Saw Hobo With A Shotgun last night. Really stupid, really horrible, but I kinda liked it.

I've been listening to Boards of Canada quite a bit recently. Took me a while to get round to it, but I really like them now.

MSc?

I'm doing an MPhil, so it's not taught. I had to apply with a research proposal :/.

Yep its a taught MSc. Got modules and workshops now but then a big 6 month lab project next year. I'm pooping myself about it but looking forward to the challenge. Hopefully it'll lead somewhere good.

Didn't even see you'd recommended it. I should've watched it sooner tbh.

Soderbergh's quite awesome. I feel like I should watch Contagion.

I liked Contagion quite a bit. Soderbergh is indeed awesome.

You're a Fiona Apple fan right, Bobs? Should I just start with her debut then go from there?

Are you doing Economics and Politics now? I forget what you were doing.. BSc?

My Masters is going ok, it's research based so I am just graded on my thesis (25k) (submission next Sep), and then one essay (4k) for a methodology lesson that is compulsory (always representation or feminism, yawn.). The real time swallower for me is that I'm doing Latin and French on the side so I barely have time to research my thesis....

Have an interview today for a pt teaching job in local impoverished schools, outreach n all that jazz. 17 quid an hour if I get it...

I don't have to worry about my research project for a little while as it doesn't start until like March/April time. Although I will have to write a research proposal before then, but we haven't even been given the list of topics yet.

Other than that I'm getting back into the hang of things now. Reading academic papers again was a bit of a hurdle, I much prefer Batman comics.

Its the fact that they lost the game with pretty much the last kick that makes it harsh, not the result.

Last two episodes are class, but there were some things I didn't enjoy, and in the end the season didn't match the previous ones imo.

I don't think the shortened half season deal helped, especially with the pacing.

The Newsroom was alright. I enjoyed watching it at the time but overall it wasn't anything particularly amazing.

Enjoyed the dialogue and the performances though, even if most of the characters are just assholes.

Oh and enjoy Breaking Bad, it only gets better

Last season wasn't rubbish at all. Frank's Pretty Woman, Dee Gets Audited, The Game of Games, Anti-Social Network, How Mac Got Fat and the two Reunion ones were all really funny. There were a few stinkers in there but it was a pretty solid season overall.

You're arguing about the title of the video? It's from Goal.com what do you expect. Still doesn't take away from the fact that it was a disgraceful dive

Nah my point is that if you think that that's a disgraceful dive then you most think there's disgraceful dives every game, which I suspect you probably don't. Anyway this is boring.

I'm sounding the Suarez argument horn.

Step forward Samed Yesil and Adam Morgan. They are both so prolific at youth level and could do a job for the time being, the youth integration has been superb so far and it would be great to continue up front.

Yesil looked good against West Brom in the cup, would like to see him get some more minutes now. Looks the part, but obviously he's young so don't want to rush him.

Let's face it, you're only defending him because you're fed up of seeing everyone call him out on it. He gets clipped on the knee with nowhere near enough force to send him down, and he throws himself down to the ground a second later.

You can act like the world is against him but he's constantly bringing it upon himself by being a cheat.

I'll happily acknowledge that Suarez cheats, because he obviously does, but you'll forgive me for defending him from videos labelled 'unbelievable dive' when in my opinion it wasn't.

His reputation is never going to improve if everybody goes mental any time he does anything remotely wrong.

Personally.

I agreeeeee.

Would love to go back and play Vice City again. Never actually owned it, only ever got to play it at friend's houses, but it was awesome.

Yeah, but the fact he gets up and sticks the free-kick resulting from his cheating into the back of the net makes the fact that he's cheated to win it important.

Don't make me post the Gary Neville diving Master class again.

You mean the master class where Neville is basically agreeing with me?

As he says 'its the way of the game'. I don't really like it, of course I don't, but football is bollocks and shit like that happens all the time.

It's an awful dive.

He's touched, but thats it. He makes the decision that he wants a free-kick and throws himself to the ground.

It's a little sad that football has developed so far into being a non-contact sport that you're even attempting to justify that as a foul.

Oh, and if we're playing the 'if it's contact it's not a dive card' then Ashley Young was touched for both the penalties he won last year, but was absolutely crucified for diving for. Can't have it both ways.

I'm not saying there's contact so its not a dive. I'm saying its not a ridiculous dive, ready to be uploaded to the internet and labelled as 'outrageous'. I'm saying that there's other 'dives' like that all the time. If that happened in the 3rd minute on the half way line nobody would bat an eyelid. Players play for freekicks every game, and when they feel contact they go down. Might be soft but I don't think all of them aren't fouls.

Oh and there's a difference between that and Ashley Young's last season. The one against Villa he ran into the persons legs and flew down like Superman, this one Suarez gets kicked then goes down, albeit late and without needing to.

Yes? Am I really being so weird for thinking that that 'dive' isn't that bad? Yeah he goes down very easily but the defender runs in and kicks him in the leg, nowhere near the ball. Some might say that's 'drawing the foul' but for Suarez it has to be an outrageous dive? You see things given for just as little contact all the time.

Its a bit soft but he gets kicked in the knee.

If you think that's an 'outrageous dive' then you'll see similar in every single game in the league this weekend.

Crane's got it pretty much right, though I do enjoy Iron Man quite a bit.

Captain America's so fucking boring, I felt like crying.
And Abbott if you liked The Incredible Hulk, I'm gonna have to punch you. Really, really hard.

Nah, none of them are shit films, at least in my opinion. A shit film is something like Epic Movie.

Granted its been a while since I've seen Hulk, but I don't remember it being awful. I could definitely watch it and enjoy it for what it is. Obviously the Avengers is the best one, but Cap might be my favourite pre-film, but yeah Iron Man is pretty ace too. I hope I'm not coming across as a Marvel junky, because all of the films have things wrong with them, its just the good stuff in them far out-weighs the bad for me.

Well I think they're all pretty solid films, with a few of them being very good/excellent. Iron Man, Captain America and The Avengers being the best. Iron Man 2 is still a fun film, I remember Hulk being a decent story and Thor is ridiculous but I loved it for that. Embrace them, you heathens.
