Installation Instructions
1. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Steam on Windows?
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. Although it is for an older version of FM, the steps are still the same. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.
This is what the MP folder should look like for the respective version of FM you're using:
Anything beyond the blue line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
• the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
• the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.
Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.
2. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using a Mac OS?
From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 202x -> graphics’ (create the last folder if necessary
Anything beyond this path line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.

3. I don’t want to have the megapack in the default user data folder – can I place it elsewhere and how would I do so?
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.
The above step does not apply if you’re playing on Gamepass, in which case the user data location has to be the default one (i.e. Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 202x)
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
4. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Gamepass?
If you're using Gamepass, then you have to use the default user data folder - point 4 above does not and can not apply to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.
If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The likelihood is that you've put the iconfaces in the faces folder, or used the wrong config file for each folder. As a result, the smaller images (in 25x18) are being upscaled to be displayed in the person's profile, hence the blurring. Re-install the update pack again, making sure you put the contents of each folder in the right place.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Maybe it's a Mac thing, but I know plenty of people using Macs who are running the MP without any issue at all.
Everything both of you are describing appears to be in order. Either there's something minute which is stopping the pack from working or somehow you've not installed it correctly, but it doesn't look like it to me, I have to say
laboratory
Yeah, unless I just got stupid and can't remember how to do something I have been doing for years (and correctly as recently as Wednesday), I don't get it. I have had no problems with the whatever packs were before 10.02. A new save did not help. I am downloading a different Facepack to see if it works. Still waiting for 10.02 to unarchive with a different app (I originally used The Unarchiver and I am on macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 in case anyone is curious).

I always recommend using Winrar to extract the file as that's what it was built in. But the cuts appeared correctly in the previous user's screenshots and they were still weren't appearing, so I doubt it's that.
Btw,do you get the default black face or is it a blank space?
laboratory
I can try Winrar in a few hours.
I get the default black silhouette.
All of the images seem to be fine, so my next guess is that something is happening to the config file during the extraction.
Is it possible to post that file by itself (uncompressed) or just the code and I can cut-and-paste it into a new xml file?
Thanks for your help.
mons
I can't because I don't have access to my computer for a couple of days If somebody else could upload this please?
Swedie
There you go.

Thank you. Using your config.xml file did work (as did using a complete set of files that were expanded using WinRAR on a PC and then moved back to the Mac). So it would seem like something is happening to the config.xml file during the compression and/or extraction process if you try to use a Mac and The Unarchiver. I believe I have been able to do this successfully before, so something in the process has changed.

Need some help please:
I bought a new computer and installed steam + Fm 17 on it. After i've run the game for the first time, i took a memory stick on which my graphics, editor files and save games of my old computer where saved and pasted them into the new documents/sports interacive/fm17 folder. When i go again to my game, i cleared my cache, ticked the 2 needed options and reloaded my skin. After that, i went to my saved game and there it crashed with an fm 17.3.2 XXXXXX (dont remember exactly) code.
Now when i went back to the game after the crash, and i loaded my game, it started. After a few hours of trial and error, my game goes like it supposed to be, my saves games are on it, my editor files (the claasen package) are loaded in the game and the Logos are showing up. Also my downloaded shirts packs are correctly in the game. The only thing what isn't in my games are my player pics. I tried about everything at the moment, but every time i reload cache, and try to load my game, it crashes. If i load cache from within my game, it crashes. I tried renaming it, splitting it in a few folders, ... nothing seems to work to get my player pics in the game.
Someone that can give me tips what i can do? Are is it maybe best to just redownload the pack from here? Or is there something i have to adjust or create? I just copied the pics from my old Pc to a memory stick, and from the stick into the folder on my new pc. Don't know if i should do something else to make this working.
A lot of thanks allready for reading my problem, hope someone can help me out. oh, and excuse me for faults in my englisch, i'm not a native english speaker.

Can I have a screenshot of your megapack folder? How many images in total do you have in there? Do you have a file named config.xml?
leynaldo
I'm at work at the moment so cant send a screenshot.
I do not have the config file, i checked yesterday, only the pics are in there.
I have version 7.1 i think, so about (dont know for sure) 156000 pictures are in the map.
So probably this config file is missing. Any idea how to fix this?
mons
The config file is what makes the game read the images. If you don't have it, the pack won't work.
I would suggest downloading the 10.0 torrent, then the subsequent 10.01 and 10.02 update packs to be up-to-date
leynaldo
I will follow your advice. Thanks mate !!!

You can either use the methods outlined here to make sure the cut displays in your saved game, or wait for the next update pack to be released
led wonsaz
After starting from scratch 3 or 4 times and carefully going through all required steps I am still unable to get the pack to be applied in game.
Judging by another user having the exact same problem I think it is safe to deduce that it is not myself making an error in the setup process, therefore I feel I am entitled to ask for a refund as I bought the membership upon the promise that I would have access to this.
I understand you have tried helping me and it is not your fault, but it is unacceptable that I have not received what I payed for.
Thanks.
mons
While you are perfectly entitled to request a refund, I am also perfectly 100% sure it is some sort of user installation issue, as the file demonstrably works on all systems and configurations, if installed properly. It's a pity as I think it's something really small which is stopping you from enjoying this file.
It's been a while since we last spoke, so you'll have to remind me but
a) Did you check that your preferences in-game are as shown in the screenshot in the first post?
b) Do you have a file named config.xml in both the faces and iconfaces folder?
c) Have you downloaded (and applied) the latest 10.02 pack?
d) In-game, if you check (specifically) Tottenham's Harry Kane and Ajax's Mitchell Dijks, what faces do you see?
Please contact @Rob re your refund request...

Can you post a screenshot of your megapack folder please? And how many images do you have in your megapack folder?

georgel
about 65.000 files. What can be done? I can not play without the players' faces , so far I have not had any problems with the other games. Only at fm 2018 we met this. I hope it will work out
mons
You haven't downloaded the full megapack; you should have just over 197,000 images. Download it again and make sure it downloads fully...
georgel
but it was not supposed to be the ones that are there? at fm 2017 I had no problems like this. Is it possible not to make a connection with the images? what's strange is that logo and kits works
mons
It doesn't work because you have less than one third of the images. Download the WHOLE pack and it should work.
georgel
I found the error. the config file was missing to make the connection. I think the antivirus has deleted this file. can you give me this file please.
mons
I won't be on a pc till tomorrow morning. You can find the latest config in the 10.03 update pack, but if you're missing 132,000 cuts, then you'll have a lot of players without cuts...
georgel
you can upload config files. it's good tomorrow. I can not download the patch because Internet speed is low. thank you very much.
mons
Here you go. Just extract it with Winrar and place it directly in your megapack folder.
