Plus Newcastle have had protests against every owner - and have spent more time in the second flight than the top flight - We were at the foot of the second tier in 1992
Poe
It's normal to want to be better than we've been though, and the past 10 years has yielded one good season in the top flight.
2 relegations in 10 years, along with an unsuccessful court battle against a former employee and an ongoing investigation into tax fraud is not a success in anyone's eyes but yours either.

And what we had two good seasons in the decade before? - and two good seasons in the decade before that?
Poe
In the 90's we finished in the top 6 4 times, and in the 2000's we finished there 3 times.
That's 7 seasons out of 20 that I'd classify as a 'good season'.
We finished in the top half twice under Ashley, one of them a dramatic collapse where we should have been in the top 6 and ended up 10th, and the aforementioned 5th placed finish that was a great year.
Since we existed we've been relegated 6 times, 1 whole third of which came under Mike Ashley.
Footballing wise Ashley has been a disaster. Off the pitch hasn't been great either, mind - we had a similar level of turnover to Tottenham when he arrived.

Sorry it was three good seasons in the 90's followed - but back then teams like Palace, Norwich, Villa and Forrest could compete at the top - now there is six good teams - it's a lot harder - Everton are obviously there and finding it very hard to breakthrough. - Even when we finished fifth - we probably wouldn't have done if Chelsea got knocked out of Europe - and Liverpool were awful that year.

If only Watford could hold on to a lead themselves...they need to nick the winner in injury time!
Looks like the dog botherers will have the upset of this weekend, though.

We have to start getting better!

As for the atmosphere - I can still hardly hear a thing. My voice has gone. After over 20 years of supporting them this was an afternoon to savour. 9 years ago today we lost 5-3 to Hartlepool under Stan Ternent in League One. How times change.

This. Sick of fans getting all arsey at others for any sort of criticism directed at him. Hes got major questions to answer. All well and good being passionate and illiterate as fuck, but our defending hasn't improved, and we still struggle to break down any teams that come to sit back. Salah while being amazing signing we already have players of his style and wasn't a priority. Im also not sure whether Van Dijk will even be a solution, Lovren was decent as Southampton, think its a much deeper issue. Hendersons no captain either.
Thing is well go win 4-0 next week or something and itll just paper over the cracks. Today was absolutely embarassing. Schoolboy stuff.

If you could defend like that on Saturday it would be great. I'll admit watching Match of the Day 2 and my eyes almost popping out of my head, it was that bad. Done by one ball so many times.
And if Coutinho, Firminho and Salah could all announce they're in negotiations with Barcelona and rule themselves out that would also be great.

Sean Dyche seems the early favourite to replace him. I could see it happening too.
Saying that, people also seem to link Moyes with every job going now and low and behold he is also big in the talk of going back to his old club. I really hope that doesn't happen.

If I was Everton, I'd stick with an interim choice for now until they start picking up points (and tbf, they still have genuine quality in that squad and are nowhere near relegation fears as of now). If that fails, there is still enough time to bring in someone before the winter transfer window starts and go from there
