I'm trying it again this year - I failed last year & the year before.

Also you guys need to read some decent fantasy. There's a lot of shit fantasy about, just like there's a lot of other shit in genres. There's some quality stuff though.

Some is, some isn't. I previously tried writing a book about a man who goes to prison, ends up being raped by his cell mate, the two fall in love and then towards the end he discovers that the man who raped him is actually his father who he has never met.

The clusterfuck of problems that opened the door to are obvious: I've never been raped. I've never been to prison. I've never been raped by my father. I met my father. I've never been raped.

I just read some of the dialogue between the two and it's horrible.

So I said fuck it, write what I know. Which is being an emotionally retarded adult male who has failed to shake hands with responsibility.
