Considering much bigger clubs have been after him, I'd be prepared to agree.

Eh?

Big clubs still need to actually buy and pay for players.

It doesn't seem Wenger's style to hijack a player at the eleventh hour. Do Arsenal even need a CB?

He did do that to sign Park Chu-Young though, what a great signing that turned out to be

We probably need a CB as well, beyond the trio of Mert, Kos and Verm is one Sebastien Squillaci, not a prospect I'm looking forward to.

Yanga-Mbiwa is 'an ass' for choosing Newcastle, claims Montpellier president Nicollin:

"He chose Newcastle? If so, he is an ass," Nicollin declared to L'Equipe.

'an ass' isn't the best translation I think

He said "C'est un âne", which is closer to 'a fool' than 'an ass'

Bit rich doing that when he's standing there sporting a blue and orange hairstyle.

Aye being called an ass for joining our club by a guy with a blue and orange hairdo is an unusual touch

As for us, the signings of Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Sissoko and Gouffran, if they all happen, seem to indicate we're keen on giving the French national team their own private national pool.

With all these signings from France it's making me thing Newcastle's scouting department must get preferential rates on rooms in French B&B's and Hotels

Gouffran apparently Tweeted he's gonna join tomorrow.

I still kinda think we could use another striker... but who knows - at £2million he could be another bargain.

Gouffran is better than both Ameobis and Ranger- who else have you got other than a misfiring Cisse?

When Ben Arfa is back he'll be pushed more forward now that Marveaux has came out of his shell and started playing like a top-half player. Think we'll line up something like this:

http://www.footballuser.com/formations/2013/01/625805_Newcastle_United.jpg

Then we'll have the likes of Anita, Marveaux, Haidara, Gutierrez, Steven Taylor to rotate into that squad - looking pretty strong.

This is the same Pardew that attacked Wenger for having too many foreign players, right?

Indeed but I don't think he has any say really in the players we sign - bar what positions need strengthened. It's Graham Carr/Derek Llambias who deal with the actual transfer of players.

However - I'd rather sign Sissoko (2m), Debuchy (5m), Cabaye (4.5m), Ben Arfa (3.5m), Gouffran (1.5m) for a combined 16.5m than spunk 15m on Downing or some other random overrated Englishman. The French market has unbelievable value for money.

5.5m for Yanga-Mbiwa or 24m for David Luiz? I know who I'd rather have.

Newcastles first 11 is very very strong, its just a shame they've never really all gotten to play together that much, Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa are fb and Debuchy and Sissoko could both be really good signings.

I hate the way other teams can just strengthen as easy as that. I'm not gonna lie it's jealousy.

We're still spending the Carroll money tbh. Our chairman doesn't like parting with his own money.

At least Everton have the excuse of being broke - Arsenal have £70m sitting in a pot that our manager refuses to spend.

Moussa Sissoko been suspended by Toulouse for signing a pre-contract agreement with Newcastle apparently.

We're going in with €2m now to take him in January instead.

Will cost too much imo - they want 10m don't they?

Can't see Ashley spending that on one player unless he's exceptional.

I think with Ashley it's more about the value. And he's apparently available. Sporting are currently 8th and out of Europe, so a good time to buy probably.

If Newcastle go down, it will be a case of too many signings too soon.

I dunno personally i think that they should shell out the £10Mil for Van Wolfswinkle as i can't see Gouffran as being anything more than a french Shola Ameobi
