Rooyo
Hello,
i need tactical help on FM20.
I am in my second season with a small Dutch second division club.
The first one worked well because instead of finishing in the last, I contested the jump-offs to climb but failed.
The victories were often by a 1 or 2 goal difference without flamboyant play either.
I applied a basic 4-1-4-1 wide play tactic that matched the squad present.
In the second season, I strengthened the team a bit and made changes from one position to another.
I wanted to repeat the same tactic at the beginning then I looked for tactics on the net to better secure the matches.
I applied the teknotel 4-1-2-2-1 which allows an evolution of the tactics without revolutionizing everything.
But there it was the disaster. Impossible to pass forward, goalkeeper very busy, intercepted passes, frequent ball losses, etc.
So I went back to basic tactics but it didn't improve things at all.
I lose to inferior teams, I have possession most of the time, a good number of chances but the opposing goalkeeper makes crazy saves while mine lets everything pass.
I have the impression that as soon as an opposing player is within 2 meters, my players do not know what to do (even if the teammates are demarcated), and end up losing the ball.
In short, I am ineffective.
Analysis of the last 5 matches:
I need a tactic that brings back efficiency in front of the goal of my attacking trio and that solidifies my defense.
Additional question: am I wrong to give the players their best role at the expense of what has been defined in the tactics?
Example: my attacking full-back left at the end of the first season, he was a big provider of centers. I was able to replace him but with a classic left defender not very good in the center. (transfer budget and relatively low salaries, poor reputation ...)
The basic tactics make him play offensive side but I correct to give him a more defensive position corresponding to his qualities.
thank you in advance
