I've got a question about tax. The other week I got my payslip from work, it was £104.58 (£4.98 minimum wage x 21 hours), yet I paid about £21 in PAYE tax. Am I supposed to be paying tax on minimum wage, notwithstanding the Jobseekers aspect? If not, how do I reclaim this, is there a form etc? My employer didn't tell me anything about it, since we don't have a manager and head office sort out payroll.

Even the pubs in my village are infested with pricks. One of the pubs that went out of business in June was taken over by some couple just for the Christmas/New Years period, if it's successful enough they'll keep it open but it costs an absolute fortune apparently. It's a really old listed building but in quite a bad way, the beer is expensive (£3.45 a pint for fuck's sake) and the rent must be an absolute bomb.

I reckon shops would find ways around it. It's highly improbable that a large store like a Tesco Extra could remain open indefinitely, but I reckon that they could be open for longer than 6 hours between 9am and 6pm on Sundays.

I disagree with Sunday trading restrictions, given how most retail workers wouldn't mind working longer hours on Sunday given that they're mostly paid by the hour.

I doubt it'll be worthwhile. I've only got about £215 to my name, and the job's only minimum wage anyway so it probably would cost more than what I would get out of it. And besides I don't want to be unemployed again, doubt I'd get another job for a while.

EDIT: Should probably add that I started on 27/11/12, and my contract says I have a 26 week probation period. I understand that they can replace me with no warning if they simply don't think I'm 'suited to the role' (ie incompetent) with no ramifications.

What annoys me is when you get the shitty customers who get lottery tickets, I put them down on the till and they walk off with them and just put a pound coin down, not realising that I need to scan them, else I'll be accused of theft. What's also shit is when people win over £50 on scratcards and it fucks my till up, had to cope with no twenties or fivers.

The petrol station in my village went out of business a while ago. It's so annoying, the closest other petrol station is at the Tesco about nine miles away. Also, my shop's the only PayPoint in the village and the machine breaks often, and we close at 10 anyway. Upside is less competition for us on shit like cheap booze, cigarettes, mints, energy drinks, etc.

And also, North Korea has been teaching itself since the 40s that outsiders, the Japanese, the Americans etc, have been trying to kill them. They're more batshit crazy and willing to sacrifice themselves for the 'greater good', I wouldn't put them past a nuclear war.
