If you're playing FM Touch, use this file.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2021 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

I'm at work right now but I'll release an updated version of this later today, with the majority of changes being save-game compatible.
@timeodanaos, I haven't gotten back to you on the Italian rivalries issue because I haven't found a solution to it yet. The entries all appear in the editor but they then don't display in the game. I've tried editing the value, the name and even deleting them and recreating them manually, and still nothing. Looks like the licensing restrictions stop rivals from appearing completely, so there's not much I can about it, sadly...

@mons
small change. There are two "årets fodboldspiller" in Denmark and I got them mixed up 😣
this is right:
"AWARD_NAME_CHANGE" 27042902 "DBU/TV2 Årets Fodboldspiller" "
"AWARD_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 106909 "Årets Fodboldspiller" ""
"AWARD_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 106909 "Spillerforeningen : Årets Danske Fodboldspiller" ""

Betis is called Real Hispalis, which they weren't before I installed this one

This will be because you started the save game with the beta version of the file. There's a workaround for this issue, which is save-game compatible, in the first post of this thread 👍
timeodanaos
I see. Thanks for trying anyways! It is not a huge issue, just a bit annoying...
mons
I agree. Bit of a pity, really. I'll give it another go after the winter transfer update, just in case it's been resolved by then...
Qvordrup
Small mistake
this is there twice:
"AWARD_NAME_CHANGE" 938651 "Onside : Månedens Mål" ""
"AWARD_NAME_CHANGE" 938651 "Canal+ : Månedens Mål" ""
Forsaken
No, I never played the Beta
mons
That's not what I said, though 😉 Maybe you downloaded the beta version of this file.
Whatever the cause, it should be resolved by using the workaround in the first post 👍

This fix does not add or remove any people as far as I know. I've checked the original database and there is nobody with that name in it, nor have I found anybody with that name in previous versions of the game. In short, I have no idea who the guy is and how come he was in your game at some point 😕
thedarkness90
person in question is him
https://gyazo.com/ff2621d0df65bffd1c6f5d9d70cdcbee
and I find him only without putting the fix
mons
No wonder I couldn't find him, his surname has got 2 n's 😉 He's visible in the database for me. If you start a save game with the fix and using a custom database size loading all persons of English nationality, does he appear?
I can't see how his appearance or otherwise has got anything to do with these files, it looks to me to be more something related to database size and/or leagues loaded, which affect what persons are loaded when you start a save game.

I'll take a note of that in case I release a new version of this file before the February/March official transfer update by SI, in which I would assume the above would be amended anyway 👍
wfm18
Yes, I expect that to be changed by SI as well, but in any case good to know.

I'm not sure how I can help with just this information. If you provide screenshots, perhaps I can spot what you've done wrong, because the file works if the installation instructions are followed properly.
dangquang2903
Yeah, this is my problem. I copy all file like instructions. But in the game, name of competition don't change
mons
What language are you playing the game in? Can I have a screenshot of a competition you believe should have its name changed with this file but it isn't?
dangquang2903
Here, this is my problem. I like play Chelsea, but the real name of competitions is English Premier League and UEFA Champions League
mons
Upon second inspection of your first set of screenshots, I'm not entirely sure that is your actual Steam installation folder. To verify, can you follow the steps outlined in this video (for FM21 naturally) and take a screenshot of the location it takes you to?

There's a very simple solution - open the awards file with Notepad and either delete the entries under Denmark or put a hashtag before each line (which causes FM to disregard it). The next time you load up FM, the original unedited entries will appear, even in a save game.
GingaMilla
I'll try that now then! Appreciate the response.
MisterStubbs
As someone who appreciates your work and uses your files I was wondering if you could help me. I’m interested in creating my own name fix file (I like to have names for example Southend United instead of just Southend) and was wondering what process you use in creating these files. Do you pain stakingly create each line in the files or is there a way of creating the file using the editor and then exporting the final to a notepad file for example?
mons
You can do it in 2 ways: either through the lnc files (which means any changes are save-game compatible but the club nicknames will disappear), or through editor data files (which will need to be in place before starting a new game).
Either method will involve you typing in the changes manually, I'm afraid. No shortcuts around it...
However, I do believe there is a file already in the community (possibly in the editor hideaway download forum over on the official Sigames forums) which possibly does what you're looking for already. Have a look for it before possibly duplicating somebody else's work.
