#512930 Another shot at redemption.
bigmattb28
Life in Chile got off to a fantastic start as we managed to score 10 goals in our first 2 game, a 4-0 opening day win over San Felipe and a resounding 6-0 home win over Deportes Copiapo to set us up with a game against recently relegated Cobresol, who are also our main rivals, and we challenge each other in the Clasico del Cobre derby.
The game itself wasn’t worth watching if you’re a Cobresal fan as we took control early and ended up winning 3-1. Despite them pulling it back to 2-1 after 16 minutes, we never looked liked losing this one.
Those 3 wins from 3 meant we finished the first month of my time in Chile with a 100% record.
That 100% record came crashing down as we struggled to draw 1 all away to Deportes Melpilla before losing 1-0 at home to Deportes Valdiivia.
Now this is where it got good. We absolutely thumped Puerto Moritt 7-1. We had 29 shots to their 3, only 1 of there’s being on target which was the goal. Unreal showing from us
The up and down form continued as we drew with Barnechea 1 all before another absolute mauling of a team, the victims this time were San Marcos, as they were destroyed 6-1 by us.
We continued picking up points, with wins over Deportes Iberia and Deportes Megallanes, before finishing April off with yet another 6 goal showing, this one against Deportes La Serena.
Heading into May, there’s 1 thing that is clearly obvious to all, this team has goals in it, a lot of goals. The way we set up is just to attack, and I don’t know if it is the quality of player in this division or not, but we always look like outscoring most opponents.
May kicked off with wins over Curico Unido,Deportes Rangers, Deportivo Nublense, Union Deportivo La Calera before yet another win to end the month over San Felipe
We sit top of the league, holding an impressive 13 wins, 2 draws and a loss. We are firmly in the driving seat at the minute, and can be confident of progressing should our form continue.
CONCACAF Champions League
We have a new eligible team for the CONCACAF Champions League. The final was played out by back to back to back finalists Tigres UANL who are already eligible, and New York Red Bulls who would become eligible if they lost.
Over the 2 legged final, Tigres finally, at the third time of asking won it, meaning New York are eligible, taking the place of Tigres.
I've updated the tracker and the list in the opening post. I'm quite excited about Red Bulls being eligible, if they are a good enough team for Thierry Henry, then they're sure good enough for me. When I make it to the MLS, hopefully they're still eligible, as I really want to manage them.
So we're nearly half way through my first season in Chile, and it's looking like we won't be in this division for long if this form continues. The set up of 4-2-1-3 is working wonders in this division, Yuri is scoring goals as he did last season for me, we look susceptible in defense on occasion, but we can work on that. Barring any lengthy injuries or suspensions, I can see this season being a good one, and promotion a matter of when, not if.

#512772 Serious ISSUE: "Add/ Remove Leagues" Option - NOT LOADING REAL LIFE PLAYERS after adding additional League(after first season finish)
bigmattb28
There's your first problem.
Basically, when you add a new league, whether it was view only or not, the game will generate players to fill the teams up. The game won't load all players as if you had started a new game, it will only load up the highest rep players, and then generate new players.
Xadas isn't a high enough reply player to be included when you load that league up once you've started playing.

Well this is unexpected. The lowest rep eligible team from the start of the game sacked their manager after finishing a disappointing 13th in the league, and I applied straight away. I didn’t think I’d even get an interview never mind the job itself, but here we are, and the challenge can start properly now.
I’m going to be realistic here, I very much doubt I’m winning, or even qualifying for the COPA Libertadores with Cobreloa any time soon, so for now the main and only objective is getting out of the Primera Division B and into the Primera Division first and foremost. From there I think I will see how things pan out, I’m not against leaving Cobreloa for another eligible team and coming back, as I don’t really want to be at this (or any) club too long or overstay my welcome in the hopes they become the first team I win the Copa with.
Corbeloa are currently in the second division in Chile, the Primera B. They’ve won the top division 9 times over the course of their history, as well as the cup once and as we know they’ve been runners up in the Copa Libertadores twice in 1981 & 1982. That graph doesn't make for good reading as it's been on a downward slide for a while.
The aim is simple, get promoted. From there we’ll see how it goes. I decide to bring in a familiar face to help us, as Yuri comes in on loan from Bahia who helped us win promotion with 14 goals in 19 league games last season.
Looking through the reports and advice from the staff here, they say the clubs best formation is a 4-2-1-3 set up, so that’s how we’re lining up this season
The season preview has us finishing 8th. For me this is not too encouraging, but at least they're not expecting us to finish bottom. I over achieved at Guaratingueta, can I do the same at Cobreloa?
As I said above, if I get promoted this season which is the aim, then I doubt we’re going to be challenging at the top end of the league for a Copa Libertadores spot within a couple of seasons after this one, but you never know. But without either a good finish in the top division, or without a cup win or 2, I doubt I’m going to be getting another job at 1 of the other eligible teams, unless the El Salvador job comes up, or another nation becomes available. It’s going to be fun progressing though.
On the COPA Libertadores, this had finished just before I took over at Cobreloa
Godoy Cruz of Argentina got to their first ever final, and Fluminense of Brazil, who are already eligible, got to the final of 2017. If Godoy lost they become eligible in place of Fluminense.
Over the 2 legs, it was Godoy Cruz who prevailed, meaning Fluminense are still eligible
Next update will be the first couple of months of the new season and we’ll check up on the CONCACAF Champions League.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the kind words man, I'm actually very surprised how well it went this first full season at Guarantingueta, but that's certainly helped me get the Cobreloa job!

With only 6 games left to go in the season, can we take advantage and finish in the top 4, earning ourselves a play off place?
The fallout from the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup saw the Honduras manager sacked, and as they are eligible, I apply for the job. Doubt I’ll get it but why not try
We start the first of our final 6 games with a great 4-2 away win over Vila Nova in a match we dominated from the first whistle. We then recorded another 2 victories in a row, 4-1 against Luverdense and a 2-0 win against Mogi Mirim, which confirms we will be competing in the play offs! A fantastic achievement if I do say so.
A bit of squad rotation saw us scrape a 0-0 with Cellandia before disposing Juventude 2-0 at home, and seeing off Oestse 4-2 away to see us finish 1st in Group B and heading into the play offs in some good form
Serie C Play-offs
It’s a bit weird how the play offs work in Brazil. The quarter final is played between 4 teams from both groups, and whoever wins those games are promoted to Serie B, but the winners then play a semi final and final to determine the overall winner of Serie C. So if we just win our next game over 2 legs against Cuiaba Esporte, we’ll be promoted to Serie B, which will do my rep no harm whatsoever.
The first of 2 of the biggest games of the season now, and we started off well. A cross from the left came in from full back Pirao and Yuri got his head on it to guide it past the keeper after 10 minutes. Shortly after Pirao was given a straight red, meaning we had to play nearly 70 minutes with 10 men. We held on until half time, and after some changes to formation and players, we kept them at bay, and actually had some half chances in the second. The break through for us came when a clearance found Yuri just inside their half, and as they were on the attack he broke free of the last man to leave him 1 on 1 with the keeper, and buried the ball home to give us a 2-0 lead heading into the return leg.
The return leg, and the game if we win means we’re promoted, wasn’t so cut and dry. The stats tell you an even game, but really our keeper had a lot of work to do, and our forwards left their shooting boots at home. We conceded early in the second half but clung on for dear life for the rest of the game. We managed to hold on to the 1-0 scoreline meaning we won the game over 2 legs 2-1 to seal our passage to the semi final, as well as the big prize of promotion to Serie B.
The playoffs determine who is the outright winner of Serie C, and spoiler alert, it’s not us. We succumbed to a loss on penalties, after playing out 2 0-0 draws in the 2 legs.
Now I’m not too disheartened at losing in the semi final, we’re promoted to Serie B after all, but any loss on penalties really grinds me.
With that out of the way, Guarani actually win the playoffs and they were the best team throughout this season.
End of season award stuff now as Yuri wins our player and the leagues player of the season, and yours truly is awarded manager of the season for Serie C
Just like that, my first full season in charge has resulted in us gaining promotion to Serie B. It’s going to be that much harder next season, but with a few decent signings, and some results along the way, who knows we may just stay up. It’s going to do my rep absolutely no harm this promotion and if I am to get a job at an eligible side, the lowest rep team now being the El Salvador national side, then staying up is priority number one. I also accept a new contract heading into the off season
In a strange sort of way, I’m concerned that I’m doing a challenge, as I’m really enjoying my time here at Guaratingueta. But I’m here for 1 reason and 1 reason only and that is to build up some rep and take over an eligible side to really kick this challenge off. It's definitely some rep that I need, as Honduras turn me down. I wasn't expecting to get that job just yet, so I need some wins next season to really help me in my goal to bring success to the nearly men.
Next update will be the off season, the build up to my new season and any other business.
As always, thanks for reading.

Once you get your head around it, it's pretty easy to grasp.
So the disabled list is where a player gets injured, and if he's injured for more than 6 weeks he doesn't count toward your salary cap. Speaking of the salary cap, you have a budget you can spend on wages per week, you cannot go over this. There are also designated player contracts, which do not count towards your salary, you can 3 DP contracts but can trade for more.
Trades can be made for draft picks (where the MLS gets their newgen players from, instead of youth intake) international player slots or DP contracts. International player slots are just that, slots for foreign players. You can have as many of these as you want, but you only get 7 so if you want more you need to trade for them.
The allocation funds are like your transfer budget. Basically, when you sell a player the money from that gets split up, you get some to go back into your transfer budget and the league gets some of it. You will also receive target allocation money each season, this is like the board putting money into your salary budget, it's based off league position, sponsors that kind of thing.
There's no academy teams in FM. Most teams have a B team that play in their regional leagues, which unfortunately aren't playable in FM. You can move players to your B league and try and get them developed, but with squad registration you can't leave a player in a B team and not register him for your first team, otherwise he gets waive. When a player is waived, he becomes a restricted free agent. If he was signed in the MLS draft, including real life players, then he can't be signed by another MLS team until the waiver draft, which is before the super draft. If he hasn't been signed by a MLS team before, then he can be signed by another MLS team during the transfer window.
Let me know what other info you need

Cheers mate, I thought that about the state championship, but looking at the Sao Paulo state, there are teams in Serie D and the Brazilian lower division in that, as well as others like the Bahia state there are unplayable teams in that. Not moaning, as teams in the state championships along with league and Brazilian FA cup games, tend to play the better part of 70 games a season which makes playing as Brazilian teams a slog at times.

Just to point out, for whatever reason we’re not in the Sao Paulo state championship, not sure why, and because of that our season starts in May.
Once again however, the CONCACAF Champions League has finished, and for a second season in a row TIGRES UNAL came runners up
Our first game of the new campaign was a good one, a resounding 4-2 away win, with new boy Carillo getting a debut goal, and Yuri grabbing a brace on his first appearance
This was followed up with a 2-0 win in our first home game of the new season
We were brought right back down to Earth with an absolute poor performance away to Gurani. Nothing to say on this apart from just forget it an move on
Helping our goal difference out, we smashed 6 past Vila Nova before succumbing to another poor away showing against Luverdense
Rounding out our first month of the new season was a 1 all draw at home to Migi Mirim and a good 4-0 home win over Cellandia to bring our first 7 games to a 4-2-1 record, and sees us sitting nicely in second place in Serie C Group B
July – August 2017
Starting July off is confirmation the upcoming World Cup is going to be held in Morocco
Back to back draws preceded a home win over Ypiranga to give us a nice little 5 game unbeaten run
The Gold Cup has been running and it’s looking good for the challenge
The USA & Canada aren’t eligible as they have both won this competition before, Panama are already eligible, but El Salvador aren’t yet, unless they get to the final and lose.
So how did the semi final go:
Panama beat the Canadians to progress to their second ever final, can they win it this time around?
Now this is interesting!
Did the USA take El Salvador lightly? Either way, with them getting to the final, either they’ll become eligible or Panama will stay eligible for the challenge.
Definitely going to be keeping an eye on the progress of the Gold Cup.
Back to our own season, and back to back 1-0 games now as we managed a win over Portugesa and suffered a loss to Gurani, to leave us with 6 games to go and still sat in second place in Group B
To close out this update, how did the final of the Gold Cup go?
Well well, Panama win it and El Salvador now become eligible in place of Panama*. I’ll update the tracker and opening post.
Next update will be our final 6 league games, if we get to the playoffs and anything else of note. Thanks for reading.
*I didn't get a screenshot of the news item, but I will see if there is when I get back on the game later.
