I like Daniel Craig. I absolutely adore Casino Royale, and despite Solace being a mess he still does a good job. I have high hopes for Skyfall, think its got all the elements to be a really good Bond film.

And whilst he continues to act like a dick, people will call him a dick. Pointing out that other players dive does nothing except to appear like you're exonerating his actions.

Everyone knows that other players are also divers, everyone knows that Gareth Bale dived at the weekend. The only reason it's been a bigger story is because Tony Pulis kicked up a fuss about it.

I just get bored of coming in this thread all the time to read tonnes of posts of people calling Suarez every name under the sun, as I imagine most other Liverpool fans do. Forgive me for wanting to divert attention to other players who are doing things just as bad.

EDIT: Case in point - on MOTD last night they laughed off Bale's dive as something funny, but then laid into Suarez about his dive. Why is one treated as a sin and the other as a bit of tomfoolery?

I suppose so, but its annoying because he even if he goes down theatrically, he is fouled but he still doesn't get the decision.

Oh well, at least he hasn't bitten anyone in a while.

Don't really recall Suarez perpetually moaning about not getting decisions? This 'he brings it on himself' thing is bullshit anyway. He shouldn't be getting decisions because he goes down easily? Yesterdays dive was awful, I know that, but that was probably the worst dive I've seen him do. Last week he got elbow-smashed in the box and nothing was given and yesterday he got deliberately stamped on and nothing was given. Oh but it serves him right because he exaggerates contact?

No, but there seems to be an uproar amongst the media and other fans any time Suarez dives/goes down easily. There are several players that do it just as much but aren't given nearly the same attention. Yeah I know Suarez is a bit of a fanny occasionally, but the bias shown against him by pretty much everybody other than Liverpool fans is really frustrating.

I thought we were fantastic defensively today, especially Wisdom, so that's a big plus, but we were very sloppy in the attacking third. Its all well and good controlling the game but without the sharpness at the end its no good. Still, encouraging performance when you consider the young players that were involved, even more so when its against a Stoke team that were kicking them all match.

Well I loved it. It was refreshing after a summer of pretty disappointing major releases and 147 remakes.

And anyway I went to see Resident Evil 5 yesterday because I promised a friend I'd go with him. Now that is a bad film.

I'd recommend The European Football Show to people. There was only a few episodes last season but they've all been really good quality with lots of good guests. I think they're going to try and make them more regular this season, but anyway its worth a listen if you like football, which you all do.

The Infinite Monkey Cage is interesting, as is the Empire film podcast for news and reviews etc.

When playing Hodgson-ball the quality of passing is kinda irrelevant anyway.

That bit is true and I think he deserves to be in the squad on that merit. You can't seriously think Gerrard is as good a passer as Scholes, that's insane. He's got great technical ability so he is capable of making a great pass but he gives the ball away far too often to be considered a great passer IMO.

Well obviously Scholes is the exception, but he doesn't play for England anymore.

As for Gerrard, I really think he's going to be affected by his declining physical prowess in the next few years. He was never a great passer of the ball, even if he bizarrely compares himself to Paul Scholes, but he was a world class player because of his drive, his ability to drag a team by it's shoulders kicking and screaming to some kind of improvement and his impact at both ends of the pitch. I don't think he'll be able to get around the pitch as much as he gets older, and I don't really think he's got enough technically to compensate when he can't cut it physically any more.

Gerrard is a great passer of the ball, or at least as good as any other English midfielder currently in my humble opinion. Although I think he's mainly in the team because he's a leader on the pitch and a good experienced head to have in the squad. Plus he's still capable of doing special things every now and again, and he adds goals and good set piece delivery to the team.
