Updated with some rivalry info tweaks based on recent surveys that were done for D2 and D3 teams.

Also made MLSNP scheduling and playoffs for 2024 and onward largely accurate (except no “pick your opponent" for the top playoff seeds like they have IRL), plus more accurate US Open Cup qualifying from USL2. Some stadium info etc adjusted as well.

Check out the optional transfer file in the OP, this is not entirely realistic but sets a transfer embargo for the D2 and D3 teams until after the first MLS draft - this means they won't poach the best USL2 and MLS NEXT talent, at least until after the first season, meaning the first draft class isn't as useless as it is when they get a hold of it. The vast majority of the affected teams have a deep enough roster to handle it, and by the second season, they should have a slightly more settled roster including with free agents from January 2024 so they don't poach young talent as hard (not sure there's a way to just block them from signing D4 or lower players)

Cleaned up some NISA scheduling, added some attendance figures for some NPSL teams (for their cup games at home), made it so NYC play a few home games at Citi Field in 2023 like IRL. Really minor stuff like that. Trying to do one now where one of the LA derbies last year is played at the Rose Bowl but counts as a home game for one of them

Is there an option in the editor to preclude that?  I thought I tried all the different ways to tell the game that there's no promotion, but it's like the game's contract negotiation AI just can't grasp that there are lower divisions that don't involve that possibility. I don't believe it will ever be activated in-game, but yeah it's not ideal and I'd like to remove it entirely. In the meantime, just think of it as a way to get a leg up in negotiations

NISA is in there. You might mean NPSL. Honestly, at such a low level the stats are so low and the AI coaches act weird so it's almost meaningless to play, other than to get to play with your local team. Plus, enabling all those extra teams means they drop and sign players way too frequently, including raiding USL2 teams for talent and messing up the quality the game has sort of intended to go through the USL2 to MLS draft pipeline (bad enough seeing NISA, USL1, and USLC teams raid the USL2 rosters). They also produce useless youth intakes themselves and slow your game down.

Same with the amateur leagues. For now I just have a couple of the amateur cups with NPSL teams so they get some occasional morale boosts when not getting hammered in the US Open Cup every year, and for amateur teams so they get cup games in their stats and you can scout them if they have any actual players. They keep getting imaginary league games in their stats as a result of the division being inactive. Same applies to MLS NEXT players, they seem to develop fine with the league season remaining inactive (can't replicate the fall to spring season here anyway) but having a bunch of cups to play in and for you to scout (MLS NEXT Flex, Fest, Cup)

Nice!! The user Gum at the SI forums did most of the awesome work with stadiums on the file, including with the stadium editor, but that was nearly a year ago now so the more recent news wouldn't have been included. I think I recently added Detroit's planned stadium move, and NYC using Citi Field for 6 games last year. Will take a look at those other moves, I generally go with ones that look, like, 95% done given how frequently the IRL plans fall apart with this kind of thing

I don't see why not, if they haven't touched competition structures or done things like made clubs extinct, it should work fine. Although all of the transfer/contract changes will likely mean some MLS teams are over the cap now

The last one was just changing the USL Cup knockout rounds to no extra-time (straight to PKs), because they finally played them IRL (for the first time) and there was no extra-time. There is no “last update” in that sense, if it becomes apparent something can use a slight fix like that, I'll do it when I have time. You can start your career anytime, the database is already far more complete than most default ones in the game

Which stadiums? Casement Park and Windsor Park?

Download link on the right. This is for FM23 mind you, you might be able to port it over to FM24 but the U19 division would probably be messed up as h*ll and there would be a bunch of new people who would need the second nationality added

Added Scotland and Wales once I realized European qualifying can handle losing 4 teams (plus Russia) and still run fine

Make sure it goes to your equivalent folder to here:

D:\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024\editor data

And when you start a new game, click on the top right to make sure the box is checked to enable the database

Lots of little tweaks, nothing gamebreaking. Made NISA's schedule slightly more realistic, added the National Amateur Cup from the semis onward so that some NPSL teams would get extra games (idea being they won't be at constant low morale from losing in Open Cup, Independent Cup, or in some cases, Oregon Open Cup/Minnesota Super Cup games). Going to upload a newer version shortly that should fix the Steinbrecher cup semis not being at the same location consistently

Just updated with the dates and specific format they finalized on Friday (see screenshots)

For a bunch of teams I set it to $0 which in previous games would come up with some kind of number itself, but maybe not here. Let me know how it looks with your tests, in the meantime I might do something similar. I just gave them some TV money too (100K each a season) to reflect that big CBS/ESPN deal which should help

Thanks so much for the comment! I just cleaned up the Open Cup rules so that starting in 2024, the new format takes hold with certain MLS teams missing out and others sending their MLS NEXT Pro teams instead. 

Thanks for the links, I may have seen those when making some of the youth tournaments. I haven't fleshed out too much of the USL Academy/youth stuff because of the fact they don't tend to have newgens anyway so it would mostly be greyed out players? And they have weird rules that are hard to replicate so they almost work better as being imagined in the background (same as MLS NEXT regular season games)

That's weird. Maybe you can only hire guys if the II team plays in a league?? And obviously the US has its own crazy system and there's no “reserve” league for them to slot into (it would be cool if they could go into, like, USL2, but I can't imagine that's possible). So it sounds like it's just the game doing its normal thing that works everywhere else, but running into a brick wall because of the weird US system. I could try going in and checking the boxes for each team under “reserves” for “never create team” or whatever it is, but I'd worry that might have knock on effects elsewhere

@Charles van Nes The CanChamp file cleans up a few dates etc in that competition, but it's not compatible with yellowsweatygorilla's Canadian megapack (he fixes that stuff himself).

@Bubbers probably not but I can think about it. Gonna add Carolina to MLS Next Pro as they gave them a roster in the last update

Sounds like removing the Leagues Cup would cause the issue @cheezywheezy and it's just going for a high-rep team to fill the slot (or if NYCFC placed in the last Leagues Cup before it stopped being played). Not really a surprise that messing with CONCACAF's continental structure would wreck this, lol, it's meant as a wholesale replacement and could handle certain changes to the Leagues Cup but not removing it completely

Dude, look at the tournament in your save. Teams from Copa Libertadores drop down to the Copa Sudamericana, same as real life. 

I've expanded the Copa Libertadores from 32 teams to 48 here to include the CONCACAF CL last 16 (including any Caribbean or Central American teams that make it that far). 

So in Copa Lib, instead of top 2 going through from the groups, I have group winners + the best 4 runners-up. This leaves 8 runners-up, who drop down to the Sudamericana (in the past it was the 8 third-placed teams). As you can see, it's a very clean way to accommodate the new numbers and CONCACAF teams can drop down to Sudamericana. Given this I don't see any advantage to adding new teams in the early rounds.

Mate, do you even look at the tournaments before you post this stuff?? Lol, plus Copa América with CONCACAF teams is in the game already! You don't need to pay for stuff that's already there. But I have made a file that puts Copa América and Gold Cup at more realistic stadiums, that's at the SI Games forum and here. Gonna work on a version with an expanded 2025 Gold Cup

@yazeed1986 that's cool, they don't rush to drop local/domestic players as much? Did you have to do anything with player rep/CA/PA?

Has the update nuked something? It was working fine with the last 16 teams from the CCL, which included any Caribbean or Central American teams who qualified the usual way (either winning their regional competition outright or winning in the last 22 round). 

I just checked, still working fine… same way the non-US and Mexican teams qualify for the CCL last 16 normally, they qualify here. Can see Mount Pleasant playing in the Copa Lib group stage in 2028.

I updated it so they're in USL now, the latest update gave them a full roster. There's an issue with contracts in USLC though (and only USLC), for some reason it thinks every team is broke and won't let you offer contracts. Working on a fix

Probably the same teams in the same places but a lot of work, the game should use the same rules and format at least?

Just checked and it's working fine. Charles, are you running the latest update? If you check under “world” do you see the tournament in the list of other default tournaments like the Italian Youth Invitational?
