So should De Gea tbf
bluemoon.
Your old-man memory must be playing up; he had laser-eye surgery.

Past tense.

For De Gea it's cause he's apparently shit and for Hart it is was the defenders fault regardless

Also I think the reason the press run with this narrative is because they said he was rubbish at the start of last season and really went to town, they don't want to admit they were a bit premature with the criticism so now they jump on any minor error and tear him to shreds.
The fact the rest of the defence has got off scot-free for that Spurs goal proves it, Evra, Rafael, Vidic all made mistakes too.

Guilty as charged. Sometimes its horrible.

I mean, I've seen nothing of him to suggest if £10m (15 if he's any good) is too much to spend on him but when you think you could have Isco or someone for that cash I can't help but feel like Crystal Palace have mugged us off.
Fantastic
He's not going to turn out shit. I mean you'll get at least eight years out of him, even if he doesn't hit the heights. He'll become a good top four player and therefore £15m is a drop in the ocean when you consider the length you'll have him.
Sam
That Hansen article is a fucking joke.
I'm excited to see how well Zaha will do, he has really good potential. I do think Nani is on his way out in the summer now.
Ninja
Obviously, and our record of buying English is pretty exemplar. (Smalling, Jones, Carrick, Rooney etc... even Young is decent, he's just a cock) and I do like the fact that we buy English where sensible, I'm just really unsure when you compare the fee for him to the European fees that we couldn't have found better cheaper.
Ninja
Don't see it.
If Nani goes we'll replace him, probably with James Rodriguez, Zaha won't be the player who forces Nani out the door (besides, Zaha only brings our quota of wingers up to 4, which is what we usually have).

Fantastic
I think players of comparable ability and age are going to cost the same amount. I don't think the price is inflated compared to market average.
Sam
I'm guessing Nani is still pissed at nearly being forced out in the summer to Zenit.
I sadly think his days are numbered here.
I'd like him to stay, despite being frustrating at times.
Ninja
Yeah, I agree, I reckon he'll go at some point in the summer. But I think he'd have gone regardless of signing Zaha.
The only player I think Zaha endangers is Young. If Welbeck is being treated as a Wide Forward/Winger then the combination of Welbeck/Valencia/Zaha/Nani(or replacement) could possibly see Young out the door, and I wouldn't be upset if it did.

Rafael and Evra have been our best 'wingers' this season
TheClassicK
As for Welbeck I like seeing him on the wing because his dribbling, pace, and power are class. His shot isn't bad at all, it's just that he isn't the most efficient with his chances, and if improved, I think he could be a pretty decent inside forward similar to how Ronaldo played here.
I also agree with what was said up there how Zaha costing +10m could've been spent on Isco or somebody else that we actually need. With Welbeck likely staying on the wing we have 4 wingers which is usually enough. I'm still thinking we should spend on a CM since Fletcher's out and the likes of Cleverley and Carrick should have the workload shared.
Ninja
I agreed with that 3 weeks ago, but I've changed my mind. Welbeck's so fantastic outside of the box and (I think it's a mental problem more than anything) hopeless inside of it. He's capable of playing his game from the wing, he'll never be a traditional winger but he definitely can play it as an inside right or inside left, and he'll do a sterling job defensively too.
As for the wings I think we're actually very good there, just have had awful luck this season with injuries and player form. I think Valencia has to be carrying an injury, he's just not an explosive player like he used to be, and that was all he really had in his locker.
That's not why people think he'll be gone.
He's easily our best winger and one of our best players (in fact, he's probably the best winger in the league when he wants to be, only Bale comes close), but he's got a year left on his contract in the summer, its not looking like he'll sign a new one and Ferguson was freezing him out even before his injury. The writing seems to be on the wall.

"The boy has got to brush it aside. Thirty seconds from time, he was a revelation according to most people. He was fantastic and made some fantastic saves. I'm not interested in discussing the criticism now because it's unfounded.
The boss also addressed the situation during his weekly press conference at Carrington, outlining his plan to support De Gea whilst lamenting the pitfalls of being a goalkeeper.
“It is better we deal with David De Gea rather than the press deal with him. I think we are quite good at that. He had a fantastic game and was 30 seconds away from that. I remember talking about how well he played and then 30 seconds from time the ball park changes.
“It is unfortunate for the lad but he has to deal with it. We will help him. Outfield players maybe make 20 mistakes in a game. But they are in a crucial position. We are okay with him."

Some sense from Fergie, also indirectly called Neville an idiot as well.
