Bald inexperienced managers are the way forward - if you're thick and Indian.
Anyway, Wolves away tonight - let's hope Gary Bowyer, the caretaker, makes it 4 wins from 4. Pressure will be right on Appleton straight away to continue the good form if Bowyer goes back to the reserves with a 100% record.

It's unlikely he'll spend much more of his career at a Championship/ League 1 level though. If/ when he becomes a Premier League player I'm sure his goals to game ratio will drop off significantly.

Lucky point for Blackburn imo. Attack almost non-existent especially in the second half and their penalty was their only contribution to the game.

Over to you, Appleton..........should beat Charlton at home next week.
terriersmad
Maybe, but he's carried on scoring despite having had about 8 managers in the past 12 months.

Good point in the end today. Kept going to the end and got a brilliant goal. Crowd was absolutely shocking, every misplaced pass got moaned at. The three fucktards sat opposite me spent the whole game going on at Scannell, when he was probably our best player. Yeah, he does run up blind alleys at times, but he committed people, had the defence dropping off to deal with him, and provided our best creative outlet. But he got bawled and moaned at because he 'didn't get down the wing' by people who aren't intelligent enough to string together a coherent sentence. I really hate those morons. Next time they start going on at Scannell they'll be getting told what a modern winger is and why they should shut the fuck up.

Rhodes was average before moving to Huddersfield and Keane stuck by Wickham iirc who eventually joined Sunderland for quite a large amount of money. Tbf Keane has paid more money then he should have for a lot of players but you can't sit there and destroy him for letting Rhodes move on, I mean did Rhodes even play for the first team at Ipswich?

What the fuck are you on about?
Rhodes left Ipswich when he was 19 and everyone knew he was talented and probably on the verge of breaking in to the first team. He'd played a few times for them, and he wasn't average so much as young.
K3V0
It's pretty obvious what I'm on about.
Claiming the transfer of Rhodes shows how little Keane knows about football is fucking stupid. Rhodes wasn't a first team player and he wasn't banging the goals in for Ipswich. Keane acknowledged it would be a risk letting him leave because he was talented but he chose to put his faith in Conor Wickham instead.

He wasn't a first team player and he wasn't banging the goals in because he was 19 and spent his least season on loan (where he was scoring goals).
I don't know why people are getting off on the idea that if you're not world class by 18 you're shite, Scholes and Cleverley didn't become first team fixtures at United until around the age of 22 (to give an older and more recent example) and just because a 19 year old kid wasn't playing regular football doesn't mean he wasn't good. A fact attested to by the fact that he went and scored 20 goals at Huddersfield in his first season. Everyone at Ipswich knew he was good, and Keane sold him whilst most thought he was the best of a bunch, which included Connor Wickham (who, tbh, Sunderland got absolutely mugged off for.

great Bournemouth close to get 3 points but Swindon saved by scored last mins to draw 1-1
Bournemouth still unbeaten 18games, they are equal club record!!!!
K3V0
I never said he should have been world class by 18 or 19 and I never said he was shite.
What I said was it was wrong to say Keane knows nothing or little about football because he let him leave. Keane himself said it was a risk to let him leave, so he obviously knew the lad could potentially go on and become a very good player.
He is a very good striker and he won't be playing Championship football for more than a year or two, if Blackburn don't get promoted someone else will come take him off their hands, but before his stint at Huddersfield he hadn't played much first team football and he wasn't worth much more than what they paid for him. Obviously following that spell he's worth a lot more, is he worth the £8 million Rovers paid for him? I don't think so and neither was Conor Wickham.

I don't understand how people can come out and say he's a shit manager considering he came in when Sunderland looked likely to get relegated from the Championship and in the end won the league.
His main problem is he comes in and wants to change everything straight away. He wants winners at a club and he doesn't know when to put a hand around players when they're feelings are hurt. Sunderland wanted to challenge higher in the Premier League and that was always going to be tough for a manager with little experience.
As for the job at Ipswich, much the same, came in and spent money to try make sure they got to the Premier League and when they didn't it was always going to end badly. He needs to take a job at a club that he can build slowly at and over time he can work things his way, if he goes to another Championship club chasing immediate promotion he'll struggle.
Phoenix Arrow
You mean higher than bottom?
He did average at Sunderland and was horrific at Ipswich.

A sign of a good manager is not failure whilst spending a lot of money.
He did well at Sunderland, initially, by spending a hideous amount of money. Then spent even more money and couldn't improve. He spent ridiculous amounts of money at Ipswich and kept making them worse.
He's a poor manager, and you're only defending him because he used to play for United.
jumberto
He's a crap manager.
K3V0
I'm not just defending him because he's played for United or because he's Irish before someone mentions that. Is Mourinho a shit manager because he never won the Champions League with Chelsea despite spending a fortune, I mean the real goal at Chelsea was to win the Champions League?
In his first season how much did he spend? About £7 million, that's hardly hideous and won promotion to the Premier League in his first season.
How much do sides get after promotion to the Premier League? He's spent money like every other manager out there would do to try and stay up, if you don't spend then there is a good chance you'll go down. He overpaid for some players and also bought some players that he shouldn't have, errors I'd attribute to him being a new manager and probably out of his depth at Premier League level.
He spent £8 million according to the BBC at Ipswich.. I'd hardly call that a ridiculous amount, especially considering the goal at Ipswich was to get them back into the Premier League within two years, I'd actually say that's not a lot given Jordan Rhodes joined Rovers for about that amount and that's one player.
I mean what's the expectation here? That an inexperienced manager comes into a club spends nothing and wins immediately?

Err...
You don't watch much Championship football do you?
K3V0
Do explain?
EDIT: Watched enough to know recently that a manager can be sacked despite his side sitting one point outside the playoff places and another walk away despite his side sitting in third spot.

He then apparently spent a net £54m, on Craig Gordon, Kenwyne Jones, Kieran Richardson, Michael Chopra, Andy Reid, Greg Halford, Paul McShane, Danny Higginbotham, Phil Bardsley, Rada Prica, Dickson Etuhu, Russell Anderson and Roy O'Donovan. Pretty much all of them did next to nothing or flopped. Keeping Sunderland up on the last day (I think).
The next year in comes Anton Ferdinand, George McCartney, Steed Malbranque, Pascal Chimbonda, El Hadji Diouf, Teemu Tainio, Djibril Cisse, David Meyley and David Healy for a net £20m. He leaves halfway through, and Sunderland survive on the last day again.
