I can kill spiders, no problem. I'd go so far as to say I'm an expert at seeking out and crushing them. But if people could see how unbearably scared of spiders I am it would shock them. Like, if I see a spider in the corner of my room then that's fine. I know where the motherfucker is. I can prepare myself. But a surprise attack? Fuck that shit. Once I was lying in bed and a spider fell on my face. I couldn't sleep in that room for weeks without having to scour the area and check it was safe. That happened when I was 23.

Brief appraisal of games I need to finish:

XCOM - In progress. Really enjoying it though so this won't be too hard.
Asura's Wrath - Easiest game to complete and most visually pleasing game I think I've ever played.
Far Cry 3 - No urge whatsoever
Dishonored - No urge.
Walking Dead - Desperate to properly sit down and do this.
Binary Domain - Slowly working my way through this.
Dead Space - I liked the first two levels but I just can't be arsed.
Lego Star Wars TCS - I don't know why I own this shit.
Left 4 Dead 2 - Need friends.
Sleeping Dogs - About 3/4 of the way done. Decent game.
F1 2012 - Can't even be arsed to do one race.
Tales of Vesperia - I've done 10 hours and it feels like there are 70 more to go.
Fez - Have to get all 206%. Never going to happen.
Lost Odyssey - Need to do disc 4, four years after I bought the game.
Condemned - Need to just get the motherfucker done.
Bully - Randomly own the scholarship edition, should probably finish it just so that I can get it off my mind.
Beyond Good and Evil - Keep forgetting about this.
Tomb Raider Anniversary - Pffft

That's on Xbox. On PC I have a slightly different type of list:

Journey Down - Actually play it.
Syberia - Try and get into it, it's very dull though.
Silent Hunter IV - Have one decent campaign
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Give it more than an hour
Sim City 4 - Build a decent city
Broken Sword 2 - Start and finish the game so I can understand what happens between 1 and 3.
LBA 1 + 2 - Replay so I can call my purchase worthwhile.
Anachronox - Bought it, no idea why. Might as well try it.
Gemini Rue - Get it done, decent adventure.
Neverwinter Nights - Try and play it.
B-17 Flying Fortress - Learn how to turn the engines on.

I did really well yesterday and got stuck into XCOM, which is rally engaging and dynamic. If I can get that done I think I'll play Dishonored afterwards and just crank that out. The PC games are more games that are just here if I'm bored, but I need to close off some of the story based games on the Xbox before I get anything else.

I've paid a decent amount of attention to the development, release and appraisal of the game and for me the only reason to buy it is if you are specifically looking for a city building game where you have to work with other people in order to get the most out of the product.

Personally I've only found true enjoyment out of strategy games when it is just me doing what I want when I want. I don't like having pace dictated to me, nor do I like to have to rely upon people for my enjoyment.

I just don't like the fact the area for your city is miniscule. Once it's full up there's really not much you can do apart from bulldozing and refitting to eke out what little space there is left. I have no interest in running two or more cities. From my perspective if you want an authentic Sim City experience then you should get Sim City 4 and use mods, because Sim City 5 is not going to provide longevity.

Watched the whole thing and it was very impressive. The total package looks good and it means Microsoft have to at least equal them on all fronts in order to get parity. I know that sounds dumb, but what I mean is that if there is anything about the next Xbox that underwhelms they're going to get slaughtered. The way news is spread has changed so much since 2005, they need to come off smelling of roses, something Sony did very well two days ago.

Unable to watch Die Hard until next week, I watched Die Hard 4 the other night and realised how bad it is compared to the previous three.

It is, without doubt, the funniest film I've seen in the last ten years. I say this with much thought, it almost rivals Airplane for laughs.

Snore. It's never going to happen. What will happen is an increasing shift over to digital. If console makers push digital it works out for everyone, except consumers really, but shrewd management of the online shop works to convince them otherwise. With digital the console maker gets a cut of the sale, the publisher reduces used game sales and people don't have to leave the house to get games.

PC gaming doesn't exist in any kind of relevant physical manner when it comes to software and yet the PC players could not be more delighted. No one will take Steam to court about anything because they do nothing wrong. Sensible console makers can't easily manipulate consumers like PC players have.
