Rumours circulating that Liverpool have agreed a deal for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. I would be wet if its true.

We'll probably end up with Darren Bent.

Been seeing them rumours for a few weeks now. I won't trust anything till it's official. He could be quite cheap though, as in January he'll only have 6 months on his contract (iirc?).

Why the fuck would he go to Liverpool? It's a massive step down.

Chance to prove himself in England maybe? Did he play with Suarez at Ajax so maybe mates? Guaranteed game time?

I doubt most players would consider it a step down either, Liverpool are still a much more prestigious club than Schalke

Schalke have Champions League football and are doing well in the Bundesliga, Liverpool have Europa League football (just) and are a slightly above-average Premier League side.

Unless he's a boy-hood Liverpool fan, it seems more likely that he's going to base his decision on the present stature rather than past glories.

Furthermore, Liverpool are cheap as fuck under John Henry. It would be highly uncharacteristic for them to offer enough money to off-set their lack of Champions League football, or to sign a 29 year-old.

In short...

Liverpool are always going to able to attract players they shouldn't be able to because of their history.

If Huntelaar does go there it's hardly THAT surprising, but I don't really see it. He'll have better clubs in for him if he does leave Schalke.

Nuri Sahin.

On-loan and it was fairly dragged out. He wasn't exactly in a rush to get there.

I only mentioned it because you were pretty insistent that he wouldn't sign for Liverpool. I don't think we'll get Huntelaar but as others have said its not beyond the realms of possibility.

Well you didn't get him so I was right.

Yeah I don't see why he'd go.

He's playing regular Champions League football and competing at a pretty high level in Germany.

Surely Arsenal/Spurs would be interested in him?

He's 29, would want relatively high wages and he's not French. Also, I get the impression that Wenger feels if he signs another striker in January it'll come across as if he's given up on Giroud. I'd love Huntelaar at Arsenal but I would be perfectly happy seeing Walcott and Podolski given a shot up front.

I'd be happy to see Giroud given a run up front and actually have some decent service in those games.

Everton are reportedly chasing Molde's central defender Vegard Forren. Would be a decent signing.

He's been out injured with a torn ACL since August so yeah, he's staying for the moment.

He's certainly the very personification of the big striker they've been looking for.

Juventus are looking good already, Llorente will just add what they need. They already got Vidal on a great deal too.

I'd have loved Llorente at Arsenal but never really thought Wenger has any interest in him. Too similar a player to Giroud.
