Frequently Asked Questions

If you've never downloaded the pack before, you should just download the larger "complete pack".

If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.

If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.

If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.

Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
You need to copy and overwrite the faces and the new config file from the update pack into the faces folder.

If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.

These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.

Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. It might be for FM24, but the steps are exactly the same.
It's a known issue with FM26 - read this. We're assuming this issue will get resolved in upcoming official patches/updates.
The new players were added before FM26 was released and didn't have the right UID yet. We've started the process of mapping them to the correct person's UID.
When you have a blank space instead of a cut-out, it means there is a config file pointing to a folder in which an image with that UID is not present. This generally happens when an update pack is installed in a separate folder and not part of the overall faces folder, or there is a rogue config file somewhere. It could also be that you have somehow not downloaded the full megapack but only part of it. Search within the graphics folder for the UID of this person, and you will probably find the secondary image. Delete that folder, and it should be fine.

Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
In line with guidance on the official SI forums, At present, FM26 cannot handle multiple files with the same name. For example, if you have two files with the name "kit.png", it will not load both. and Player Faces: These work fine. You do not need the icon files anymore, and they can cause issues with the note above. Delete them.

As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
The torrent file includes the base megapack uploaded just before that year’s FM version is released. Any and all subsequent update packs are to be downloaded separately.
For those who have never used torrents, in the vast majority of cases, it's just a question of downloading the client program (a small file, less than 1MB) and then downloading the megapack torrent file (a tiny file, around 20k) and then letting the program do the job.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.

Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Please report this so that they can be reuploaded. Since the files are hosted outside our pages, there isn't much we can do about this unfortunately. You could try downloading the pack via torrent and get it this way.
Extracting the file will take a while, but it shouldn't take the hours and hours that the program extracting will sometimes say it will. To speed it up, it is recommended that you have as few programs running as possible so that the system can dedicate as many resources to the extraction as it possibly can.

Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
You might have a poor internet connection or your browser might have some extensions which interrupt this download. Having loads of downloads ongoing and/or streaming may also de-prioritise this download.

Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The most recent update pack will include the most recent config file, so you can choose to download it and use it from there.

Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
Down the years, after an update pack was released, it was noted that some images included therein where of the wrong person, with a wrong extension or duplicated. Due to the way the download system is structured, these cannot be removed from the download, so there may well be a couple of hundred images’ worth of difference, depending on the version you download.
Our megapack covers 25,000 teams and it's impossible to cater for these kind of requests since players and staff get transferred or sacked or retire etc and recreating and reuploading 25,000 different smaller packs would be an impossible task. That's why we have all the images in a megapack so that everything is captured therein.
These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that they only appear in your save-game because they were added via a custom file, generally the real name fix file. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.

To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Thanks for your reply!

I attempted moving all of the files into a central folder last night but I only managed to move one of the folders worth of files (10k ish files) in about 4 hours! Whereas moving the entire folder takes a matter of seconds...

I’m not sure how many files in total but I have downloaded all files and all update files so I believe 200k+

Could the fact that I have the individual update folders within the same faces folder be causing the issue do you think?

Thanks

Without seeing all the contents of all the folders and with all the good will in the world, I've a bit hamstrung in what I can deduce of the setup at your end. There's a reason why the whole megapack is in one folder, after all

Can you give me screenshots of all the folders please? Ideally showing clearly how many images are in each folder (you don't have to show all the images [in fact, please don't!] - but I would need to know how many there are).

You have extracted the downloaded files, by the way, right?

Thanks, I’ll take a screenshot after work. Essentially though the folders are all in the right place (I’ve sampled moving a single file and config file into the correct folder and that works fine) but there are 13 ‘sortitoutsi-xx’ folders within the correct folder, each of these containing a ‘faces’ folder with all of the files within these. Hope this makes some sense but I will send a screenshot later there are roughly 10k files in most of the folders I believe with less in the update folders but again I will confirm later.

Appreciate your help

Thing is that the split files are generated and updated completely automatically on the servers so I wouldn't be aware of the exact folder structure of each; I suspect however that the update folders would need to replace the respective images in the main megapack folder.

To be honest, the easier way to solve this would be to make sure that all the images are in one folder and one folder only, as there's a fair few things that could go wrong in trying to maintain the images in the folder structure I believe you have at your end.

But if you post the screenshots later on I'll do my best to help when I get home from work

Couldn’t get it to work adding a config file into each folder so I’ve bitten the bullet and deleted all folders (need the space!) and have started the torrent download! Hopefully it’ll finish before fm20 is released! Cheers for your help

Are you sure the file downloaded fully? Sometimes that's the reason behind that error. Also, try using Winrar to extract it

That should work, but I can't really see any reason why just the faces config file isn't extracting. Working fine my end

**The problem is fixed - apologies**

Since the update I've been having issues with the facepack - most players which used to have a face are now showing the default face.

I've deleted the old pack and have since re-downloaded the newest update but having cleared my cache and reloaded the skin the problem seems to be persisting. Any idea why it isn't working?

Thanks in advance

Shouldn't it be called sortitoutsi_cutout_megapack_11.03_changes.part01 and sortitoutsi_cutout_megapack_11.03_changes.part02?
Those are different files, different sizes.

They're very similar. Both got the "faces" folder with 2663 files, and the "iconfaces" folder.
However, one got 2662 files in the iconfaces folder, while the other one got 2663.

Go with the one who has 2663 iconfaces, and delete the other one.

It depends on how powerful your computer is, but it'll certainly take a good while to extract an 11GB+ file. That's why we recommend doing it overnight, in fact. 4 hours does seem a tad too much tbh, though.
