And by your reckoning your games against Barca last year in the last 16 weren't 'big' as they weren't the quarter finals or later.
BR.
If Liverpool get hammered tonight and then lose at home to Chelsea on Saturday then he's going to come in for a lot of criticism, and it'd be deserved criticism.
A club the size of Liverpool should never be admitting defeat before kick off in any CL match, whether it's against Real Madrid or not. Obviously Madrid are a lot better but Rodgers is supposed to be an up and coming young manager, try and create a plan to get a result! The players on the bench will be less than impressed as well - Sterling would have loved the chance to play at the Bernabeu, Gerrard might never play in such a match again, etc.
Dangerous move.

The worst part is, he's not much worse than our new £20m signing.

That's true.
Ronaldo is I'm sure absolutely relishing banging in a hat-trick tonight.

Maybe its because I can see this being something he'd do, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing it because he knows they won't win anyway and would rather try and fluke a result and revel in the inevitable media praise of his 'genius'.
bluemoon.
To be honest, I'm not massively fussed about European football but if my team is in it, I'd quite like us to win a trophy. The money comes in very useful though, and considering the majority of teams in the Champions League don't have any realistic chance of winning it, I'd say the prize and TV money are pretty big motivators.
That's true to an extent. As group games go, it's probably as big as you can get. It's still only a group game though, it only means so much. There's not that much riding on it.
Yeah, I'm not sure it was. It was fairly big for City because it was our first but in the grand scheme of things, I'm not convinced they did count as big games.
Zing.

We played like we have done all season, I'm not even surprised. Our lack of quality at the back is so clear to see, well to everyone other than Wenger of course.

But it's alright, we didn't need to buy a defender anyway.

I've got a lot of respect for Arteta (probably my favourite player tbh, a key reason why we got top four somehow for three years on the bounce), but last season he was an absolute mess. Especially in the Prem. But for a game like today where the physical presence on the pitch is minimal? It's the perfect game for him to anchor. He was quality, then he gets injured and you bring on a retarded headless chicken who shouts for no reason it just fucks everything up. Arteta is the one cool head in the squad, there's a reason why he's captain.
Mert and Koscielny was great last season, but when the former says he's struggling to motivate himself after the World Cup win he isn't doing himself any favours. He's probably been one of our worse players this season, he looks lost without Koscielny.
Carroll.
Well that wasnt so bad now was it. Arsenal on the other hand..
