Frequently Asked Questions

If you've never downloaded the pack before, you should just download the larger "complete pack".

If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.

If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.

If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.

Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
You need to copy and overwrite the faces and the new config file from the update pack into the faces folder.

If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.

These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.

Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. It might be for FM24, but the steps are exactly the same.
It's a known issue with FM26 - read this. We're assuming this issue will get resolved in upcoming official patches/updates.
The new players were added before FM26 was released and didn't have the right UID yet. We've started the process of mapping them to the correct person's UID.
When you have a blank space instead of a cut-out, it means there is a config file pointing to a folder in which an image with that UID is not present. This generally happens when an update pack is installed in a separate folder and not part of the overall faces folder, or there is a rogue config file somewhere. It could also be that you have somehow not downloaded the full megapack but only part of it. Search within the graphics folder for the UID of this person, and you will probably find the secondary image. Delete that folder, and it should be fine.

Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
In line with guidance on the official SI forums, At present, FM26 cannot handle multiple files with the same name. For example, if you have two files with the name "kit.png", it will not load both. and Player Faces: These work fine. You do not need the icon files anymore, and they can cause issues with the note above. Delete them.

As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
The torrent file includes the base megapack uploaded just before that year’s FM version is released. Any and all subsequent update packs are to be downloaded separately.
For those who have never used torrents, in the vast majority of cases, it's just a question of downloading the client program (a small file, less than 1MB) and then downloading the megapack torrent file (a tiny file, around 20k) and then letting the program do the job.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.

Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Please report this so that they can be reuploaded. Since the files are hosted outside our pages, there isn't much we can do about this unfortunately. You could try downloading the pack via torrent and get it this way.
Extracting the file will take a while, but it shouldn't take the hours and hours that the program extracting will sometimes say it will. To speed it up, it is recommended that you have as few programs running as possible so that the system can dedicate as many resources to the extraction as it possibly can.

Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
You might have a poor internet connection or your browser might have some extensions which interrupt this download. Having loads of downloads ongoing and/or streaming may also de-prioritise this download.

Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The most recent update pack will include the most recent config file, so you can choose to download it and use it from there.

Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
Down the years, after an update pack was released, it was noted that some images included therein where of the wrong person, with a wrong extension or duplicated. Due to the way the download system is structured, these cannot be removed from the download, so there may well be a couple of hundred images’ worth of difference, depending on the version you download.
Our megapack covers 25,000 teams and it's impossible to cater for these kind of requests since players and staff get transferred or sacked or retire etc and recreating and reuploading 25,000 different smaller packs would be an impossible task. That's why we have all the images in a megapack so that everything is captured therein.
These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that they only appear in your save-game because they were added via a custom file, generally the real name fix file. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.

To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Hi Mons.

Appreciate your help. I'm struggling to supply you with what you requested. Can't find the folder my screens hits are stored! As you can see I'm not gods gift to computing.

The plot thickens however as I have now noticed that some of the faces have loaded but not all of them. I'm playing a save with Liverpool. All my staff have their faces but none of my playears.....it's like that for almost all he teams actually. Strangely Grujic has his face as well as one of my young signings Kuki.

Clearly it's working just not in totality.

Any advice??

Seems to me like you either did not download the full pack or that you've somehow not installed it correctly, but I just can't give you any meaningful advice without seeing your folder structure. It's a bit like asking your doctor for a medical diagnosis over the phone

Even if you take photos of the screen with your mobile and post them here, perhaps that could be enough.

In addition, can you tell me if you have 178,000 images (or thereabouts) in your megapack folder? And whether you see the default black cut-out where there isn't an image, or whether it's a blank space? Also, have you set up your preferences as per the screenshot in the opening post?

Hi Mons,

I have 179524 pictures in the 'faces folder' and 179521 pictures in the 'iconfaces' folder.

I have attached all the relevant screenshots/photos you requested. Please let me know if you require any more.

Please let me know how to proceed. I have also tried ticking and unticking the 'use caching to decrease page loading times' box without it working.

I also tried removing the folder to the desktop and clearing the cache and then placing it back and reloading the skin without any luck....

I have included faces that work as well at those that don't work. You will also notice that the metallic logos and kit graphics work perfectly.

I look forward to your help

Hmm, nothing seems out of place from those screenshots and the amount of images seems about right.

Do you have any other facepacks installed perchance? Also, can I have a screenshot of the contents of the faces folder? Do give your PC time to sort out the folder in alphabetical order. This will allow me to see if there are any sub-folders.

Ok.

I have am letting the computer 'open' the folder properly.

I see the load time for that is quite lengthy - it's still showing a loading circle next to my mouse (maybe been 5 mins already).

Perhaps once it has done that the skin will work??

The time the folder takes to open doesn't really have anything to do with whether the game "sees" them or not. It's to be expected that it takes a bit of time, it has 179 thousand odd images to sort, after all...

Ok I have attached what I think you're looking for.

I did try a different facepack prior to this one and it worked fine but I didn't like the style. I have since deleted it permanently. I think it's one of the outdated ones on your site with the players name underneath the pic...

I needed to see the folder from the top, not the bottom. My bad, I wasn't clear. This basically, but once it's been ordered.

Are there any sub-folders in the folder? Also, is there an image named 92021718 in the main MP folder?

There are no subfolders I can see. The only other files are 'config' and a word readme which were visible on my previous attachment...

It is still 'organising' the images at present...

Ok, you can close that folder then.

Can I have a screenshot of the folder before this one? i.e. Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2017 > graphics

Also, when you are next in-game, can you untick the use skin cache box, quit the game, close Steam, then try to load up the game and check Can's profile to see if his face has appeared...

Looks fine here too. I'm a bit mystified now tbh as everything appears to be in order.

Perhaps it's a config issue, so let's try to create a new one. Can you try downloading this file? Have a look at this video to operate it - it's really as easy as dragging the faces folder into the text box and generating a new config file to overwrite the existing one.

Do you think you can manage to do that?

I'll give it a crack.

Do you think the previous facepacks may have disrupted something?

It's possible there may be some of them still around, but it doesn't explain why some cuts appear and some not...

Can you go to Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2017 and search for 62076152 and give me a screenshot of the result?

Hello, I'm new to the site so apologies if I'm asking a dead silly question.
I've downloaded the face pack for FM17 and installed it as directed but it still doesn't seem to be working? It's for a MAC so assume it's roughly the same installation process?
HELP!
Thanks, Scott

Can I have a screenshot of the location you've placed the files you've downloaded? How many images do you have in your megapack folder? And how do players appear in-game?

Hi mons, thanks for that - as I say, I'm new!

The path for the file is this - Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2017 > graphics > 9GB .rar file

I'm sure I've installed it properly? I'm really new to the Mac so not sure how to screenshot, sorry. The players faces just don't appear - I get the 'shadow' if that makes sense?

Hope you can help? Thanks, again, Scott

Just put it on the desktop or Downloads or somewhere else for the time being. Extract the file and place the ensuing sortitoutsi folder in the location you had earlier placed the rar file.

Have you extracted the rar file with winrar? The file you've downloaded is compressed, unless you extract it, it simply can't work.

If you're not sure that what you've done is right, just upload a screenshot of your megapack folder

Ok, I don't think I've extracted the file with winrar in that case? Do you know how I do that?

When you download winrar, there's a button called extract. Click it and take note of the folder it is extracted to. Then put the ensuing extracted folder in Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 2017 / graphics.
