Really hated Dredd. Thought it was utter garbage.

Just saw Django Unchained. Too long, but extremely entertaining.

Watched it yesterday and didn't mind it, reminded me a lot of Robocop. They even added the 'you have twenty seconds to comply' into it which must have been in reference to Robocop.

I thought Dredd was a really solid action sci-fi. Definitely enjoyed those 90 minutes.

I really liked Dredd but it's pretty much just The Raid.

I saw Knocked Up last night and thought it was really funny. Also watched Human Traffic but I've seen that a few times before. Saw Fight Club today for the first time and it was fucking brilliant.

Speaking of Robocop, The new one is due out in 2014. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234721/

Django doesn't half go on. Great film, but fuck's sake what happened to 90 minutes?

Just finished watching Dredd, its an alright action film. Nowt special at all though and if it was a Judge Dredd film no one would have bothered watching it.

Gangster Squad was good, I wouldn't go much further than that though. Emma Stone sideboob too.

Will it have the radical critique of post-industrial capitalism and consider the implications of identity theory like the original, or go the way of all subsequent versions of Robocop and just focus on the fight scenes and the silly sci-fi universe they can create? Stupid question to even ask, I know, given the recent Hollywood trend.

It will only be a matter of time until Back to the Future is remade with Adam Sandler as the Doc and Will Smiths' kid playing Marty McFly. Fuck me.

It's being directed by the guy who did the Tropa de Elite films, so I wouldn't write it off before I've seen it.

I don't really see why it should examine the same issues as the original though, if anything a remake is an opportunity to look at a scenario from a different perspective. Given the previous work of the director I'd imagine that a critical look at the interaction between the police and criminals and the role that crime and violence plays in society would be the natural starting point.

If you're right, I'll be a happy camper. You could avoid the capitalist critique if the storyline shifted from being about a corporation (although with bankers so popular right now it would be a shame not to highlight them), but I don't think you'd be able to avoid the identity theory stuff, given that he's literally an android in the original.

This.

I didn't mind the length of the film either, but fuck it was good. It had pretty much everything you'd expect to see in a Tarantino film.

Also saw Wreck-It Ralph last night, was pretty good I thought. Got a few laughs and enjoyed some of the plays of words they used.

Have they stole the look for the new Robocop film from Raidan off MGS4?

The KKK scene was hilarious. Loved the film, Tarantino's second best imo.

Magicians with Robert Webb and David Mitchell was pretty funny. Never at any point was it hysterical laughter but there was a few giggles. I liked noticing the characters from Peep Show in it too. In a "OH! It's him from... er, that thing" kind of way.

I'd heard so much negative shit about it that I didn't really hate it or anything. It's certainly not very good though, despite a great cast.
It reeks of McDonagh thinking he's clever as shit, which annoyed me.

It being too long is my fault. I can barely concentrate for an hour if I'm at home watching something.

As much as I love Django, it most definitely is too long.

There's twenty minutes in between when they kill the Brittle brothers and they meet Leo for the first time, that could easily have been cut down. Also, after Leo dies, there's a bit of a slow start getting back to the mansion. That's maybe not necessarily the film being too long, but more of a structural problem, but anyhow...
