Imagine if all the 50,000 people in the stadium try ordering at once. That should be fun.

Kinnear gives fairly innocuous interview. Predictable backlash.

If people think Kinnear is as sly, devious and powerful as they think he is, then why would he bother making any more signings? Surely he would refuse to sign Gomis/Gourcuff/Ayew to get back at them.

The most annoying bit was when he said "If Alan wants a striker" - Pardew has been in the media the past 3-4 weeks sounding out several names that he wants. It's pretty obvious he wants one.

I agree with every word nufc.com say about that interview - Joe Kinnear is up his own arse - I genuinely think I'd be better in his position than he is.

BBC journo reporting Ashley let Cabaye listen in on negotiations with Arsenal, during which Arsenal's representatives said "25million is a lot for a reserve player". Bit of a deal breaking comment if there ever was one.

As for our own attempts, does anyone think the club will sign someone today?

I mean, I'm hopeful n all but I'm not anticipating anyone coming in.

Good to see Kinnear will be sacked tomorrow!

Obviously, Newcastle only making one signing, was purely down to him. Nothing at all due to Newcstle not wanting to make any more signings or spend any money.

If only we had Baldini or Begiristain, imagine Lamela, Negredo and Jovetic in Newcastle shirts.

I also blame the local media, why can't they get an interview with a reclusive billionaire, explaining why he's such a cunt? Ryder/Ashley could be a great movie!

I'd rather we sold Cabaye, brought in James McCarthey and another striker. Unsure what Kinnear has actually been doing for the past few months?

If Remy gets jailed in November we're left with fuck all upfront, a centre midfielder that doesn't want to play for us and a useless manager in charge of them.

Our season lies at the feet of Ben Arfa and Remy really.

Kinnear is a complete joke but Newcastle can still have a good season.

Ben Arfa and Remy, if they stay fit and un-jailed respectively, could bag 20-25 goals between them whilst I'd imagine Cabaye will get his head down now that he won't be getting his move away. Newcastle have a good team but just need some more luck with injuries and off-field distractions.

Thing is we're 1-2 injuries away from a crisis in every area of the pitch. We lose 2 central midfielders/defenders and we're playing youth players.

We have Cisse (who has lost all ability, seemingly), Shola (who never had any to begin with), Gouffran (who utilises missing complete sitters as his technique too often) and Remy (who could possibly be a gang rapist and in jail for 10 years) as our strike force. Lose Debuchy and we don't have a fit right back, lose any of our wingers and Obertan is again first choice.

The only way we'll have a good season is if we stay completely injury free. Krul-Coloccini-Cabaye-Remy is a good spine, with players like Ben Arfa, Sissoko and Santon to support it. It's definitely not all doom and gloom, but we really needed squad players in this transfer window as we sold some of ours.

Need Yanga-Mbiwa and Debuchy to step up and prove their worth too, both have been poor so far.

As far as Kinnear goes I don't really know what to say, I think Shola is the only person who can see how he's justifying his position as our director of football, then again I think he'd argue black was white for the sake of it.

Newcastle had five first teamers missing against West Ham and Fulham. Remy/Taylor/Tiote/Cabaye/Jonas.

I don't even think Kinnear is justifying his position, I think Newcastle fans need a reality check. and need to stop believing that Kinnear is a villain, on a one man mission to ruin the club. I just can't be arsed with all the protests and conspiracy theories. I doubt Kinnear has any power in the club anyway. So far he just seems to be a scout.

It's the best squad imo in the past 8 season or so of me being a season ticket holder.

I don't believe he's on a one man mission to ruin the club - I think he's doing his best. But unfortunately his best is nowhere near good enough for any club in the 21st century, never mind one aiming to be in the upper echelons of the Premier League. He's came out on numerous occasions saying he believes this squad is good enough to finish in the top 8 which just puts unnecessary pressure on Pardew.

Our first team is good yeah I agree, but our squad is non-existant. People like Sylvain Marvaeux are good players but they're better used as impact players, playing 2-3 games then not being seen for a few weeks, then coming back again. They're not good enough to be regular starters. We desperately needed cover in central defence as Steven Taylor is a liability and Mike Williamson is not Premier League quality. We have no plan B in our strike force except Shola Ameobi who has scored 3 maybe 4 goals since we got promoted?

It's just annoying how far up his own arse Kinnear is and seems to be getting away with it while Pardew will probably have to pay for his and Ashley's failings with his job come Christmas time.

Pardew speaks:
We are delighted to have brought Loic Remy to the club in this window and we believe he will form an exciting and effective partnership with Papiss Cisse.

Joe has worked hard on numerous targets, particularly an additional offensive player. However some of the options that were available within our financial means were not as good as the players we already had and there is no point bringing in new players unless they can improve us and take us forward.

We did the majority of our business in the January window, signing five excellent first team players.

With the strong squad we have we should all approach the season in a positive, optimistic frame of mind.

A few months back Pardew said:

"We still need to make sure we get two or three recruits in there which take us forward. If we can do that, they’ll grow as well, and we’ll be much, much better next year.

"You hear managers taking about needing three players to make the perfect side – Arsene would probably say the same – but we genuinely, genuinely need a couple in that first team that complement the others."

Guessing this plan was pre-JFK.

Newcastle United fans get a real sinking feeling after the Mutiny on Tyne
Newcastle United supporters are used to turmoil, only they normally have to wait for the season to start before things begin to disintegrate.

Few clubs do unwanted drama better than Newcastle United, but even by their standards this summer is turning into something spectacular.

The extent of Newcastle's ambition seems to be mid-table Premier League safety. It is sustainable and it can probably be achieved with the players at Pardew's disposal, but it will do little to generate goodwill among fans who can still remember watching their team in the Champions League.

There is an ugly, potentially poisonous atmosphere building and there is also growing concern about the damage inflicted by such a fractious summer.

A solid return to the Premier League last season is in danger of being wasted, the team spirit that got them there eroded and the anticipated influx of bright new talent failing to materialise.

It is far too soon to write Newcastle United off, their new signings may click, their number one target, Mevlut Erdinc may still join from Paris Saint Germain, but it is relegation battles, not European pushes, which are starting to occupy minds.

There is anger, bitterness and hostility, but mainly there is just disillusionment and weariness that a proud football club is again making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

I know there were loud feelings things were going awry in summer 2011 but I don't recall the mood being apocalyptical. I suppose it helps that by this point we'd won the Derby, which helps improve the mood of things, and JFK had not emerged saying all sorts of bollocks in an official capacity.

The fact he said "Judge me by my signings" and said we'd sign three, and then promptly sign one on loan, is an invitation to judge him in a negative way. So that's what a lot of fans are doing.

It also does not help the feeling that Pardew spent the whole summer going "We need signings" and then backtracked with what could be interpreted as a whitewash over the lack of transfer activity.

2011 was our fifth best finish in the past 50 years. And people still went into the season moaning. And thinking about relegation.

There is anger, bitterness and hostility, but mainly there is just disillusionment and weariness that a proud football club is again making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

2013 articles are basically carbon copy of 2011 articles. The only way to shut the boo boys up, is to win a few games, make new signings or make a populist move, like appointing a popular manager. It's why Newcastle are the joke club.

OK - It's too soon to tell, but Remy seems a really good signing. B+.

Also interesting is how many fans don't seem to consider loan players as 'signings' and don't seem to consider money spent on loan fees as spending money. Especially considering it's not hard to see why Newcastle wanted him on loan.

The point of the transfer window, is to try and strengthen the squad, get rid of deadwood and replace any outgoings. Not to sign as many players as possible. And definitely not to scramble round on deadline day trying to sign anyone, which Newcastle didn't do.

Grass is always greener. As Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye aren't good enough for Newcastle. And Demba Ba certainly isn't as good as Erdinc, currently a Ligue 1 journeyman.

Yeah I don't think we're as bad as everyone is making out. Obviously the transfer window could have gone a lot better but our team is still decent. There's a lot of new faces who we're still yet to see the best of on a consistent basis, throwing them into a relegation fight with no Premier League experience was always going to be problematic.

Hopefully now that all the bullshit associated with the transfer window has died down the team can just concentrate on gelling together and forming some sort of coherent style of play, we had way too many changes in personnel through injuries and transfers to ever establish that last year.

4 points is a decent start too, especially considering all the 'crisis' talks.

We did strengthen the squad in the summer of 2011 though, we haven't really done that this summer.

We've sold a lot of squad players too, something Pardew criminally ignores every season. People like Gutierrez aren't good enough for any team hoping to finish higher than 15th - yet he's seen as one of our key figures.

I'm just sick of the constant smoke and mirrors from everyone above Pardew - I'd really like to know why we didn't get any of Aubameyang, Kone, Bent, Gomis, Pilkington, Thauvin, Demba Ba, Etienne Capoue or Douglas "over the line".

Every one of those players except maybe Thauvin and Pilkington is an improvement over what we've got. Remy > Kone I think too.

If the club rates Jonas as a key figure, then you can't really criticise the recruitment policy. The club value him highly, why would they sign someone who they don't think is as good to replace him?

I think the vast majority of the cases were that Newcastle wouldn't pay the money or they wanted to go somewhere else. Plus a lot of them may just be rumours or made up by agents or whatever. And I suspect Newcastle only really wanted one of Remy/Gomis/Bent.

Tbf, with Aubameyang, once Dortmund came along there was only one place he was gonna go.

What's more annoying is that we couldn't get an alternative despite Pardew repeatedly saying "We need signings". He repeatedly said we needed another striker on top of Remy, and although he's a good player we still needed another striker.

Now we don't it's another season lumped with Shola, who has scored less than 80 goals in over 370 appearances.

Also, its arguable that we needed replacements for Simpson and Perch, and possibly a long-term one for Jonas although I daresay we may have to wait until he actually leaves for that. None of those arriving means our squad is not stronger.

Jonas is awful though, Kinnear and Pardew should be able to recognise that and sign somebody to replace him. Just because they rate him doesn't mean he's good. The club rates Shola as a key player too, and he's even worse. His goal record is abysmal - probably one of the worst for strikers that have played over 300 games. 78 goals in 378 games is disgraceful. He also needs replaced. Williamson isn't good enough for this division either.

It's their job to recognise where we need strengthened and act accordingly, and they haven't done it.

Newcastle need to pay the money to move forward though, deals like Cabaye for 4m and Ba for free only come around once every so often. If you want quality you have to pay for it.

Pardew's bound to want more signings. It's not his money, of course he's going to want more strikers.

Newcastle replaced Simpson with Debuchy. I don't have a clue what the thinking was on getting rid of Perch, maybe they want Anita or Bigirimana to step up.

Shola has probably MOTM against Fulham and West Ham aside from Colo. He was absolutely miles better than Darren Bent anyway.

A club needs two fullbacks in each position to survive though, if Debuchy gets injured we're fucked.

Shola isn't miles better than Darren Bent though, Bent may have had an off day and Shola may have played well - it doesn't change the fact Bent is good and Shola isn't.

Ameobi is not a Premier League footballer, Championship is his level.

I think the contingency plan would be to move Santon to RB and have Haidara/Dummett to step up at LB. I would have liked a new RB for sure though.

Shola offers absolutely loads to a club like Newcastle, as a squad player.

He offers no more than someone to lump a long ball up to. And even then his touch is so poor he isn't very adept at holding play up. He should be 4th choice for a club aiming to finish any higher than 15th, could maybe squeeze him 2nd/3rd for a team with their main ambition to be to stay up.

Which we could have done with Gomis who would have been a key player.

Dummet and Haidara are both very young though - wouldn't be happy with a long term injury to Debuchy forcing them into the side every week.
