So it would appear that De Gea wants to leave Man Utd too, who is the reserve keeper now?

Romero will be our new first choice.

If De Gea goes, would you not sign a first choice to replace him and keep Romero as number 2?

If your defending is the same as it was last season then you lot will be letting in goals for fun. Romero was only a backup keeper at Sampdoria to Emiliano Viviano who himself was like third choice behind Szczesny and Fabianski for Arsenal a couple of years ago.

He's Argentina's first choice, he can't be that bad.

Salomon Rondon to West Brom aparrently. Could be an interesting signing.

That doesn't really mean much though. Its not like Argentina have got many decent keepers around, although i'm sure Geronimo Rulli will push for the starting spot sometime in the near future.

If I was manager I would, but I doubt Van Gaal will.

He's fond of Romero, guaranteed he'll get a chance.

Good luck with that.

Be grand.

Sure if needed we've the mighty Sam Johnstone as well.

Would Van Gaal be tempted to go for a fellow Dutchie, Krul?

The lad from Ajax who was his first choice for the national side would be his choice I would think

If he was a complete spastic then yes.

Krul is nowhere near good enough for Man Utd.

The best replacement we could get for De Gea would be Lloris, but I can't see it happening until next summer.

What about Sirigu? PSG have signed Trapp from Frankfurt and even played ahead of Sirigu in PSGs opening game yesterday.

Somehow. They've got two or three keepers as good or better than him.

I can't believe that not only is Willy not in contention with him he's actually never been capped.

Argentina are always weird as fuck with goalkeeper's though. Ustari was quite close to going in 2014 despite being Sunderland's 3rd choice, behind Westwood and Mannone.

I think at the time Caballero was playing for Malaga in the knockouts of the CL.

Apparently Shaqiri is at the Stoke game. Perhaps the move is still on? Imagine Stoke having Afellay, Bojan and Shaqiri playing behind Walters

Even better when Walters outscores them all...combined

Anyway Roma selling world class defender Mapou Yana-Mbiwa. Shame he got Garcia'd. He'll look good as soon as he gets a better manager.

You really hate any perceived criticism of Pardew don't you

For the record, Mapou is obviously no world-beater but he's a good defender and going from the second best team in Italy to the second best team in France suggests he's more than good enough for a team who only escaped relegation on the final day of last season. I'm actually surprised he's leaving, especially with Romagnoli off to Milan (who I'd much prefer to keep instead of Mapou). Pretty short at CB now.

Signed for a total of 8.5million Euros, being sold for 9 despite being one of Roma's best defenders last season (apparently - didn't watch them much) and scoring the goal that got them into the Champions League... bit odd that one.

We sold Boumsong to the best team in Italy who was then sold to the best team in France. And we finished higher last year, then we did when we had Yanga

And I don't overly dislike the guy, I'm just incredibly bored of the cult of Yanga-Mbiwa that only exists in Newcastle. From what I've read he's had an average at best year in Italy, and that he's not as good as Davide Astori. I've seen him drop two clangers in pre-season ffs.

However in Newcastle he had a great season, Bayern would have won 15-0 without him, and Leandro Castan is fully fit, just not selected.

Can only presume that Castan is fully fit again and that they have someone else on the way in, because otherwise they only have one natural central defender in the whole squad.

There's no cult of Yanga Mbiwa, he's just better than 3 of our 5 senior centre backs and we sold him for peanuts in the middle of a relegation battle.

It's just a ridiculous level of favouritism and who they played for in Argentina. If you play/played regularly for Boca or River, you'll probably get in. If you were a regular for the manager's old team you stand a decent chance too. The number of former Estudiantes players who were picked by Sabella was incredible and Martino hasn't shied away from picking former Newell's players either (Nahuel Guzmán for one).

It ends up with talented, in-form players like Rullí, Caballero and Marchesín being ignored for the likes of Agustín Orión (a 34 year old nutter who has never left Argentina) and Mariano Andujar (a bang average keeper but a former Estudiantes player).
