Yeah no sh*t, this is the same fixture amount as the default competition, which will start in 2025 in real life. Check my intercontinental cup file for the implementation of that December 2024 tournament, it's also true-to-life but more along the lines of what you're thinking (that classic 2-game tournament for the Euro and South American teams is done as of 2023).

Anyway someone said you don't actually need this file in the 24.3 update since SI might have fixed the fitness/preseason issue themselves

No, it's a lot of work (my local school is D2 so I definitely wouldn't stop at D1), and that kind of amateur set-up doesn't really translate to FM to be honest (lots of unrealistic player movement). Meanwhile USL2 does the same thing (i.e., produce players for the draft) and is already there, just had to be set up and fleshed out. There's a lot of history there

Cheers, thanks for the help. I'm reluctant to implement anything that reduces the big 4 transfer activity so much as that's one of the fun parts about playing in Saudi. To be honest I spent way too much time on the Gulf files last year only for this transfer stuff to make it unplayable after a couple of years, and with that happening again but even worse, I've kind of moved on from editing in the region. More likely to delete this due to all the issues than spend any more time on it

Wow not bad. There might be some glitches with bringing it into FM24 but sounds like it's working so far. Have you been playing in the Gulf much? I was so downhearted to see how bad the transfer AI is this year (top teams dropping all their Saudi players by, like, the first transfer window) that I haven't spent much time on it

I think the problem is mostly located to leagues like Saudi Arabia where the AI is seeking such high-profile players. The game developers haven't also made them sufficiently account for Saudi players in their squads, so the computer-controlled managers end up dumping them all.

In general, the AI gets worse as time passes, and it's particularly bad in leagues like MLS and Australia (which are default “playable” leagues) because they have restrictive roster rules like a salary cap. So it's not an issue of created leagues necessarily, it's an issue of the way the game handles transfer strategy being incompatible with the top Saudi clubs being in a playable league

Yeah, same as in FM23. I tried so many solutions last year and couldn't come up with anything. Unfortunately the big leagues in the Gulf are unplayable after one or two transfer windows due to the default transfer AI.

My best guess is those teams are targeting such high-profile foreign players, the AI gets confused and labels all their domestics “surplus to requirements” because it thinks it can do better. In default leagues like England and Brazil, it can find replacements - here, of course, they can't find anyone suitable and end up playing 16 year olds. It's why I stopped editing this further and lost my enthusiasm to port over most of my FM23 projects like the Qatar league, King Salman Cup, Gulf Cup etc. Huge disappointment but it makes sense, the default transfer AI is optimized for playable leagues and this is an unfortunate casualty

Brilliant! If you encounter any quirks with contracts, registration, scheduling, etc, PLEASE let me know. This will be a work in progress for a while as we try to make it release-quality. And watch this space for USL2!

Doesn't really interest me, especially since they dropped pro/rel, and to research all the formats and rules in order to do them proper justice you'd probably have to read Spanish. Try fmsite, that seems to be a Spanish-speaking hub for FM.

I usually just keep the top division active (at least on view only) so they have fluctuating form and morale going into CONCACAF games. Someone's got a fantasy Mexico file at the SI Games forum though where it's a 20-team top division with pro/rel

Just adding stuff that I see missing like rivalries and awards. It's totally playable now, you can start a new game. Although in the next few weeks you might see a D4 added along with more details like stadiums

Just do those edits in a separate file and load them at the same time. I don't imagine you can load nation rules in here as well, it's an international rules file

Nice! I think it should be fine. Does the first season have 18 teams in the Pro League? It switched from 16 teams in 2022/23 to 18 teams in 2023/24 but it should just skip the rules I have in there for 22/23 and start in 23/24 with 18 teams. That would be promising.

I don't have FM24 yet, but you might want to start a fresh game and sim (go on holiday) overnight or while you go out for a couple hours or something, just to make sure it runs through to 2028 and beyond with the league and cup finishing every year and sending the right teams to Asian Champs League

Will probably add a version for FM24 soon. I expect they'll deal with the overspending in the first patch or so, probably not worth trying to fix that ourselves until they deal with it

That's correct, but I understand that UE Olot, who only sign Catalan players (I have a file that does this), will sign players from the Catalan lands (i.e. Valencia, Balearics, etc). So this supports that in the football world, at least, they can be recognized with a second nationality of Catalan
