Any picture will work but make sure its a decent quality photo and not too small, they also need to be renamed to the ID of the correct teams.

i dont get the stadium to appear at all

when i put in the stadium image go on preferences reload the stadium image doesnt appear. what do i click on preferences?

The backgrounds pack needs to be placed in the graphics folder, see below picture.
When the files have downloaded you need to open them and copy over the folder inside, don't place the actual downloaded file into there as this will not work. To open them simply double click on the file the drag the contents over. The backgrounds pack will take a few mins as is a large file.
Once this is all done go into the game preferences and go to Interface and click clear cache, then go back in and choose the Base Skin you want to use then tick Reload Skin and don't forget to click confirm once done. They should now show in your game.

While I'm at it, is there any way to add backgrounds for the Champions and Europa League? Thanks in advance.

Definitely a problem with the config file, why don't you just download the latest pack. It has more clubs, player, staff and competition backgrounds.

The latest pack as in the FM19 pack? I tried that but it didn't change a thing. Either it's not compatible with FM18 or I've been doing something wrong.
