Newcastle striker Demba Ba has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal, amid speculation that the north London club are set to take advantage of a release clause in the player's contract.

Ba, 27, had a clause put into his contract when he signed for the club in the summer of 2011 that allows him to leave St James' Park for just £7.5 million.

Newcastle are determined to keep hold of their in-form striker, who has hit 11 goals this season, however, they have yet to tie him down to a new deal.

The contract situation has led to a whole host of clubs being linked with the player ever since he arrived in the north-east, including the Gunners, who are looking to bolster their frontline in January.

While Ba admits there is so far no truth behind the rumours that he will move to the Emirates Stadium, the Senegal international has hinted that he would be more than open to such a deal.

"I have nothing to say about those speculations [with Arsenal]. Nothing has happened," Ba told Canal+.

"The media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it.

"Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream".

So what Ba actually said is.

The media claim that Arsenal need another Striker, the media also report that Ba has the release clause, and that he'd be open for a move to Arsenal (why wouldn't he, they're by far the biggest club that he would have had played for).

Hardly a come and get me plea though.

He's not going anywhere - he's uninsurable.

Arsenal certainly wouldn't pay 90grand a week for someone with dodgy knees.

Has Ba even been injured since moving to Newcastle?

A far as I can tell he's no ever-present but he's not had problems with injuries like Diaby had.

Players only really get injury problems once they join us, not before. Amazing really seeing as we have one of the most advanced medical centres in the sporting world.

Loic Remy going to Newcastle is more and more likely.

Marseille's dumbass board want to offload him as fast as possible

He's been terrible this year but he still has tons of potential

Reckon he'd be good enough for Arsenal?

Whats the fee for Tom Ince?

Released on a free then bought back 18 months later is a bit of a bummer.

Apparently Blackpool wanted £6 million but because we had quite a large percentage of next sale clause in there it's come down to £4 million.

And I don't think it was a release as such as Blackpool had to pay us something for him through a trbunal decision apparently

Ah right, not too bad then.

Just had a quick search and the compensation fees suggested range from £50k to £250k.

£6m apparently as they owe us 30% of any sale, so would have been £9m for anybody else. Newcastle and Spurs wanted him too according to reports.

£12m for Sturridge is a little steep too but not that overpriced. Still disappointing that these two are the results of the new transfer/scouting team we've got in for Rodgers. If we can add Walcott and/or some other good forward then I'll be happy.

We get £1.8m of that £12m, so thanks Liverpool.

The Times are reporting that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is in talks with Arsenal but wants a 3-year, £100k p/w contract to sign for them.

£100k p/w is within our wage structure - we're paying Podolski roughly that. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Wenger opted out.

He would be a good fit, given that he has had trouble with injuries (Altough Newcastle aren't much better at the moment)

But yeah definitely. As I said he has been shit this season but he hasn't been able to put a decent of games, and the board want to cash out since last January (and have told bullshit to the local media degrading him in order to smooth up his departure), so not exactly the best environment to thrive.

This board is worst than Chelsea's. That's the second prospect in 6 months (after Azpi) that is going to be sold for less than they were bought, and well below market value. The Ayew brothers are next...

If we sell Sturridge for £12 million, I would be happy. Especially because he would have gone for free in the summer!

Next up - Torres.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. Will Liverpool get 30% of their own money back or will that clause be waived?

I guess it doesn't really matter. I think they will just pay 30% less instead of paying them full and then Blackpool sending them 30% back, they will lose half of it that way

Sturridge is under 24, so Chelsea would be due compensation.

Which would be about 10m since they've ended up paying city about 6m for him now.

What if they waited until he turned 24? Which will more than likely be deadline day

His contract runs out when he's 23 though. If Chelsea offer him a new one and he turns it down they're due compensation regardless of when he moves iirc.

“Angelo is as good a goalscorer as you will find,” said Martinez. “He scored goals at Universidad de Chile and he is going to score goals here. I am sure he will be an important player for United. We are glad we can work with him and he can use Wigan as Tom Cleverley did and adapt to what is needed in this league.”
