Maybe the people running Crystal Palace need to have a look at themselves as well. If they've hired someone that they feel has been so bad that he has to be sacked after 4 games, then they obviously aren't very good at their job either.

Bang on, they should go too, what a mess they are.

West Ham 2-0 Huddersfield from tonight. Only saw the last half an hour. Looked to be heading for a stalemate until West Ham's first goal which took a massive deflection.

Meanwhile, can De Boer really help it if his players are prepared to play wildly awful backpasses?

They definitely should have got something out of the game today, Dann's header towards the end was an absolute sitter as well, not to mention Lee's shocking backpass. Sacking De Boer after 4 games would be mad enough, even madder after a decent performance today.

Good result for Newcastle.

Caught the last half hour or so of Ireland v Serbia.

I like Ireland but they really do struggle going forward - lots of effort and endeavour but devoid of quality.

Poor start for Roma yesterday. Didn't manage to see any of it but, despite hitting the post 3 times, I don't think the collapse from the 70th minute onwards would have happened in previous seasons.....hopefully just a blip as I want Di Francesco to do well and hope the job isn't too much for him.

So apparently we are close to getting Serge Aurier, £23m the fee i've seen the most. Happy with that if it happens.

How's your defence gonna line up do you think? Surely Sanchez will be a starter having cost so much, but Aldeweireld and Vertonghen are established.....3 CBs?

Oh Arsenal. Some things never change.

Spurs need to get things sorted at Wembley......Kane's August record is also an odd one considering how prolific he is in almost every other month. Of course I've had him as my fantasy captain every week so far

Sigurdsson is a very good player. But yeah the fee is insane, although that could be said for so many transfers now.

How bad was Kramaric's penalty? Only hit it like that if you've seen the keeper dive early.

I swear Giroud scores almost every time he plays, should probably get more credit. Thought Leicester were gonna get at least a draw but they just got deeper and deeper...

Am i alone in thinking Everton will struggle this season? Can see them being the surprise team in the bottom half, sold Lukaku and haven't really replaced him. Seem to be relying on Rooney (which is bonkers), Lukaku scored nearly half their goals in the league last season. Going to be a Martinez style regression imo.

I can only see 7th again or 8th for them - the top 6, barring a collapse from one of them, seem pretty set in stone, but they're too good to join the rabble from mid table down. So it'll be a lot of money spent (albeit a lot gained too after the Lukaku sale) for no improvement in league position I think...

Talk of a fee being agreed for Coutinho is a bit premature I think, isn't it? Although it's probably inevitable he'll end up there eventually.

At one point yesterday we were bottom of League One. We've never been below the third tier so that's officially the lowest we've ever been! Cheers Venky's.

Really poor result yesterday and we'll have to improve quickly, starting with Doncaster at home on Saturday.

Celtic play Rosenborg in the first leg of the third qualifying round tonight, last of the British teams standing from those who entered earlier.

0-0 FT, Celtic would have been hoping for better.

the first team beat both Girona (of La Liga)

Ah are they in La Liga now? We played them at Ewood last pre-season and they were pretty decent. Drew 1-1 but they were miles better than us. Must have got promoted last season as they were second division when we played them.

He was a very good player, Nakata, but yeah not quite on Henry or Totti's level - no shame in that though.

Bonucci to Milan, £35m I think, great signing for Milan.

Played in the friendly vs Sunderland and looked pretty poor tbh.

I saw him play once for the reserves and thought he looked hopeless.

Not looking too promising then this one Gfnx

(You can remind me of this post when he scores against Rovers this season)

Huddersfield are going for it, broken their transfer record four times already this summer I think. Feels weird seeing Huddersfield spend so much!

Edit - just checked the PL thread and seen Terriersmad has talked about their new signings there.

Depending how this current trial goes, if we then do have new owners and therefore a travelling support, we have Plymouth away on a Tuesday night. What scheduling genius came up with that. Gillingham fans won't be too happy either as they're away at us on a Tuesday too!

I'm sure I read somewhere that they put games on a Tuesday night that wouldn't have a large away following even if it was a Saturday (like the ones we've mentioned here). Whereas having more local games on a Saturday ensures there'll be plenty of away fans, which might not be the case if they were midweek.

Not sure how true it is, either way it's pretty weird.

Absolutely buzzing to have you lot away on a Tuesday won't be able to tick Ewood Park off my list then!

Is that when it is? Poor do that. Some of the games that are down for Tuesday nights are terrible.

Haha, dire stuff.

We've signed a few players (and unbelievably actually paid a decent sum of money for one) already. Still hasn't quite sunk in we're in League 1, even when the fixture list came out last week.

lul

Can tell you support Liverpool.

He's far from a world beater but he's a good player, he even had a decent strike rate for Burnley in the Premier League when they went down.

Still only 24 yet he's had almost two years written off because of injury, hopefully he can make a full recovery.

We'll probably lose again though to be honest, going to be a painful fun season ahead.

You never seem to be optimistic when it comes to Spurs haha, I know you've got Wembley for a year but I don't see any other reason why you can't go from strength to strength?
