O'Neill's struggled at Sunderland but who could they feasibly bring in to replace him? No realistic targets come to mind who would improve that side. He should be given some more time at least.

I've said it before but MON is a crap manager tactically and money wise but he is a good man manager.

O'Neils biggest problem was the summer.

Sunderland didn't have a brilliant squad to start with so spending 26m on 2 players was ridiculous.

If he spread that over 4/5 players they'd be in a much better position.

You're probably right there, but Johnson and Fletcher are the kind of players who can create/ score the goals to save them from relegation. They've got other decent Premier League players who should be able to be competitive in most games but you need a couple of guys who can win you games on their own from time to time.

Fletcher's a good player. But if even Man City couldn't carry Johnson defensively then there's no way Sunderland can afford to.

I think Sunderland lack on-field leadership as much as anything, Looking down their squad list I don't see anyone who I think can really rally those around him when they are struggling.

Adam Johnson is phenomenally overrated.

He's only overrated because he moved to City straight from Boro, then proceed to do fuck all there, then move to Sunderland for decent money.

If he'd not moved to City at all then he might just have turned out to be pretty good.

No, he's overrated 'cos when he's on MOTD he looks like a player who's a threat to the opposition all game, when in reality he does fuck allbut occasionally scores a cracking goal.

Out of Saha, Campbell, Wickham and Ji, would you have any of them now? Campbell just isn't right at the moment and Saha has been less than impressive.

I'm not saying they are great, but sometimes a manager has to make do and find a short term fix until January. FWIW Saha can still probably score goals if they get the ball in the box enough. And I suppose Ji, Wickham and Campbell need to have a real crack at fulfilling their potential and it might as well be now.

Bruce brought in 10 first team squad players the summer before, so you could argue that it was quality needed rather than depth.

Wickham is a good player, he's not played enough. He was getting in the team and playing well recently then for some reason O'Neill has dropped him tonight.

He's a strange one, O'Neill.

O'Neil sold/release more than 10 first team players this season though.

Richardson, Turner, Angeleri (hardly a first teamer) and Gordon (end of contract)? McCartney, Gyan and Riveros were already on loan last season and joined the clubs they were at.

Corinthians have beaten Al-Ahli 1-0, They play the winner of Chelsea Vs. Moterray on Sunday.

Not Premiership news but it didn't seem worth creating a new thread just for the Club world cup

Only one of those Liverpool player s top quality and 25 is hardly University age is it? Granted one or two have potential, but the rest are pretty awful and one of those is on loan from another club ffs.

University age in here (also known as the time when your parents have to feed you) is until 26.

Hang on whats the point of it.

Is it somehow considered an achievement that your group of youngster hasn't got a University education, just like almost every other footballer ever? I'm genuinely confused to the point of all this.
