Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Obviously David Wagner felt it was the right decision and the club felt it was the right decision, but there's a lump in my throat. How I wish it could have been Wagner pulling off one last miracle (to go with the previous two).

Thank you, David Wagner. Three years where you made grown men cry tears of joy and make even the most stalwart cynic believe in magic. Huddersfield Town will never be the same again, and it's all thanks to you. Wherever you go next, I wish you every success in the world.

Great post! I can imagine all Huddersfield fans agree.

Who do the fans want next? A short term option who may be able to keep you up (huge task that though.....might even be beyond Big Sam) or a longer term option, even if you get relegated?

I personally want Jokanovic - I think he's a more attacking option, but he'd fit into the ethos of the club. Whoever it is has their work cut out, though. I suspect there'll be a real sense of doom in the squad and they'll have a big job to pick the players up, even ahead of next season. The last thing I'd want is a Moyes or an Allardyce - let's go down playing some front-foot football and shock some people. Give the fans something to cheer - heaven knows we've not had much this season, through little fault of the management. Even when it looks like we might get a rare chance to win a game it's snatched from us in farcical circumstances!

I really can't tell if Dubravka was fouled or not - looked like one in real time but there seems to be doubt either way. Don't think it helps Boly has hands in such a place that it could be seen as one.

I'm a keeper myself, so I'm looking at it through the keepers' union goggles, and yet I don't see a clear foul there. Sure, Boly's hands were on Dubravka's shoulders, but it looked to me like Boly jumped first instead of blatantly pulling or pushing Dubravka down, thus stealing the keeper's momentum so he couldn't jump for it. Also, when I saw the cross come in I thought straight away he should punch it and not try to collect it. Boly had the height advantage plus the advantage given by running forward towards the ball and then jumping, so the back-pedaling keeper really should've fisted it away. I believe that's the very point Lascelles was making to Dubravka right after the goal.

Having said all that, I'm a rather short amateur keeper and that does affect my risk-assessment (and tendency to punch) in high aerial balls.

I do feel for Dubravka and the Magpies in any case. It was a good spirited fight right up to the last unlucky moments.

Yeah I agree choosing to catch rather than punch was the wrong call.

Oh well - we bounced back from that kick in the nads and the one at Spurs the week before with a good win yesterday. Given we were winless in November, we're in a pretty good position with relation to everyone else. Hopefully it continues against Burnley on Tuesday, even if that's not exactly going to be a cakewalk.

Huddersfield do look pretty screwed, mind. Maybe after Smith's red and hitting the post/bar 4 times, anything less than a win would've been pretty painful.

It was a clear foul but he was offside so I don't think it shouldn't have been given.

Well... that pre-season prediction Fulham and their £100m+ splurge would ensure they would finish clear of danger fell very wide of the mark.

Trying to plug so many holes left by departing loanees was always going to cause teething problems

Surprised how they never got themselves out of that rut though

Maybe that's just it - I didn't realise they were that reliant on loanees in 2017-18 until I looked at their squad, and clearly the replacements weren't up to snuff.

Oddly I said at the start of the thread I thought they'd done better than Wolves. Which clearly shows I know nothing. But then maybe its just the case the Wolves manager had more of an idea of how to make a team out of his own big money signings, and none of Jokanovic, Ranieri or Parker did.

While I'm narked we lost yesterday, it does feel that the relegation battle could be over quickly. Cardiff's next two of Burnley and Brighton away feel for them like win or bust games.

Alan Smith really is the worst co commentator in football, questioning the Foyth red card. Caught Simpson knee high with his right boot studs then cleaned him out with the other ffs. Swear they're watching completely different replays to us sometimes...

He's still trying to defend it ffs.

Definite red all day long.

Delighted Liverpool found a late winner yesterday, I said even when we were clear in December that City would still win the league, but its exciting its going down to the final day and we've stuck so closely to one of the best football teams the Prem has ever seen. Will be mad to lose the league title having bagged 97 points and lost just once (should we beat Wolves Sunday).

Rode our luck yesterday though, Newcastle will feel hard done by not getting a point for sure.

Christian Atsu's goal though saved Liverpool going down to 10 men, unless the referee would've bottled it. Just glad we've nothing to play for.

Yeah 100% we should of been down to 10 and then the fact it was Trent who provided the cross for the second Liverpool goal just rubs salt into the wounds.

Unsure if it was a free kick for Fabinho too, think it was for the 5 seconds of pulling etc but not for the moment he went down.

Chelsea confirm themselves in the Champions League next season, Spurs likely to take the final spot unless a dramatic final day swing.

Arsenals best hopes are to win the Europa League now for a root into the cl!

It was a soft decision that's for sure but the linesman had a perfect view of it. I don't think it was a foul personally.

Its something that Liverpool picked up a points total higher than any other PL winners apart from Man City last season and Man City this year. The well dones have to go to City tbf - 198 points in 2 PL seasons and over 200 goals is a phenomenal achievement.

Yeah you have to just hold your hands up and congratulate City, no shame in losing to the best team the league has ever seen. Seen a few people saying we bottled it which is a load of rubbish considering our points total
