics. i found that inappropriate to say the least, particularly from a staff member.

this is the second problem: the consistent application of criteria – or rather, the lack thereof.

if they were applied all the time in the same manner, many questions would not even be raised. while i understand that a huge site like sortitoutsi has many staff members with different preferences and opinions, in this particular case, it does come off as arbitrary and random.

i have been browsing through the contributions regularly and for a long time to get an idea of what is added to the db, and it serves as an orientation. that was the reason why i referred you to my submission list, the percentage of rejected images is neglectable, which in turn shows that i am thorough with my selection of sources, and i’m not an inexperienced user. mons can attest to how tiring my attention to detail can be at times, ask him.

i’m a mod and graphics creator at football manager graphics, so i’m quite convinced that i know what i’m doing – and so is the site admin and the user base there.

anyway, so much from me. all good and moving forward.

we can agree on the fact that you don’t seem to understand a few things.

a) i’m not complaining about the pictures not being cut - if you had paid attention, you would have noticed i said i don’t have an issue with that. you are however, claiming that the active pictures are better, which is false, period. this is what i had pointed out. there are a few other things you misrepresented, but i’ll leave it at that, there are more important things to do.

b) look up what »tantrum« means.

i know how to search and find the best available pictures, no worries. don’t assume.
go check my submission list instead on how to appropriately assess someone’s contribution history. and we don’t need the imperial plural now, do we?

so? he’s not looking towards the camera in the active picture either, which also has the nice bonus of being distorted.

there are thousands of profile pictures in the db of people with few photographs, if at all, that do not face the camera or the photographer, current or recent ones.

the picture is fine and can be cut to 180x180. if you choose not to do so, that’s also fine.

the pictures i pick are the best available and provide an upgrade, especially in cases where the active image is between 10-15 years old.

there is no other available for the time being.

the fact that they removed trophies pissed me off to no end. while it’s a niche graphics thing, i had been working on and have released a pack based on vintage illustrations, not photographs, which was extremely labor intensive – there’s still fm 24, so not all is lost.

i have a portrait pack in the pipelines as well and was fearing they might have crippled the portraits graphics, too.

question to anybody who has tried out fm 26 beta: does it support faces for officials and staff, or is it now only players that have portraits?

the custom graphics thread at si mentioned player faces work fine, hence i wonder if officials and staff portraits have been removed.

support for trophies has been removed in fm 26 … completely idiotic move:

seeklogo or pinterest are not reliable sources for anything. anybody who just picked it up because they found it on one of those sites hasn’t done proper research.

either way, i made my point. keep the logo, even though it’s wrong.

no offense, but you don’t seem to know anything about the history of montserrat - most of the island was pretty much made uninhabitable in 1997 after a volcanic eruption. they had league competitions only sporadically before that.

after the eruption, most of the population left and there are between 4 to 6 clubs in total, salem fc is not among them. as a matter of fact, there is no proof or verified source that his particular club ever existed.

they had six championships in total after that, the last one being played in 2018:

the british club, on the other hand, only started its online presence around 2012:

either way, there is no indicator that the club, whose existence hasn’t even been proven, has taken a british lower league club’s logo. implying that it’s the most »likely scenario« is a huge stretch, to put it mildly, even more so without any evidence supporting this claim.

the logo is of the british club, end of story.

keeping it for the montserratian club in spite of that and trying to rationalize why it won’t be removed means that factual correctness is not of import here outside the so-called popular or major clubs and competitions, which saves me a lot of time, as i don’t have to correct entries any further.

the »copying without verifying sources« statement finds its confirmation here, funnily enough → just yesterday, a brazilian football logo blogger uploaded the british club’s logo and credited it to the phantom montserrat club instead:

there is basically no football activity anymore on montserrat since a volcanic eruption destroyed most of the island and a majority of the population left, so that chapter ia closed.

i have come across a number of graphcs here where people uploaded wrong images out of laziness or possibly trolling, zhis is one of those cases.

i would have thought that we don't add or retain logos based on assumptions and without proof, but no issue - noted.
