He's just been admitted to hospital in the US with his life in danger apparently.

Aye, unfortunately agree.

He's been clean multiple times and always slipped back into alcoholism.

Going to live sporting events is great. The addition of slides for fans would make it at least 1000 times better.

Newcastle may be having a less than stellar season in the Premier League but somebody inside the walls of the city’s development board deserves an Alan Pardew-esque contract.

According to the Journal Live website, NE1 Ltd have lodged a planning application to install slides behind the Gallowgate end of St James’ Ground.

The idea would be fans could use these slides to move quickly from to the underground train station and car park rather than the long flight of stairs.

According to the report, Utrecht in the Netherlands already have the slides installed where they are known as travel accelerators.

If the council gives them the nod, the slides will be built in the summer.

A spokesperson for the city centre development company, Adrian Waddell said: “The slides are intended to inject some fun into the city centre and we hope people in suits will feel as comfortable using them as youngsters in casual gear. The slides, like our pocket parks, are designed to attract attention and get people talking.”

Quite how the famously shirtless fans will get on when they hit the slide remains to be seen but if it gets the go ahead we want these put in at Croker too.

No doubt some stupid club will give him a second undeserved chance.

Apparently that club might be Wolves. Given their situation they might be mad enough to try it.

I just can't see why any club would even want to risk bringing him in. The amount of baggage that would come with signing him would be insane.

I wouldn't give him a chance unless I was manager of a League Two club and all our strikers were dead or Akinfenwa.

Even this chap is better than Nile Ranger.

Akinfenwa is actually a half-decent league two striker, I'm sure he was Northampton's leading goal scorer (he might still be).

Yeah Akinfenwa has 17 goals - he's the third highest League Two scorer.

Nile Ranger is fucking awful.

The 3 goals he scored for us were all tap in's into empty nets too, in the 50-odd games he played.

He scored one half-decent one at Chelsea when we won there in the Carling Cup but yeah all his other goals were tap-ins and he missed a number of those as well. And it's actually 65 games (more or less) he played for us, which is even more depressing if you think about it.

It's kinda disappointing we offloaded the more able Lovenkrands and Best, but retained that clown.

He's not that bad. If he could ever sort his life out and actually concentrate on being a professional footballer he could probably be a decent PL forward, but not one that will ever score many goals. Big if though.

His goal against Palace was pretty good.

It appears Ben Arfa's playing as the focal point of the attack tonight, I assume it's to give us a more defensive approach tonight. Great to see him back in the side regardless.

Unfortunately Coloccini's apparently out for anywhere between 3 and 7 weeks after he broke bones in his back! Good job we bought Yanga-Mbiwa.

It was that or concede either a corner or throw-in in a dangerous position

It was a good idea, and execution, just a shame the landing wasn't as good.

The most worrying thing about that is that an injury to either Steven Taylor or Mapou means that we have Mike Williamson potentially back in our defence... the horror.

We seem to be doing pretty well in Moscow defensively, but we don't really have a striking option...

We could almost do with them pressing forward more. I think our only real chance of creating good opportunities is a quick counter-attack to make the most of our good passers and Ben Arfa

Someone needs to teach our players how to cross. We've still done pretty well defensively though.

Thought that was a good result, and a decent performance for us. Hopefully we can get a win at St. James' now

Aye, confident of progress after that.

Nice to see us play more "European" in Europe - instead of the kick and rush style we use in the league.
