@Rocco17, Yeah just a tough draw in the ACL I'm afraid! It does help being the best team in the league when all you want to do is win trophies!

@Dan, That's what you get when you miss a few days of updates haha! I move quickly. China was a disaster but I've turned things round in Malaysia!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/k7OmA3VEBLrGZpBkGNIKhGDWi0r0BkcyZR4yD3IJ.png

My 2nd Season in Malaysia is in the books and what a season it's been! I'm astounded with what we've been able to do and what we've been able to win. I've entered the Malysian Managers Hall of Fame and I've only been in charge of teams there for 2 seasons. Incredible. I asked at the end of the seaosn to start my next coaching badge and the board said they need me at training even though we are on a break. Onto the results...

LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

ARGH, we went so close to going unbeaten in the 2nd half of the season. We went and lost the 2nd to last game. It's so annoying but I'm not going to complain! It was an incredible 2nd half to the season and we improved in the places I mentioned last time round. We turned those defeats into wins. The main thing for me was that we only conceded 6 goals and kept 7 clean sheets out of 11 games. That's pretty damn good if you ask me. Our record in this half of the season was: 8 WINS, 2 DRAWS and 1 LOSS.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cUWgF31QMh8FAwGEuQKj9ZlnN8HC3dODkV6nr3Bh.png

I thought we had blown it when we stumbled at the end of the season. In the end, we managed to falter across the line just in 1st position! WE ARE CHAMPIONS OF MALAYSIA! The boys performed excellently all season and we ended up on 50 points. 1 measly point ahead of Kelantan in 2nd position. A great season topped off with a trophy!

MALAYSIAN FA CUP CONCLUSION

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bg0gRlxVYi512c0m8dgRIvXrDyAul6aTm55kVGxu.png

It was plain sailing in the conclusion of the FA Cup. We didn't concede a goal in the semi-final or final. Comfortable wins in both of the legs of the semi final against Felda Utd meant that we were drawn against Selangor in the final. We dispatched them 2-0 to claim the trophy. The third of the season!

The Malaysian Cup followed the script for us as well. We were placed in Group B and ended up finishing in the runners-up position after a couple of bad results in the middle. The main thing was that we qualified and were into the Qtr Finals. A brilliant 3-1 win against Kelantan in the first leg helped us proceed to the Semi-Final as we only drew in the return leg. The same format in the semi-final as we stormed to a 3-0 win in the first leg against Negeri Sembilan and scraped a draw in the return leg. The final was a brilliant game. It took extra time to decide it and a dramatic late winner from Kamran Tamang in the 121st minute. It's safe to say I lost it when it went flying in!

@Rocco17, thank you, dude! It was a quadruple if you add in the Charity Shield as well but no one likes to count them haha. I should go down as a legend in Malaysian Football so at least I'll be remembered somewhere.

I've landed on my feet again in a new county. I've made it over to Korea this time and I'm loving where I've been hired. Suwon FC were the team to take the chance on me in this new league. Last time around they narrowly missed out on promotion to the top league after finishing in 3rd position. I've been tasked with taking one step further and getting them back to where they belong. I'm not expecting success straight away but may be here for a couple of seasons at least.

Suwon FC are a professional Korean team playing in the K League 2. They were founded in 2003 and have 4 trophies in there cabinet. The K League one occasion in 2010, the Korean National Cup on 2 occasions and the Korean Presidents Cup once. Not a bad little history but there is definitely a chance for me to write some more pages in their book.

[i]The average ticket price for a game is £4 and they average 1200 season ticket holders. The club has no fierce rivals or even local rivals so no derby days for us this year.

The team play their home games at the Suwon Stadium which has a 24,607 capacity but only allows 11,808 for normal matches apparently.

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LRCf0I80ix7FW9v08BGNfz1NfcQCSxsb2UeHls70.png

I've got a small squad available to me, and no goalkeepers in that squad. I'll need to address that as soon as possible and also will probably need to make some more additions to grab that extra quality to make the extra push for promotion. We do have quality here already but need more.

[i]Yun Min Ho is the best player at the club. The experienced CM has some great technical skills and also had excellent mental attributes. He should be the main man this year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0Rbu5JyIBWXM7M2lIyyTceQcZZrQ4PIemqXrqDCD.png

Cho Yu-Min is the man I'm looking to score the goals this season. He's racked up years of experience in the league and has scored a fair few goals. I hope he can continue this season.

@Dan, it sure was. It does help when the top team offers you a job though. I'm sure they won't all be as easy as Malaysia but that is the beauty of this challenge.

Pre-season is complete and our preparations are also done. I didn't have long until the season started due to being hired late on but I've made a few additions in the transfer market and hopefully, these will slot straight in and help us right away. I don't know what to expect having never managed in South Korea before but I'm sure it will be fun.

As I said before, we didn't have long until the season started so we could only fit in 3 friendly matches to test our my new tactic and install my philosophy into the lads. It was a very successful pre-season campaign as we won all 3 games. We managed to score a total of 8 goals but we didn't manage a clean sheet (not surprising since we have 2 new goalkeepers in the squad. This can only improve for the season. A good win against Huanghai who are in the league above shows we have quality in our team and we should be set for the season ahead.

TRANSFERS // IN

Choi-Sun-Woo // GK // Free Transfer
[i]Choi-Sun-Woo is a young prospect who will be my back up goalkeeper this year. I needed to bring in 2, so he is my younger one ready for the future. He's got amazing reflexes for an 18-year-old. I'm hoping he becomes our number one quickly.

Choe Bong-Jin // GK // Free Transfer
Choe is our more experienced goalkeeper and is my number one for this season at least. He's got pretty decent stats for a keeper at our level and should be reliable between the sticks this time around

Zhong Wengsheng // RB // Free Transfer
Zhong is an extremely talented right back that improves our squad no end. He's Chinese and has decided to come across to play for us after drawing interest from some higher placed teams so I'm over the moon to have got him.

Vasilis Lytras // CB // Free Transfer
You may recognise the name from my last job. He got released by Johor DT and I jumped at the chance to improve our squad. He's a quality CB and I'm lucky to have him once again. First name on the team sheet.

Turns out managing in South Korea is a lot harder than it looks. My aim this season by the board was to gain promotion by winning the league. All I can say is that we are a long way off that, infact I think it's already impossible and we're only halfway through the season.

LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BGRkjoeUbIbgnS8S0wWfC7GrTVksyIqCmfA0CtHa.png

As I said above, things haven't gone to plan at all. In fact, we've only won 2 games out of the 18 we've taken part in. That's not exactly the promotion form of champions, is it? Our overall record for the league so far is: 2 WINS, 7 DRAWS and 9 LOSSES. It's also quite frustrating as we've been winning late in games and we just can't hold on. If I'm to keep my job much longer that stat needs to change. I also need reinforcements as the squad clearly isn't good enough.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CpSY0Jbu3NfjHQj6qZfi0ZLle2r1cZqBgMgkYI5D.png

We sit 2nd bottom of the league after 18 games. What the hell has happened to me? It was far too easy in Malaysia and now I can't get a win out of anywhere. I honestly can't see me keeping my job much longer and maybe I just jump before I fall. I'm not a quitter though so I will see it out.

FA CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/3hpi5Ue1ZkIZYRIBgrapFJk1jg1CwkZZIYDQ0pq4.png

We actually did alright in the FA CUP and I'm quite happy with how we performed. We got to the 5th round and eventually got knocked out by a team performing really well in the the K League 1. No complaints from me here.

How long will I last?

Well that didn't take long at all. I managed to last one more game in charge of Suwon FC. We lost a crucial game 1-0 against Daejon and apparently, the players lost faith in my ability and it left my job untenable. So I'm now unemployed once again.

It's been about 6 months since I received the sack from Suwon FC in South Korea and it's taken me ages to find a job worth applying for. I was quite picky when choosing because I don't want another Suwon episode as I'm calling it. The perfect job opened up for me in early December 27', and I applied instantly. They interviewed me within 2 days of applying and hired me a day later. Geylang Int. are my new team and I'm excited about whats to come.

Geylang Int. are a professional Singaporean team playing in the Singapore Premier League. They were founded in 1974 so have some history to their name. The club is nicknamed the Eagles which is why there is one on the clubs logo. The team has won a number of trophies in their past with the most recent being in 2027 when they won the Singaporean Cup. They also won the league in 2026 so not too long ago. In 2025 the club won the [b]Asian Confederations Cup which is no mean feat for a team from Singapore. Exciting times ahead.

[i]The average ticket price for a game is £2 and they average 850 season ticket holders. The club has no fierce rivals or even local rivals.

The team play their home games at the Bedok Stadium which has a 4000 capacity with most of that being seated.

Quite a large squad to hand at Geylang Int. It's a mixture of quality, experience and youth. I'll be looking to use the youth quite a bit here I think as they have a lot of talent in there. The best player is only 18 years of age.

[i]Syazwan Azri is the best player at the club. The 18-year-old Striker scored 8 goals in 17 appearances last year and will only get better. He's a pressing forward and I look forward to using him well this season.

Pre-Season 2028 is all over and I've not been as active in the transfer window as I'd have liked but I've brought in two players that will start instantly. We've had some good results as well and I think we will do well this season. (famous last words eh)

A nice and short pre-season in terms of the number of games played. We managed to win all 3 games we played and against some good teams too. None at the same standard as us but challenging games nonetheless. We scored 7 goals in these 3 friendlies and only conceded the 1 goal. If we can continue like that into the season we will be fine. I've gone for a new tactic with the team and hopefully, they will score more goals than I've been scoring before.

TRANSFERS // IN

Dmitry Orlov // CB // Free Transfer
[i]Dmitry is a solid centre-half. He comes with a great recommendation from my scouting team. The Moldovan will take up my 3rd international player spot and will be the rock at the back I'm hoping.

I need a player for the middle of the park and Tan fits that bill. He's a defensive player and will hopefully be the link between the back and the middle. I'm hoping he's going to be a bit like Fernandinho for City.

I'm absolutely loving life here in Singapore. My tactic is working just as I wanted it to and things are looking good for us. We've performed well both in the league competition and the continental competition. I've got a few bits of Manager information to fill you in on first though...

MANAGER UPDATE

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aannYGTJym2U1Vdw5BLJkNIu292vD3xZKmwu976F.png

The first bit on information about myself is that I've found a board that has allowed me to start my next coaching qualification. I'm now currently studying for my Continental B Qualification and then hopefully they'll allow me to start the next after that.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QB4ZX59pvRUUxiuLOrWOoMG0yBv9CCaBptReeJ5x.png

The next bit is that I've reached 300 games in management. It's come around really quickly and I've actually achieved a fair bit in these 300 games. Here's to the next 300 games.
139 WINS, 77 DRAWS, 84 LOSSES

SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/S4Q93QHpAnYGSYgbpHOPp6tNtiy0DIcftdaRxaHu.png

WHAT A FIRST 12 GAMES IN CHARGE. The only blip was at the beginning and I immediately thought "oh no, here we go again". We turned it around straight away and went on a ridiculous run of 10 games where we didn't lose or draw. 10 straight wins in the league are no mean feat and the boys have done so well. The other blip came against fellow highflyers Niigata Unicorns. Can we keep this form going into the last 12 games. I think so.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/04Epm0g0hIIOMdJgQxxaP8jFBaaIzhCI1HgzcHxH.png

We sit comfortably top of the league table with 31 points. We're currently 5 points ahead of Niigata Unicorns who occupy 2nd position but we have 2 games in hand on them so the gap could jump to 11 points if we win both. That is a fantastic lead to have. I can't really say more.

ASEAN CHAMPIONS CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8F2rMhqGfHfuDJzwhOqIIF0h3l7XkhhFOdoZW6Od.png

My first taste of the ASEAN Champions Cup in my career and it's gone pretty well. Not knowing the level of Singaporean teams in the continental structure I didn't know what to expect but we've performed excellently. We were drawn in a group with Bali United (Indonesia), Yadanarbon (Mynamar), and Hai Phong (Vietnam). Things got off to a poor start as we didn't register a win until the 3rd game against Bali United. Our form then took a turn and we won the rest of the games remaining meaning we qualified in top spot. We've got a familiar draw in the next round. Bali United

SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE

We didn't manage to re-create the form we had in the first half of the season but we managed to still do enough. There is still lots of green on that fixture list which is always a good thing. Our form in the first half of the season was just too good to emulate again. We stalled at the end of the season and went on a bit of a bad run letting lots of goals in and losing matches. Anyway we won the main games and that meant...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/isEA7ur14lGRthBYzj6G4DMs1OUOFJDTjUa5uBYV.png

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF SINGAPORE! A fantastic league campaign is capped by winning the trophy. I'm so proud of the lads and things just went right for us! We ended up winning the league by 7 points but it could've been a lot more. We dominated the league campaign to be quite honest and we will go again next season to try and retain it.

ASEAN CHAMPIONS CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1hiDPzZxVXADBk1JAaqtPnfJTmnETFFjFw4eM5po.png

The continental action continued. Bali United were no match for us in the ASEAN Semi Final as we dispatched of them easily 3-0 in both legs. In the ASEAN Final, we luckily got through on away goal after 2 draws. An away goal in the 2nd leg was enough to send us through. The first leg of the Interzone Semi-Final against Maziyawas enough to send us through to the Interzone Final. We played against Asgabat in the final of the Interzone and they didn't test us really as we romped to victory in both legs. This set up a nailbiter against Qasdia in the actual Final! What a game it was and what a Final! It was a draw at the end of normal time and we scored 3 goals in extra time to end up winning 4-3 with the winner coming in the 121st minute!

WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! MY FIRST CONTINENTAL SUCCESS!

SINGAPORE LEAGUE CUP

We were drawn in Group B of the League Cup alongside Hougang United, Home United and Warriors FC. Things didn't exactly go to plan as we only managed the one win. We ended up losing to Hougang United and Warriors FC. You can't win them all eh?

Back to winning ways in the Singapore Cup. It's kind of hard to balance schedules when you're involved in 4 cup competitions at one time but we managed it excellently. We knocked out 2 quality teams in Niigata Unicorns and Home United with 2 massive second leg victories in both. In the final, we dispatched DPMM in quite a boring game to be honest. A trophy is a trophy though and I'll take it everyday.

My 2nd season in charge of Geylang Int. is just as enjoyable as my 1st. I'm still really enjoying it here partly because I'm winning games for fun, but partly because I feel like I've built a pretty decent team. The board and fans love me and I'm here to stay (until I win that final trophy).

SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE

I didn't think our start last year could be beaten but we definitely have lived up to that and surpassed it. We've won games at a canter, but we've also had a shock battering. We faced an in-form Warriors FC who put us to the sword in a 5-0 shock defeat. Our goals have come from a lot of different players as well which is pleasing to see. Playing 3 up front is paying off as we're scoring goals for fun. Our record this year so far: 10 WINS, and 2 LOSSES. Happy days at the moment.

We sit top of the league with a 3 point gap separating ourselves and Hougang United. I'll take this at the half way stage but I'm hoping to increase the gap and really gallop on to another league title.

ASEAN CHAMPIONS CUP

My first time managing in the ASIAN Champions League went ok. As we won the title last season this was our prize. I knew we didn't have much of a chance to get into the group stages but I surpassed the board's expectations by reaching the playoff round. We started off with a very easy win against Ceres (Philippines). We dispatched them by beating them 5-0. We were rewarded with an away tie against April 25. Once again we managed to get through, this time it was a bit more difficult only beating them 2-1 with a late goal. We were knocked out by Japanese side Higashioshoka Rosa who scored a late winner in extra time after we had forced a draw in normal time. Overall I'm pleased with our outing in this competition.

My 2nd season in charge of Geylang Int has come to an end. It's been an even better season than the last in terms of the league. We've surpassed ourselves and hjave played even better football than last season imo. I've enjoyed my time here but is it time for me to move on?

SINGAPORE PREMIER LEAGUE

We managed to continue our excellent form into the second half of the season and racked up another shedload of wins. It's quite ridiculous what you can achieve when you have 3 strikers all scoring at the same time. 8 WINS, 3 DRAWS and 1 LOSS. There is nothing I can complain about at all. We made sure we won our big games against the title rivals such as NIigata Unicorns and Hougang United. These were the key victories in this second half of the season and led us onto this...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/c6VmiyMufl4uz2eYU7aC8fSL8QhKmTudDz6YbIXH.png

WE'VE WON THE LEAGUE FOR A SECOND TIME IN A ROW! This time we managed to set another new points record for the league. We beat our own record of 52 points and notched up a massive 57 POINTS. We won the league by a massive 11 points as Niigata Unicorns were left trailing in second place on 46 points.

LEAGUE CUP

We were placed into a group with Niigata Unicorns, Home United and Hougang United. That's one tough group to get out off, but we managed it with ease. A comfortable win against Niigata Unicorns got us on our way. We managed to labour to a draw against Home United. It came down to the final group game and we qualified after beating Hougang United. This set us up with a Semi-Final match against Warriors FC. We sent Warriors packing after a 2-1 victory as we booked our place in the final. The final was played against Home United and we avenged our draw with them in the group stage with a massive 5-1 victory to win us the trophy. MY FINAL ONE IN SINGAPORE!

UPDATE

We had ticked off the final trophy in Singapore and as much as I'd love to stay here with Geylang Int and maybe win the Champions Cup one day, it's time to move on as it's not a one club save. I've got other countries to tick off. I may return one day though, you never know.

First things first, congrats on the back to back league and cup wins, definitely something to be proud of. O think you've done the right thing moving on, no disrespect to Singapore but I can;t see a team from there winning the Champs league. In all my Asia saves that competition is dominated by Chinese, Qatari and Saudi teams.

Looking forward to see where you end up....

@bigmattb28, yeah it was time to move on definitely! Can't stick around even if I do love the club as it's all about winning trophies. Thanks for reading mate!

@Dan, that's the idea. Will take longer to tick off those European countries though, too many leagues haha!

@AdamRK, Thanks mate, here's hoping success follows me wherever I go.

I'vem moved continents again and this time I'm in Europe. I'm getting closer to home as I've landed in the beautiful Scotland. St Mirren is the team that has taken a chance on me. I've hardly managed in Scotland before but I'm sure it's not really that different to managing in England. It's going to be a bigger challenge than Singapore was that's for sure, but here we go...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AbEylSCkSGSu9hylJt25F80sTc6NmtUFx9SNBotS.png

Club Overview

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2YRfEXiDINT0P5ACLzEflOxJ5ecHfT8x6zfKlINX.png

St Mirren are a professional Scottish team playing in the Ladbrokes Championship. They were founded in 1877 and have a very varied history. They've won the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup and the Ladbrokes Championship numerous times before. Their most recent trophy, however, is in 2018 so no trophy for 10 years.

[i]The average ticket price for a game is £19 and they average 3500 season ticket holders. The club has a fierce rivalry with Morton due to the locality.

The team play their home games at the Simply Digital Arena which has an 8023 capacity which is all seated.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rtHE1nYhvQS2uEjTwPiLOGCcQQL5H97f8RGawCyS.png

Once again I have quite a large squad at my disposal. This is probably a good thing as seasons are longer than I've been used to recently in Asia. We have a fairly strong squad too with a mix of youth and experience. As we are halfway through the season it's unlikely I'll get to make changes quickly.

John MacLeod
John is by far the best player at the club. He's a poacher who's already on form this season having scored 8 goals in his 20 games. I'm looking forward to him continuing this form.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KMTup4kGpin76bXdKUXf8n9ZWEwFxvYw3EUx19UR.png

Fabien Imbert
Fabien is a young hot prospect on loan from Hibernian He's French and has excellent mental and physical stats. Hopefully, he can be a strong player for me.

SEASON SO FAR

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lXrF9eTnvcvoRfrLM6hfiAce2y7jCJJoCKUsCjrk.png

St Mirren currently lie in second place in the table, behind Livingston who are 3 points ahead. I'm hopeful we can keep the pressure on and really mount a challenge to win the league this season. They have been knocked out in the Betfred Cup, but are still in the Scottish Cup and the Irn Bru Cup. Plenty to play for this season.

I've just reached the end of the season here in Scotland and things are a lot more difficult than I imagined they would be. Singapore was far too easy and things are not the same here. I need to rebuild the team and put my own tactics in. Let's see what a good pre-season behind us can do and see what players I can bring in.

2030 SEASON REVIEW

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xy3xK6aXNbdxtaSlomR6w2AEtuoMaZfgx0VATKkM.png

Things didn't go to plan at all. We started off in 2nd position in the league and I reckon you can guess looking at the form above we didn't end up finishing there. We actually only won a total of 2 leagues games in my time in charge. That's not good enough and I'm not happy with that at all. I found it hard to score goals which are a huge problem when you want to win games.

My record in the league was: 2 WINS, 6 DRAWS and 6 LOSSES. That will need to imrove drastically next season.

As you can see, we also reached the Irn-Bru Cup Final where we faced off against an inform Ross County team and came out as losers. I'm so disappointed as I think it's the first cup final I've lost in my career. It was a great chance to get things rolling here in Scotland but oh well, we will have to win it next year instead.

Things looked good in the League Cup until we were drawn against Celtic in the 5th round. That's not who you want to get that early on but I'm hoping to avoid them next time.

IAfter the disappointing end to the previous season, I had to adjust quickly and start making the team my own. I realised I had a lot of older players that were on the way to the end of the careers so I shipped a few off that wouldn't play a big part and either replaced them with youth prospects or signed someone else to come in who was younger and better. I changed the tactic and we are now backt to a basic 4-4-2. I know right, boring! Hopefully. it will work!

FRIENDLIES

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VY7ylAN628060S2tGOrB65RUDpMTW4wv8NlglR03.png

[i] We had only organised 2 friendlies as that's all we had time for. Before the season in Scotland, the Betfred Cup takes place and we've been drawn in a group alongside Ayr, Hibernian, Motherwell and Stranraer. I reckon we can put ourselves about and maybe cause a shock or two. I'm hopeful anyway.
Back to the friendlies, and we got a win against Stockport County. New signing, Jim Alexander grabbed the goal to gain us the win. It was back to earth next, as we were edged out by Sheffield United in a scrappy 1-0 defeat. 180 minutes under the belts for the lads and it's cup time now.

TRANSFERS // IN

David Thomson // CB // Airdrie // £39.5k
David is a young prospect who will slot straight into the starting lineup. He's physically gifted and has decent mental attributes too. He just needs to work on his technical ability but he's got time on his side as he's only 18 years of age.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Zsn18HD4WDlLC6DykM2Z8DiQdyyFpwZD2TLmQaWL.png

Stuart Finnie // GK // Celtic // Loan
Stuart is a quality goalkeeper who has come to us on loan from Celtic. We need to improve in the keeper area and he can come in and gain valuable experience with us whilst also improving our squad. Impressive loan signing if you ask me.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/I9kuh02MpOaDHSma9LF8vDduDzR1onf14J8FCnbC.png

David Lynch // RB // Rangers // £87k
David is a right back with great pedigree in the Scottish Premiership. I'm excited to see him slot into the right back position and immediately upgrade us.

@Dan, I thought it was about time for a new challenge an Europe definitely offers that. Scotland seemed as good a place as any to start the journey.

@bigmattb28, yeah the end of last season wasn't too positive but I have brought my own players in now and things are looking better...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/y1MnZYaRv00WoM5dssHC4H8RFUCoUmmFpl1cr5xY.png

Halfway through the season here in Scotland and things are looking good. I've finally settled on a tactic for the squad and it seems to be working. The players are confident and it's showing in results. I'm still in the process of building the squad and getting rid of the deadwood which is taking longer than I'd like but the squad is coming along nicely. We've also had a new crop of youngsters come into the club and we've some absolute gems. I'll be plugging them into the first team next season I think.

[i]And there we go, after 12 seasons, I've finally ticked off the final coaching qualification. I've successfully completed my Contintental Pro License which should increase my stats and reputation in the game making me more attractive to the bigger clubs when I'm next searching for a job.

LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XZMB4ggIYDhU8dcFkipQV7gmgYx92IHlnbyoFkT0.png

The league is probably what I should concentrate on this season as it would help the finances if we got promoted. It's hard to focus solely on one competition though as we are in a winnable competition in the Irn-Bru Cup as well so it's the two I'm focusing on this time. The league has been full of good results and I'm over the moon with how things are going. So far we've had: 9 WINS, 3 DRAWS and 6 LOSSES. I feel this is good for us and it also leaves us room to improve for the second half of the season. Time to kick on and secure promotion.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NgDXuzcC3He13QyQCBlCHl3vdOq4s9FWJAoYOr8X.png

We lie in 3rd position at the half-way stage and we're only 3 points behind the leaders Ross County. We're in a great spot and we can easily get above them and make that top spot our own in the second half of the season. Just need to secure things up at back more and we'll be golden.

BETFRED CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bYKobFeL35VBYv8a92aL9bwRrP4lGduv845hNm6j.png

As I told you all in my last post, we had been drawn in a group alongside Ayr, Motherwell, Stranraer and Hibernian. Not an easy group, but one I thought we could get a few results from and we didn't disappoint. We beat Premiership side Ayr comfortably and also grabbed a win against Stranraer. Unfortunately, we couldn't get another win to secure the group win as we lost to Motherwell and Hibernian. We finished in the 3rd spot when only the top spot went through. Things to improve on for sure.

IRN-BRU CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AoLBThydAaWYpSo0DVF5JTqdeHywn5pqX4teoXIP.png

The Irn-Bru Cup is quickly becoming a very good trophy for us to enter. We reached the Final last year but came up short at the last moment. We're on our way to the Final this time around too as we've progressed to the Semi-Final where we will face Raith Rovers. On the way to the Semis, we have beaten Kilmarnock, Leyton Orient, Airdrie and Ayr Reserves. Some decent results in there and I fully expect us to win it this year.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ge5uorWlEAxRtPZ6SORx8ytE8btwAAP4eJK5pC6c.png

We've only played the one game in the cup so far, and we comfortably beat Cowdenbeath to progress to the third round. We've been drawn against Edusport who play in the lower levels of Scottish football so I expect to progress.

@bigmattb28, things look a lot better than last year that's for sure!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/y1MnZYaRv00WoM5dssHC4H8RFUCoUmmFpl1cr5xY.png

The end of my first full season in Europe and things couldn't really have gone any better. It's encouraging seeing what a few of your own players can do to a squad and their morale. By getting rid of the old players that don't like change and sticking to your guns things can change quite quickly and that's what has happened at St Mirren. Things didn't look rosy at all at the club after the start I had in charge, but 1 year later, things have changed a lot and the fans and board love me.

LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fOp2YFyhX1RoD9ZE92GHnaZJcO5uWextDLs0lT1q.png

[i]Look at that run of form we had. 11 games unbeaten to carry on our form from the first half of the season. That's incredible to see and it put us in a commanding position in the league. The goals mostly came from John MacLeod and Jim Alexander. It's good when your striker partnership produces the goods. It was a bit like Cole and Yorke and that is always a good thing. We absolutely got battered by a weak Airdrie team which was the most shocking result from this half of the season. Our best result was probably the 5-0 thrashing of title rivals Hamilton.
Our record in the last 18 games was: 9 WINS, 6 DRAWS and 2 LOSSES. Not bad at all.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/U7QUYoRFLDbX114fNiCnTf4HFBLm97qnwBtD4mpg.png

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. We won the league despite our little blip in form towards the back end of the season, but a win on the final day put us on top and left us as CHAMPIONS. We are going up to the Scottish Premiership. We ended up on 64 points, only 3 ahead of St Johnstone in 2nd place, but 3 ahead is all we needed to be.

IRN-BRU CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GBA8FSTRV1DY7ZhZE5uxKVaX4fPXbij3ILcUDkOH.png

We reached the same round as last years cup exploits but this year we also went one better and won the damn thing. We dispatched Raithe in the semi-final with a 1-0 victory and were drawn against Queen of the South in the showpiece final. It was an exciting game to watch and we just about edged it with a 4-3 victory which led me to my first piece of silverware in Scotland and Europe. ONE DOWN!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/49P2QWXRFNgkw7dEiYMg12JbTCp52iZD2t6ADYuo.png

SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dobVe6XxT0wCwd8NBSvVTy3Y9IgyJ9L49Buzh2Vh.png

We easily beat lower league Edusport in a 3-0 demolition meaning we were to play Ross County in the next round. It was another comfortable win against these which set up a tie against premiership Hearts. I didn't rate our chances against them but we performed admirably and took them to a replay after drawing 1-1 in the first leg. In the second leg we ended up taking them to penalties where we lost 8-7. It's a sucker blow to go out on penalties but I expected us to go out against higher opposition so I can't be too hard on the lads.

Great performance in the league there, nothing better than taking the title on the final day, particularly as it looked like you might've thrown it away over the final few games! Will be interesting to see how you can adapt to the SPL and what your expectations for the new season will be. Congratulations!
