Yeah I'd agree with this.
I felt sorry for Wegner but what do you expect, this Bayern side are excellent all over the pitch. They'd be my tip for one of the final spots.

In 2003 it was changed to being a round of 16 before quarters, before that straight in to the quarters after the group stage.
Definitely hasn't happened since the change, I think it was 95-96 when Blackburn finished bottom of their group as England's sole representative.
I also think that was back when Scottish, Welsh and Norn Irish players were considered foreign, which put the English clubs at a massive disadvantage.

Probably should have been so post-Blackburn anyway, this was just ensuring another season with only CL qualification to fight for.

Pepe, should sign Leno/Trapp/Ter Stegen in the summer. Or Valdes, or Begocvic or Courtouis. And another couple of CB's and the team would be so fb.

And how much of Neuer have you seen to base this opinion on?

Basically every time I've seen him he's been poor. I have no idea what he was doing for Arsenal's goal. Watching highlights of the Bundesliga, and seeing him play in the CL and for Germany occasionally. I don't know how he escapes criticism so much, he's probably made as many blunders as De Gea/ Hart this season.
A game in which Bayern's CB's and GK spent about 75 minutes of as complete spectators. - Which has been pretty typical of every game they've played in this year. They dominate as their full backs, midfield and striker are that good, and play excellently as a team.
I should clarify that they need a new CB to partner Dante, as Van Buyten, Boateng and Badstuber aren't good enough (as starters in a team that could be as good as Barcelona/Real Madrid). Martinez might be that man, I haven't seen enough of him at CB. Dante is class though.

I was expecting a poor result but that hurt. Major changes need to be made in the summer.

In fairness though, you're comparing him to two excellent keepers who for different reasons have their mistakes blown to high heaven. De Gea has made, from the top of my head, about 3 or 4 errors this season that have lead to goals (and arguably there's always been players more to blame than him for each one) but has the mistakes he has made laughably over-analysed by a media that want to see him fail.
Whereas Hart gets ridiculous criticism from fans, because no one in the media does it (I expect this is going to be the case for a while with Hart constantly built up as the best keeper in the world, until he fucks up in a World Cup and the media then set out to destroy his reputation, thats one of their personal favourites) admittedly he's had some stinkers this year, though.
I don't think there's a clear case for any of them being better or worse than the other, and I don't think there's any case for replacing him with players that will inherently suffer the same problem of stepping up to a big club that De Gea and, to an extent, Neuer himself did. Courtois, Begovic, Ter Stergen, Leno and Trapp are all untested at this level and, really, are a gamble for a top team looking for stability (if they're as good as they look they almost certainly turn out to be good, but you have to have the patience through the original errors) especially one that already have a keeper they paid a lot of cash for and has had such a ridiculous record with goals conceded this year.
I think it's pretty unfair to criticise Bayern's CBs as well, Dante is clearly a monster but Boateng and Badstuber are very good players and although I can see Van Buyten shipped out and Martinez used as a 4th choice auxiliary CB (it's the Pep way), and despite the fact they get massive help from one of the best drilled midfields I can remember seeing in recent times I just don't think it makes any sense to go rooting around upsetting a unit thats been that solid this season.

This.
Boateng and Badstuder are both German internationals and very capable. Boateng is maybe weaker defensively that you would like a top CB to be but hes good on the ball and a team like Bayern can probably get away with it more often than not due to strength in other areas. If they were playing teams of the quality of CL teams every week then maybe they would need to strengthen but at the current moment, what they have is good enough.
JCash3000
But is it good enough to win the CL?
Against the likes of Ronaldo and Messi that is..
Dutton
ianbaker
Yes, as a unit.
As Dutton said, they should've won last year anyway. I mean, who thought Germans could miss penalties?

The world went a little topsy turvy that night in Munich.

Before the game I felt it could one two ways, Milan are missing over half a dozen players and would either defend for their lives and maybe snatch a 1-0 win or play like they normally do in Serie A and get pumped 3 or 4-0.
K3V0
Well 2-0 is an extremely good lead considering Barca will now have to attack and that will leave gaps. If Barca concede they're completely fucked because I can't see them scoring 4 against Milan after seeing how well they've defended.

Muntari's only playing because of the injuries to De Jong, Flamini and Nocerino and KPB has been dreadful all season. I wonder what the odds on each of the scoring tonight was?
