About time we had a new thread for the upcoming season.
First day fixtures as follows:
FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST
Manchester United v Leicester City
SATURDAY 11TH AUGUST
Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur
AFC Bournemouth v Cardiff City
Fulham v Crystal Palace
Huddersfield Town v Chelsea
Watford v Brighton & Hove Albion
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton
SUNDAY 12TH AUGUST
Liverpool v West Ham United
Southampton v Burnley
Arsenal v Manchester City

It has finally happened, as we all knew it would. Another manager departure poorly handled by those in charge at Stamford Bridge. Don't know where he will end up with his wonderful hair piece but I imagine it will be back in Italy. Napoli's Maurizio Sarri has been the expected replacement for a while now, but no official confirmation has yet been made.
I wonder if any other managers will fall by the side in pre-season?

No idea on the bottom as gets harder each year to predict though if I had to pick one it would be Cardiff as a certainty, so expect them to now make mid table...

At the other end, Cardiff have to be favourite to go straight back down. Fulham and Wolves may have come up with them but already look like decent Prem sides from their signings! Crystal Palace are down there I think, even if they hold on to Zaha. Assuming Benteke is as poor as last season too. That third relegation is another tricky one. Could Burnley have bitten off more than they can chew with Europa League games? Another club that has failed to sign anyone also. Brighton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth are teams that imo will always be close to the drop. Southampton shouldn't be but I don't rate or like Mark Hughes so it wouldn't surprise me.
If I had to, I'd go like this :

Think Spurs aren't exactly hurting themselves by not bringing anyone in. They will have to bring in a CB if Toby goes but they should be alright other then that.

To be honest, they are right! Why even go for someone who scored 23 goals in 3 seasons when you have potential in your squad such as Gayle?

Still would've preferred to send WBA Joselu instead of Gayle. Though not really convinced by either at PL level.

I don't think Gayle is that bad either, just doesn't suit how Newcastle want to play.

tbf that's a them I'd rather have Merino/Colback than Ki, Mbemba rather than Schar or Fernandez, and Mitrovic and Gayle than Rondon and Muto.
But the team beat practically everyone from January onwards - and we've still got that team plus four more. - We've only sold players the manager expressly didn't want.

Brighton are my tip to struggle - they may have made the classic second season sign better but more unsuitable players - see also Chris Hughton's Norwich - when they brought in Hooper, Fer, Van Wolfswinkel and Redmond and everyone said they 'won the transfer window'.
My God - remember when a £25m splurge which includes Gary Hooper was considered a coup?

Burnley also they give away loads of shots - but barely concede - and they now have a goalie who can't dive to his left - as well as Europa games to contend with

And so is Luke Shaw. Glad to see him playing again and even scoring his first senior goal. Let's hope he stays fit and gets a good season because I really don't want to see Ashley Young at left back for England again!

United didn't look great mind, thought Fred looked all over the place and picked up a debut booking. Leicester dominated after going behind, a more capable team going forward would of had united on the back foot I feel.

Fulham have had a better summer than Wolves of the two big-spending newbies, although part of me wouldn't be that surprised if Cardiff scraped their way to survive, as that seems to be the done thing now. Watford look like they could struggle if only because I wasn't that convinced by Javi Gracia, especially away, and they don't seem to have solved their problem at centre-forward, although their midfield is still pretty good. Europa League and only making 3 new signings means Burnley are going to have injury problems, although Leicester last night did have potential.
But you know... my pre-season guesses are usually wrong.
