Get in Downing. Really thought he'd miss that.

Statisticians Opta: "2 - Both of Gareth Bale's assists this season in the Premier League have come against Liverpool. Strings."

After the two very soft free kicks, I'll take that penalty all day long.

Watched Newcastle-Stoke - our crossing was uniformally dreadful all afternoon so it was good that Stoke's penalty was the kick up the arse we needed to win it. Fantastic stuff - we've got a chance of top half now.

Cisse's finish was awesome. There are a few things sweeter than seeing Stoke lose to a last-minute goal.

Tony Pulis afterwards complete overreaction - since when was a push a slap to the face?

I don't know why it was surprising everyone in the ground that Stoke came to defend and kick us though - that's what you get with Stoke and I thought we played quite well yesterday. Our delivery in the final 3rd was shocking though.

The linesman should be off top-flight duties for a while. Fancy not even knowing the basic rules of the game.

He probably thought the ball hit the Swansea player in the 6-yard box, but the ref should have seen that it hit the WBA player(s)

You'd think after the clusterfuck of Wolves' sackings/demotions clubs in relegation dogfights would be wary about such decisions. Evidently not.

It's not like he was doing a particularly bad job, I'm not sure even Mourinho would do any better with what McDermott had to work with.
At least now he can finally go back to starring in Little Britain.

Scroll down to the bottom to see how the league table would look if all of Lawrenson's predictions were correct - some pretty bizarre placings (Arsenal, QPR, Wigan, Swansea especially).

Reckon there should be an unwritten law that if you take a team up you should be able to see out the season in charge. Unless the manager spends a fortune or is set to do really awful.

Di Canio is favourite Reckon Nigel Pearson might be a decent outside bet.

Apparently on last years table he predicted Wolves ahead of Newcastle

Not sure how likely it would is. But, Nigel Adkins would be my manager of choice if I was a Reading fan.

Manager of the month in January, and now he's sacked.

Football, eh? Bad decision from Reading.

It's bloody ridiculous, to be fair. Even if he had got us relegated, I'd still support him.

Di Canio was at their last home game, hence why he's the favourite

He's only had 20 months in charge at league one/two Swindon ffs! Now he's favourite for a job in the Premier League? Give me strength.

He got a mid-table league 2 side promoted and put them in the play-offs for League One and probably would have got them into the Championship had they not lost Matt Ritchie. Besides, it's Paolo di Canio.

Plus Reading aren't really a Prem side are they? In terms of recruitment. No big player/manager will want to come to them so they have to go for something a bit more untested.

Yeah, if or when they go down, they'll have one of the most exciting young managers in the Championship who would have probably been in the Championship next season anyway had the Swindon board been more accommodating financially.
