If I remember correctly, the real Japanese and German players only appear in their respective national teams' squad the first time the national teams choose their players for the upcoming national fixtures.
Maybe you can make a backup save and holiday some time onwards to be sure it works right and that the players appear in their national squads?

Ok. Fair enough. I had thought of this as a community thing just like the SortitoutSI Data Update. My impression, even prior to the change from openly downloadable update to its current state, has been that there have been plenty of hints, suggestions and requests posted here by Sortitoutsi members about adding new young players and wonderkids or changing stadium names or staff roles (for example Leon Britton when Swansea had no official manager) , the additions of Sam Allardyce as manager out of retirement etc.
However, that is the subjective way things appear to me.
As to whether there was interest in the Extra File when it was free for all or only after the big change, I can only speak for myself when I say that I always kept my eye on it and downloaded the latest version - even back during my FM17 days.
I appreciate you replying so fast and pointing out your view of things as the creator of the file.

I've been wondering about this issue too.
I don't quite understand why the access to this update file is now restricted from us "non-contributors". I would actually love to contribute to it, but I find that I simply do not have enough football sources or knowledge, locally or globally, to find out about new promising players, Stadium Changes etc. before other have already found out and hinted Sir TAVARES about them. That is why I actually need the patch - because some people know more about goings on in the footballing world and are able to update great new things into an update file like this.
So, whenever I can, I will contribute to The Extra FIle - just like I have contributed in the Sortitoutsi forums by answering questions I can answer, pointing new members to certain downloads and so forth.
But I don't understand why I'm being treated like some sort of no-good leech just because I would like to respectfully download an update that is simply so good and well-compiled that I would not be able to make the updates in it by myself.
Am I really doing something wrong by wishing to be able to download a free update, created by a FM community from Football Manager fans to other Football Manager fans? I don't mean to rant, I'm not angry, I'm simply asking, because I've been really baffled by this ever since the change in question (from freely downloadable patch to something given out behind closed doors) was announced.

I believe you cannot really see the effect of the fix until the next time that the German national team names their squad for an upcoming fixture. It's at that time when the greyed out players in the national team squad should be replaced by actual real ones.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I can only imagine the gravity of your pain and sadness right now, and I just felt I wanted to say something, even though I feel like there are no words meaningful enough.
I just wish you, and the people close to you, all the best and I hope you'll face a smoother road and clearer weather along your trail onward. And hopefully you have people to talk with. It does tend to help.

In my experience, the Sortitoutsi Update actually covers more transfers, loans, retirements, staff moves etc. than the official updates. Especially those for small reputation players, lower leagues and very small clubs.
The contributers here are doing a fantastic job!

I believe Sr Wer means they've applied the sortitoutsi data update and, yet, the Ajax staff will not be corrected the way the list of database changes shows it should.

I saw a comment from someone earlier suggesting people used the Clubs xml even if their club didn't have their own video apps in the addpack. You could try that out and see if it helps.

I wonder if and how one can edit that change into FM database. Then again, if Udinese & Watford, for example, have the correct affiliation set in FM 18, then it should be possible to be made for other clubds as well using the FM Editor.
If someone knows more about this, please do tell!
Also, this piece of Barnsley news should probably be relayed to Sir TAVARES who's responsible for the [FM18] Extra File to Sortitoutsi Live Update!
Would be nice to have him add this change to his official update.

It doesn't matter what name you give to the 3D kit folder, as long as it's located somewhere in ...\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2018\graphics\

In FM17 I started a save after installing the Real Names Fix, so all the team names etc. were fixed and fine. Then one day there was an update and I forgot to re-install the Real Names Fix before continuing my save. I played a while and SAVED MY GAME. That was the big mistake I made. I only realized it later and then it was too late to load an earlier save... so I noticed that the Brazilian, Spanish etc. team names in my save had changed into wrong ones.
This is why I am going to do things different this time. I was going to be playing FM18 right now, but instead I will wait until Mons has a chance to inspect the new update 18.2 and, if needed, create a new version of the Real Names Fix. I will then download and install that fix BEFORE playing Football Manager, so it won't mess up the licensed names and other stuff in my save game. If Mons tells us that a new fix will not be needed, then I'll just re-install the current Real Names Fix again and then start playing the game again.
As Mons said in his last message, it shouldn't take long for him to see what actions are required to fix the latest update, so I suggest you just be patient and wait a while - it will definitely pay off in the long run.

As A11_Smithy commented on the FMC/FMT Stadium Superpack for FM17 section, Salford's Moor Lane, after the refurbishment, is now called The Peninsula Stadium. Its ID is still the same: 7940028.
(My apologies if the change has already been made to the Real Names Fix, I had no way of checking it currently.)

Just swap the names, for example Arsenal_A ---> Arsenal_T and Arsenal_T ----> Arsenal_A (if the (A)way and (T)hird kits are being named that way).
Or you could edit the config.xml, using Notepad, in the 3dkit folder and swap the use of files this way:

Oh, right. I was thinking about the graphical compatibility of SSKits of FM17 & 18, for example, but that is a very good point.
Not all club or competition id's are same in FM17 & FM18.

No, they're not compatible; they don't work together.
But you can use the same 2D kits that were made for FM17 in FM18.
