Cheers, hopefully an exiting time ahead.
It is quite interesting message this. Shandong have always been strong but their facilities are not world class, so for 56 of their youngsters roaming is quite something. Unsurprisingly Dongya are not there. Hopefully over my stint here the club will produce some players. For now I am going to have to rely on what is here and what I can import in.
Little sneak peek of what is to come ... and no, there is no cheating here.

Ninth biggest club in China. So not so bad, second out of three in Shanghai. Hopefully over time I will leap above Shanghai and eventually Guangzhou.

Despite Guangzhou dominance in China and that in the Champions League the league has suffered with other sides not being able to match the financial backing of Guangzhou. However the tide should change.

Time was calling. The love for Al-Shabab had faded and my time in Saudi Arabia had come full circle. I had done what I could with the club. Turning them from a near bottom of the league side to one of the biggest sides on the Asian continent. Two Champions Leagues trophies and a Club World Cup is nothing to sniff at. The club's famous academy was providing a high amount of quality Saudi footballers and if the right manager comes in then the structure is in place for a long future. Managing the finances will also be key. Success on the continent is what is needed. I left China in 2018 to start on the Asian adventure, but it is time to come back to China to finish the last part of this journey, conquering Shanghai.
History of the Club
Shanghai SIPG F.C. (formely known as Dongya) is a professional football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League. The team is based in Xuhui, Shanghai and their home stadium is the Shanghai Stadium that has a seating capacity of 56,842. Their owners are the Chinese group Shanghai International Port (Group) and "SIPG" is an abbreviation of their name.
The club was founded on December 25, 2005 as Shanghai Dongya F.C. by former Chinese international football coach Xu Genbao. The club would use graduates from Genbao Football Base, a football academy also founded by Xu to form their first team as they made their debut in the third tier of China's football league pyramid in the 2006 league season. They would work there way up to the top tier and the highest position they have ever finished is fifth in the 2014 Chinese Super League season. Shanghai Dongya also earns its fame largely because of its success in youth development. In China, the team is sometimes nicknamed as "China's Manchester United", because of Xu's well-known ambition "to create a China's Manchester United".
Club Profile - We of course see our nearest rivals from Shanghai. Sadly we won't play Shenxin any time soon as they have dropped out of the league below this season. Despite the clubs short history it has plenty of icons and legends and hopefully we shall see more emerge in the near future. The finances are okay, but when we look at them later, they don't make clever reading. I have my work cut out to restore the pride at this club.
General Info - The club has been near the foot of the table in recent memory. Dinamo Moscow are our affiliated club. Our rep is not the sharpest in the land but given time, this will hopefully change.
Manager Profile - Things are not changing and more stabilising in my old age. Some would say it is because I am getting wiser. Some will argue that it is because I am levelling off the rubbish level. Seems to be a bug in seeing some of my stats being able to rise. However this makes little difference now.
Facilities - Our stadium is of a very good size, and in a very good condition. So I won't need to worry about it. The facilities are below average and hopefully I really need to address this. Otherwise my philosophy of seeing some great youngsters emerge from the academy will never come to fruition. With the lack of money it is going to be tough at first to improve, but I am looking forward to being able to do so in the future.
Squad The squad possesses some good talent but will need to be improved upon. Going to look to raid my main club in Australia to develop some young talent on the cheap. The squad has under performed when you look at it. So either the managers have been terrible or the sides above are very much good. If that is the case, going to be an adventure.
Staff - Backroom will be addressed, with old Clint Dempsey hopefully joining me. I need to add some more talent in there. But again this will boil down to the wage structure and money that I will have available to me.
Finances - £900k in the red, could be worse I suppose. However there is nothing there for me to work with in terms of upgrading.
Hall of Fame - Chasing down Luis Enrique now. Unbelievable that despite my cup haul I am still no where near Enrique. Just around 900 points shy, would love to pass the total whilst here in China during this final stint in Shanghai.

Due to the vast amount of responses I got ... I thought I would let you know what the deal is.
The boys defended the Champions League trophy and we did it by the skin of our teeth. We won it on away goals. The second leg was a real boring affair in the final, with us shutting up shop, absorbing the pressure and attempting to hit them on the counter. In the end we held out for the dullest of 0-0 draws which saw us retain our crown.
I have opened up a 9 point gap in the league, a fairly large one. Hamilton and Waterson are just destroying sides for fun in the league. In reality the league is all but Al-Shababs. Only a major mess up would mean that the club would fail to secure another league title. 27 goal difference is massive too.
So this is the state that the club is left in. The finances are on the rise, fans are flocking to King Fahd International Stadium but at the age of 54, the journey for this old man is close to the end. Shanghai is where I have not conquered yet. Guangzhou's monopoly on Chinese football is still very much so and I intend to break it. Pack up your bags. We are going back to China.

One of two jobs that I would like to take has appeared, seemingly at the right time. They have struggled in the CSL in recent years, often the forgotten side of Shanghai.
Stepping up interest to see how interested they are and whether my past history in China is remembered.
Nice to see they do not want me to leave, but I have already broken the monopoly in Saudi Arabia and fancy a change of scenes before retiring.
Deal is on the table. Time to decide.

So I've hit another milestone whilst with Al-Shabab (KSA) and honestly after a break from this save, I dunno how long I will last with the club. If the clubs I want to manage come up I will be looking to move before finishing off the career.
