Otamendi-Mangala is such a poor partnership and its so, so expensive.

At least when Sissoko turns up, he's not actually that good anyway.

What the fuck City were doing at the end I don't know, holding onto the ball by their own corner flag then just not getting it forward when the referee was gonna blow any time..

How much longer is Kompany out for? City really need him back.

As Ninja said Mangala/Otamendi is a terrible partnership.

Definitely one of their better chances, but we have this discussion every season at some point.

Arsenal will have their mid-season collapse for sure but looks like they've built themselves enough lead to maybe get over that. Leicester will be up there though (everyone's doubting them and has been doubting them all season and look where that's gone)

We haven't ever had a mid-season collapse since 2007/08 when Eduardo broke his leg. Every season after that we've been stronger after Christmas than before it.

I do find the annual cycle of Arsenal fans as amusing as the famous Scouse boom-bust cycle.

Its gone something like this over recent times:

Start of the transfer window:
Bullish, ended the season strongly, looks like the teams finally getting there, and if only Wenger added one or two of the right players you'd surely win the league.
End of the transfer window:
Wenger's only signing has been a 13 year old prodigy from Djibouti, the teams been booed off the pitch in 3 games by now, including a pre-season friendly.
Christmas:
The fans are universally positive, the anger from the start of the season has been forgotten, they once again have the best players in the league.
End of the Season:
They fail to get over the line, despite playing well for most of the season a complete melt down where they drop 9 points in two games after being knocked out of the Champions League by a team whose acronym is 'FCB' means most of the fanbase want Wenger out, yet they rally to end the season in the Champions League places. They either win the FA Cup, or they don't, no one really cares anyway, and we start again.

The irritating thing for Arsenal fans is surely that if they had bought in the summer they'd be walking the league this season.

Pretty much spot on, Arsenal were going to win the league in August which turned to Wenger out by October.

Think I dislike their fans most out of all the options, nearly all of them are such smug bastards and actually know fuck all about football (the guys on this forum are alright though)

But who am I to talk, I was more excited than a kid on Christmas day when we smashed City and Chelsea and told my mate we're gonna win the league..

We'd usually have collapsed by now but luckily for us in November everyone else was just as shite as us. Wenger's stated openly that we are short and need reinforcements (weird for him, usually faffs on about "top, top quality" and "if we find the right player, we will do it". 6 points against Southampton away (ain't won there since their promotion) & Bournemouth would put us in good stead. I'm not really taking much notice of Leicester tbh, although I'd like them to finish in the top four.

And buying no outfield players was criminal, just praying we get the quality required in Jan to push us over the line. An Arshavin-esque signing would really boost the squad. As for the CL, I'm not really arsed to be honest. It's set up for us to beat/draw against Barca at home then get battered away. Sooner it's out the way the better.

With the managerial merry go round at the end of the season, we need to win the League this year. If we don't we won't have a sniff for a good few years.

And yeah, Arsenal's online presence is probably the absolute worst alongside Liverpool's imo. Funny at times though

Amazes me that pundits that are allowed to speak on television are still questioning whether Ozil is a good player or not.

Van Gaal has been sacked, according to BBC Radio 5 Live.

Also
Duncan Castles just confirmed on BBC Radio 3 that LvG has been sacked and Jose Mourinho will take over. Announcement imminent.

Mark Ogden on Sky Sports 1, "Louis van Gaal has left Carrington via the back gate just like David Moyes to avoid media." #MUFC

1. Those tweets are at least 5 hours old.
2. BBC Radio 3 plays classical music
3. Neither Duncan Castles nor Mark Ogden were on either of those shows

He also didn't sign him because 'we didn't need that sort of player' and then 3 months laters spent £37m on Mata.
