Frequently Asked Questions
If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.
If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.
If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. It might be for FM24, but the steps are exactly the same.
Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Im not trying to be rude but why didnt you categorise them while doing the cutouts?

Images are saved as the person's Unique ID (UID). A different UID is given to everyone in the SI database and it is not variable and remains the same through the person's inclusion in the database. There is nothing within the UID itself which determines where the player comes from, who he plays for etc.
It's hard enough finding the time to compare the thousands of images released every month. Can you imagine the additional work involved in:
a) choosing players based in specific clubs for inclusion in a separate pack
b) keeping tabs of player transfers, loans, staff movements etc.
c) doing this on an ongoing basis and keeping track of promotions/relegations?
All of which would need to be done manually.
Let's say each top-division team has got 50 players and staff in their senior and youth squads (very generous estimate). To have the top 5 league's team's squad would entail manually saving 5,000 cuts (50 persons for 20 teams in 5 leagues). Every summer and January, you'd have to keep track of transfers, promotions, addition of youth players etc. Add another 1,000 cuts. And to what benefit? For Tottenham to buy Haaland, Atalanta to buy a Porto player, an MLS player to join a Bundesliga team in-game and they'd have an empty profile. It'd be a never-ending cycle
It'd be a lovely idea, but it's utterly impossible to implement with the tools we have presently...

When you put that way it makes sense, thanks anyway
mrdomac
it makes the game for me, truly, so thank you all.
on fm20, however, i've been having trouble getting the player profile photos to work. oddly enough the icon photos work but not the profile ones themselves.
attached are the following images, and please let me know if there is anything else i can provide to help with the troubleshooting.
here are the file setups https://gyazo.com/2fb6c7794411e6402d66227f76f0ba25 and https://gyazo.com/3595f5f2f0df2832fffbf5b5608caaad, the config for one of them https://gyazo.com/b456146ade2b440daae89b70923c0109, and the settings i use with FMxml https://gyazo.com/2f7df941ed5820b409c43018ef526b1c.
hope there might be something y'all can spot that i am doing wrong! thanks for taking the time to check this out.

Thanks for your kind words
I'm not sure what all the selected folders are in the first screenshot. The setup should be as shown in your second screenshot; remove all the other selected folders from the first screenshot.
What download method did you do to get the stuff from the second screenshot? If you needed to download update packs, they should all go in there. At the end you should have just one folder containing all the faces and another containing all the icons, none of which should contain sub-folders. You don't need to use fmXML yourself; if installed correctly, you'll be prompted to overwrite some files when applying update packs.
mrdomac
i am able to use most of the faces that i have downloaded so far, still have some packs left to download.
running into an issue of having blurry faces now. looks like some of my icon faces might have overwritten profile faces. but i'm not sure.

Im using Mac and have downloaded the file using uTorrent, have extracted the file using the Unarchiver, placed the faces document in a graphics folder and then cleared cache and updated with the box within the interface section ticked and still the faces do not show.
I was having similar problems last year too, is there any solution?
Thanks
Bryn

From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’
Bryn fryer
Thanks for the reply.
I have redownloaded the torrent and placed the faces and icon faces files in the folder within the place you have suggested and still have no success. When I am extracting the file through The Unarchiver it does say some files it is unable to process so I press to continue, could this be the issue? Im not sure what else to try or why I'm having so many problems as to everyone else it seems straightforward.
Thanks
Bryn
mons
Can you try extracting the files with Winrar? I'm not sure what caused the other program to say some files are unable to be processed, are you sure the file downloaded fully? What was the size of the file you downloaded?
Can I have a screenshot of the folder you're placing the files in? And also one of the megapack folder itself?
Bryn fryer
I've downloaded the file again and used The Unarchiver and it did load ok but again when I go to reload skin nothing changes
mons
Looks fine in terms of location. Can I have a screenshot of your faces folder?
Bryn fryer
mons
That looks fine as well, though I suspect you don't have the 12.03 update pack installed - which, truth be told, shouldn't really affect you in terms of the faces not being displayed. How many images in total do you have in your faces folder then? And do you have a config file in there?
And if you go to Harry Kane's profile in-game, is there an empty space where his face should be or is it a black silhouette?
Finally, have you changed the preferences in-game to look like the below:
sunnydevil
mons
You should go from 12.0 to 12.01 to 12.02 to 12.03
sunnydevil
Thanks, this is my first FM, looking forward to it.
Bryn fryer
Its a black silhouette for Harry Kane, I've followed the steps like you said in terms of the Interface section. Theres a config file and also 1394691683 images!
mons
Are you saying you have a trillion and 394 billion images plus small change? I find that unlikely
Can I have a screenshot of your preferences in-game please? I'd like to definitely confirm the settings are correct.
Also, have you changed the user data folder for the game in Steam perchance? You shouldn't need to, though.
Bryn fryer
Hahaha, that would be an impressive Megapack!!! There are 235,297 items, and no I haven't, how would I do that?
Thanks
mons
Looks to me like that's the base megapack 12.0, am I correct? Have you downloaded any of the update packs released since then?
Could you upload the config file.xml contained in your faces folder please? Also, is there any change in player faces if you change skins?
No need to do anything to change the user data folder, don't worry.
Bryn fryer
Yes its that standard base Megapack, I haven't downloaded any of the updates. Ive just changed the skin and everything the same!
Thats the file details, when I click on it it just loads a blank page.
mons
Looks fine both file-size wise and in terms of the date modified.
However, I've just realised that the default location for FM user data files (i.e. graphics etc.) is slightly different than the one you're using. It should be
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2020
but yours is
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Football Manager 2020
Can you check whether the former folder exists and move all your graphics in there?
Bryn fryer
I'll have a look now, I've just looked and i don't have a Library and Application support folder when I go through the Mac Username route and it won't let me move the Library folder. Should I create the Library and Application Support folders myself?
mons
I wouldn't risk it. At this point, I'm all out of ideas mate. The megapack works if installed correctly. There's something wrong in your setup, but I can't put my finger on it
Bryn fryer
I've created the folders and its worked!! Thanks so much for your help haha, have a great new year!!!
mrdomac
your advice worked perfect mons, thank you.

Recently purchased premium membership in order to quickly download these and use them with FM17.
Currently trying to extract the pack, and finding I am only getting speeds ~50-100kB/s.
Have used Winrar and 7zip - no real difference.
Any obvious solutions/things to try? My PC is fairly good, clean of viruses etc. and have never had an issue extracting files previously.
Thanks.
mons
Apologies for not replying earlier, completely missed your earlier post.
I don't know how you've managed it but you've overwritten the cutouts (full size) with the icons (small size). I don't know which update packs you're downloading because the last Ljungberg cutout was in 11.14, so I don't know how far back you've gone.
I suggest downloading the 12.0 torrent file to have the base pack, then downloading only the 12.01, 12.02 and 12.03 update packs to get up-to-date
I believe file extraction is also dependent on how many applications you have running, so if you have FM and a couple of internet browser tabs running for example, it'll slow down somewhat. I also find it speeds up after an slow start sometimes. If nothing else solves it, leave it extracting overnight
