Sherlock Holmes
I wanted to start a Pentagon, but I always do depressingly bad with those. So I decided to go with the British Steel challenge instead; at least I could win at least one trophy! As usual, I'm Welsh manager Danny Cartwright, for two reasons: 1. Welsh people are cool, and 2. It's easy to get into the Hall of Fame and that always makes me feel better about myself. I used to play in the Sunday League, but that was before a massive beefhead wiped me out and left me eating through a straw for over two years of my life. So I turned to management instead; it's a lot less confrontational.
I don't really have much to say about my first season. I started the game with English July, but ended up finding my way to R.O.I to start my career. Finn Harps wanted me very much (uhhhh...) and I guess I wanted them too. I just didn't know it yet. By the time I got there, they had recently played another game and had lost against the league leaders, placing us around about here.
I didn't actually intend to make this into a story, so I neglected a lot of pictures and screenshots that I would have used. However, I soon began to see that I was actually doing quite well with the Finnies. My main worry about creating stories is that they're 'duds'; I often fail to make any waves in the FM world. But as soon as I won my first trophy, I thought, why not?
It essentially went down to the last day, but my risky strategy of shifting a midfielder to AMC paid off as we dominated the match with a 16-1 shot record and 2-0 on goals. My record, from the thirteen games, was 11-2-0, which was surprisingly easy to attain.
It's safe to say that the league was dominated by the top three teams. Happily, we had the top scorer in the Division, Kevin McHugh, whom I have tied down for another year just in case it wasn't a fluke. Speaking of McHugh.
Yes, he even won the infamous 'Bronze Boot' award!
Going into the new season, the board tripled my wage budget and challenged me to avoid relegation.
However, I struggled to use this wage budget. We struggled to attract the top, free players (not that there were many), and most of the players that I signed were decent regens. But, I'm sure you see a certain person in there who essentially cut our wage budget by 1K (of 4.2K). Welcome to the world of:
Usually, I play it safe in these challenges. But I don't have a particularly strong connection with Finn Harps, and know that I will end up biding my time until one of the 'big six' teams become available, with whom I can challenge for at least the cups. So I decided to spend nearly half of my possibly transfer budget on good old Jake Keegan, an American striker who could make or break the season. I deemed my success with the Finnies as a fluke, so I'm quite happy to take the chance. If I get sacked, it won't be a source of particular regret.
And now, it's about time for the Premier Division. Our squad pales in comparison to the rest, so it's safe to say that it'll take some of my amazing tactical genius to extract some success. But we'll see.

Thought you could only sign British players in this challenge?
