It doesn't expire until 2014, mind.

No, but it will significantly lower Valdes' worth should anyone bid for him now hes said he ain't signing a new contract. Barca want De Gea apparently.

He's going to be 37 isn't he?

I'd be surprised if he didn't just retire.

Barca can fuck off, as well.

Apparently Remy didn't even talk to Newcastle but rather favoured a lie-in

Valdes is 32 next year. Goalkeepers prime.

Haha, where the fuck did I get 37 from?

Yeah, then he'll move on. Swap him with Reina and be done with it.

Seems Juve have agreed a 4 year contract with Llorente worth €4.5m a year. He'll be joining in the summer which explains them scrabbling around for a short term solution like Drogba or Lisandro Lopez on loan. Also, Galliani is meant to be flying out to Spain next week to agree some sort of loan deal for Kaka.

He'd get into the majority of the teams in the Premier League so I'd say he's pretty decent at his job.

Also - Newcastle agreed a fee with Montpellier of around €8m tonight for that centre back with the ridiculous name according to the Twittersphere.

I don't rate him. He's always been Barca's weakest point I felt, always having a mistake and never felt secure. Of course you've got to be pretty decent to play for the best team in the world, but I don't think he'd be an improvement on Reina.

Have you not been watching Reina the last few years?

He's exactly what you described in Valdes, inconsistent..

Valdes shits on Reina from a height.

It's popular to slag him off but the truth is he's a really good keeper. You don't play 500 odd games for Barcelona during their most successful period if you're rubbish. They would have replaced him, it's not like they're scared of spending money.

He's essentially an 11th outfield player at times for Barca, his distribution is really good. The risk associated with playing this way means you're going to concede the odd goal that looks like a terrible goal keeper error. Anyway, Casillas has made loads of mistakes down the years and yet he's roundly described as the best keeper in the world.

Yeah Valdes doesn't shit on Reina.

Reina's been very inconsistent for the past 2 years, but before that at his best he was up there as one of the best. -

Maybe I'm the only one, but I've always found Reina incredibly overrated. Especially by Pool fans.

That's the one.

And, I think he'd be an improvement on Reina - he's always liable to make an error too. However Reina is also one of the best keepers in the league so it's unfair to judge him based on that.

Meh, I think its really hard to tell how good any of Barcelona's back line is. Valdes more than most. The way Barca play allows them to get away with a lot that other clubs would suffer for.

Fee agreed according to Sky Sports News which most likely means he'll sign for QPR on Tuesday.

He won the golden gloves a couple of times in his first few seasons but for the past couple, he hasn't been great.

Just checked it on Wiki and he won it in his first 3 seasons 3 times. Although I think one of them was joint with Cech?

I thought he was joint with VDS one season but VDS actually won it because Reina played more games, or something like that.

Wasn't that in the 08-09 season when VDS went something like 11 games without conceding in the league? Reina won it in 2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08.

Ahh, this clears it up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League_Golden_Glove

Didn't realise VDS had 30 clean sheets. That's fucking amazing.

After QPR beat us to Remy last week that would be fucking typical.

Whilst it's a decent achievement, Reina has had few injury problems and next to no challenge for his starting position so he starts nearly every match.

In each of the 3 seasons he won, Chelsea conceded fewer goals than Liverpool and United also did in 2 of them, but they had injuries/rotation meaning the clean sheets were shared out more.

He'd get into a few sides, but it would be based more on reputation of being Barcelona keeper than his ability.

He's a mid-table quality keeper.

More importantly though, appears there is some sense at Chelsea with A.Cole appearing to have agreed a year deal for next season. Now hopefully the same with Lampard, will be furious if he goes.
