A point is definitely something I would taken at 2-0 down but Christ alive our defending from crosses has been appalling all season. Yedlin in particular has looked pretty terrible recently.

Pochettino really needs to come up with something other than bring on Llorente and lump it up to him as our plan B. Going to be a real shit show of a season otherwise.

One or two Newcastle fans seem gutted we missed out on Joe Hart in the summer. Clearly West Ham are reaping the benefits of that one at the moment.

Aye, he's been absolutely quality. Knew he'd do well but didn't expect him to do this well especially in terms of goalscoring.

Elsewhere, West Ham look an absolute mess and looking forward to seeing how Big Sam gets on at Everton.

Scary thing is he's getting more clinical, at the start of the season he'd miss a couple of clear chances before scoring, now he's taking them all.

Just for completeness' sake ahead of the inevitable grim defeat this afternoon, it's worth pointing out we actually played OK v Arsenal in midweek and were done by our own poor finishing and 3 minutes of complete madness.

3 minutes of madness against Walsall can punish you. 3 minutes of madness against Arsenal takes any game away from you completely and utterly when they wallop in 3 goals.

Be nice to score an away goal today, mind. None since the opening day for us - 7 games in all. Longest run without scoring away in quite a few years (can't be arsed looking up the actual stats).

Regardless of the circumstances around our cheapskate squad and the takeover or not story, 1 point from 6 matches is shit form... Leicester and Everton in our next two are pretty big games.

Can't defend and can't finish, no surprise we're struggling to make the top four. Currently playing a 0-2-635252 formation where all our attacking players stay in the middle of the pitch and get in each others way.

He's literally passed the ball and landed on Bellerin. Does no one play football anymore and actually use context? - People's criteria for a red simply seems to be if it looks bad in slow-mo or a still photograph.


I'm not really paying attention at the moment - but has this not been overturned? - One of the all time worst sending offs.

Just had a Chelsea fan in my FPL league blame the size of the pitch at the London Stadium for the loss, had to point out to him that their pitch is actually quite a bit bigger than the one at Stamford Bridge

Turns out we can still gegenpress. And in some style. How we didn't rattle in half-a-dozen against a Brighton side who we've obviously got a mental hold on at our place is a mystery (answered by the fact that despite gifting us the second goal, their keeper made some decent saves and that Ince just can't score despite playing very well). That second half was us at our free-flowing, dominant best. It was the definition of a 2-0 demolition.

I mean, Pardew, Carver and McClaren each served up similarly patchy runs of form and got shit for it so it's certainly fair to ask if Benitez is currently performing below expectations, even accounting for having a weaker squad than those three predecessors.

You kind of knew that when Benteke insisted on having it, it wasn't going to go in. Potentially huge as well given that Palace's season had been beginning to pick up.
