Depending on your political beliefs you'd be disgusted at the domination, or wish your party of choice could have this much freedom to put policies into place.

Hopefully man!!

Hope you're doing alright mate

Aye, things seem to have settled down for us (albeit with a massive absence).

It wasn't actually bad. The management never bothered me or the other workers, just left to do your work. About €350 a week last year and at this stage I'd take about half that tbh with trips to Amsterdam next month, Bucharest in November, Brussels and Madrid in December.

Aye. I work at the exhibition centre, mostly building and dismantling exhibition booths. I only work when needed though, so I only worked two days last week and it seems I won't work until the weekend this week.

So still getting fucked around by FastLane/DPD. When I went over to Germany, I had a suitcase shipped end of May, as it worked out cheaper than taking it on plane, plus I had to get trains either side so was looking a lot less hassle for me. Week later nothing turned up, so found they somehow managed to lose it, been trying to get my compensation for it since (as I did insure it) but they don't even reply to emails much.

I used to work as a freight forwarder, and those inclusive insurance policies are absolutely worthless. Its hard enough to get these courier companies to admit fault, let alone pay out on something.

I've worked in customer services prior to going back to Uni this year and dealing with courier companies was by far the worst experience in that job, even more so then getting shouted at for things that weren't your fault. There's some good guys on their customer service side of things but the majority of them either are braindead or deliberately unhelpful.

My favourite argument was with an imbecile that worked with Hermes. The customer had rung up to say they hadn't received their parcel, I confirmed the address with them and everything was fine our end. I rang Hermes and was told that the parcel hadn't been delivered because the customer didn't live at that address according to the courier driver, rather than admitting their mistake and putting it our for re-delivery the next day it led to a 10 minute argument about who was right, the person who actually lived at that address or the courier driver.

After out-right refusing to deliver the parcel I was left with no option but to return it to us, despite all this that still counted as a 'successful' delivery and we were charged for it.

In other words, good luck Carroll. My advice would be to ring them repeatedly until you get someone competent on the phone and if they don't give you the answers you want to politely, but firmly, ask to speak to their supervisor. Eventually you'll get somewhere.

Damn that sounds a massive hassle. I'm in a bit of a shit situation as posted it with FastLane which is like parcel2go, so just a middle man sort of thing. When I call DPD they say they can't talk to me but to talk to FastLane, when I call FastLane they say they are waiting to hear from DPD.. so a massive circle

God I know what its like claiming on luggage. Went to Austin and Heathrow Terminal 5 had a power cut so only 5 bags made it onto the plane. Get to the other side and they say it should arrive on the next flight which was same time the next day and to buy clothes and shit and they will compensate. Bag arrives 4 days later so by this time I've had to buy like 6/7 t shirts because it was so hot you would just sweat them. Took about over a month to get a email confirming how much I was getting back then got the money like 3 weeks after

Ah right.

In that case what DPD have told you is correct, you have a contract with FastLane so you have to go through them to sort it.

How long has this been going on for now?

NVM read your first post again.

I don't know the exact procedure with DPD but Hermes and Yodel both treat a parcel as lost after a week of no scans, if its outside of that time period they probably need DPD to confirm it but that shouldn't take more than 1 phone call to them.

I'd ring them back up and give them a timescale to sort it, if the first person that talks to you doesn't sound bothered then insist on talking to someone higher up, threaten to go to trading standards or small claims court if they don't (I'm not sure how feasible either of these options are for you given you're in Germany but the threat alone should make them take it seriously). We used to hate those sorts of customers at work, but it unquestionably gets things done.

I'm back in the UK now so that's not a problem, just the hassle how they both are basically blaming the other one.
At first I think I gave them 2-3 weeks for them to find it, before they said it was lost. Got me to fill in a form for lost goods which then they were questioning the contents of etc and they've dragged it all the way till now. Last email of them was 3 weeks ago claiming it will be sorted within two weeks (by last Friday), I then emailed them again this Monday. Haven't had a reply all week so phoned them this morning and they assured me I'd get an email this evening but again nothing. Will call them again Monday and try do what you said

So delighted it's the weekend. I've had more problems with my depression lately, the panic attacks are getting more frequent. Work is really busy and I'm just getting overly stressed. I'm not really happy with how things are in general, they're not bad but I feel I could be doing so much more now, I'm 24 in January and I'm scared I'm wasting my life. I hope to make some sort of change soon i.e. moving out.

Glad the weekend is quiet, fuck all to do which I very much welcome.

It could be worse

I'm 26 on Monday, possibly unemployed again because I wanted minimum wage, single, don't drive and live with my nan.

Only messing with you man. It's tough when you've certain ideas about how your life should be and indeed what you want and it hasn't happened yet. Then you're stuck in some cycle and can't seem to break it. Have you thought maybe of travelling? Like doing 6-12 months in Australia or America? Just to kind of hit the reset button.

So I called them today.. Was told this will be delivered by Friday, I was like hold on, 4 months ago in May you told me it was lost, I'm not in Germany etc. So miraculously they have found it? Was told I'll get a call back later today but again doubtful.
