I literally can not understand any scenario in which current day Ryan Giggs, whether its his 1000 appearance or not should be in a game this important over Rooney.

I'm guessing Fergie's plan is to play Giggs for 60 mins and then bring Rooney on for him, especially if we're in front?

Although I do agree that starting Giggs is a risk.

People comparing this to Beckham being benched in 02/03 for the Madrid match, saying that a repeat scenario will happen. They need to calm down.

Could turn out to be utter genius. Mourinho certainly wouldn't have his team set up without Rooney being taken into consideration and now their game-plan might have to be adjusted with just an hour to go.
