I wouldn't worry Numb i can't really see the Toon Army going down, the team compared to a few years ago that went down are alot better plus you've been missing Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa which are your two most creative players and your midfield "General" as it were. I think you definitely need another striker cause if Cissé get a bad injury your are in trouble but i'd probably be concentrating on a defender cause apart from Colocinni and Taylor your center backs are not good enough by a long long way.

In all honesty who can say that they don't try and unsettle a player that they're after in the hopes of them requesting a transfer or complaining about not having offer accepted for them?

It's less the relegation threat - it's troubling but we should be able to pull away a little with a few good results - and more than we need more players but don't ever seem able to sign them. With any luck we'll either get some players or those coming back will not only help but stay injury free this time but I'm not quite so confident we'll be able to sign the 2/3 players we actually need.

QPR's summer transfers remind me of the times I let my little brother have a game on Champ when we were kids. Perfect place for him.

I can see where your coming from, Mike Ashley is a funny character he's not got enough money to put towards new players but he's got enough to try and get a foot in Rangers

Shows what I now as I thought UEFA prohibited such moves.

Some Newcastle fans think that Ashley is looking to make back his cash then sell up in a year or two, which wouldn't be too surprising, but surely he knows relegation would completely decimate us as an asset.

I think people go far to far with their criticism of Harry, yes he's unlikeable, yes he's a tax avoiding shit and yes he's not a tactician. But I think he'll keep QPR up, he did well with Spurs (better than say, Mancini in Europe with less resources) and I, think, he's only spent money that he's been given by chairman.

I don't really know the ins and outs at Portsmouth but I wouldn't imagine it was him, rather than say the chairman that sold them up the financial shitter.

Last season people was talking about Ashley like he was a genius.

He sold Caroll for 35 million, found several good replacements with that money, then competed for the Champions League places, all while keeping the club financially healthy.

Normal service has now resumed.

At Portsmouth, Redknapp had a clause in his contract that meant he got 10% of any transfer fee. Cue scores of players moving in both directions followed by financial meltdown.

Obviously, but if there wasn't money to sign players and no one stopped him from doing it then that's surely a fuck up higher up the food chain than the manager.

I'm wouldn't be surprised what with Pompys position within the PL at the time if most of their top players had bonuses and automatic payrises in their contracts that got activated if they won a cup competition as the chairman wasn't expecting to win anything only maintain PL status and so when they won the FA Cup they fucked themselves over

Yeah but last season, much like this one the teams outside of the top 4 weren't exactly the strongest. Granted they had some great buys but all they did was replace the awful players who were in the starting line up and put them on the bench, if Cabaye or Cissé had got injured last season they would of been nowhere near the top half of the league

BBC Sport's Ben Smith says Southampton are closing in on the signing of Norway defender Vegard Forren after the 24-year-old pulled out of a week's trial with Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Molde player had been expected to arrive on Merseyside after Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers invited him to train with the first team squad for the remainder of the week.

"However, Southampton have now had a £3.5m offer accepted for Vegard Forren, who has since travelled to the south coast with a view to completing his move. Everton had previously been interested in the defender only for their interest to cool markedly in recent weeks."

Annoyed we didn't get Loic Remy but there's no way I'd want the club to pay £100k a week to a player that hasn't set foot in the Premier League.

If Harry doesn't keep QPR up they'll be in trouble... Apparently Remy has a clause that allows him to walk for completely nothing if they get relegated.

Would LUV IT if we got him for free in the summer.

Surely that's got to be rubbish.

I mean QPR haven't exactly done great business of late but that really would be one of the most moronic ways of doing business ever heard. Buy a player for a decent fee, pay him £100k a week and then let him leave for nothing if you go down.

It's reported in a few of the national papers this morning - unsure how true it is.

Pretty much an "all-in" move from Tony Fernandes. Also - apparently Redknapp is now trying to snatch Vegard Forren from under the noses of Southampton. Does he have his own scouting system or does he just buy other clubs transfer targets?

Sky Sports are sitting here trying to convince me that Loic Remy is picking QPR for footballing reasons rather than the extra £50k a week too.

Hope they don't end up like Portsmouth.

I think they've a lot more money floating about than Portsmouth ever did so I'd say they're safe unless the owners decided to fuck off and leave them in the lurch. No way Remy could believe QPR are a bigger club than Newcastle, maybe they would be if they'd held City off on the final day of last season.

It's just annoying - Redknapp fucked us over when we tried to sign Modric, he fucked us over revealing Ba's release clause now he's fucked us over again signing Remy.

Having a player on £100k pw in the Championship is great business!

Remy would be idiotic not to go to QPR. Go get paid a fortune, leave on a free, negotiate a bigger deal as Newcastle or whoever don't have to pay a transfer fee.

Anyway - Time for Ashley to prove his transfer policy works, and sign 'plan B' or 'plan C'. Linked with Siem de Jong today.

Perhaps you've not heard of players having their wages cut in that circumstance.

Much better idea than a player you've spent £8 million on in January leaving for free in June.
