The young charva element to our support is utterly pathetic and it is at its worst at away games and cup games when they can all site together. Quite an embarrassment in all honesty.

He's scoring for fun in Holland. £14m seems a bit steep but he could be worth it.

Was linked a lot with Chelsea leading up to the January window. "The new Drogba!" and all that noise.

Like McManaman gives a shit about the antics of a pub team. Even if the calling the fans involved 'idiotic' would be an insult to idiots. That whole game is just one bastion of unpleasantness that nobody except possibly Haidara comes out of with any credit.

Fucking mess all round.

Ah the 'taking jokes at face value' error again. Boy I've not missed doing that.

Scoring goals for fun In Holland has never exactly been the best indicator though.

Dirk Kuyt and Mateja Kezman scored goals for fun in Holland. So did Luis Suarez.

The evidence stacks up.

You do have Kezman, Kuyt and Alves. But you also have Bergkamp, Romario, Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy and Suarez, folks.

Suarez, Ronaldo and Giorgios Samaras.

It's not just bad players who score in Holland.

Sunderland have lost Fletcher and Cattermole for the rest of the season. I get the feeling they're going down - not deluded Mag talk as they do seem in deep shit at the moment.

Their next three games are United at home, Chelsea away and Newcastle away - lose those three, which is very possible, and they'll be in big trouble.

Especially with Villa, Wigan and QPR all showing signs of improvement.

I put a tenner on them to go down at 9/1 a few week ago, so I hope they do. They have to play Southampton Stoke and Villa too.

Would be quite funny if they went down after the "Party with Marty" bullshit everyone had to put up with, but I like derby day so would rather they stayed up.

Martinez being an odious cretin again;

"I don't think it was a challenge of any real intent. The incident which happened was unfortunate, but there has been too much talk about it and I think it's a bit unfortunate that a young man has had to suffer that."

"I did have concerns straight away," he said. "All of a sudden you are at the centre of a nationwide debate. You find yourself in that position, but you need to understand he has grown into the football player he is now over the last for years.

"I think he's had enough experiences to know how to cope with it."

"Callum has a bit of an ankle problem," he said. "The next two days will be important and I'm hopeful he will be fine."

The contrast with Nice, who've dealt with a similar situation much classier.

This. Martinez is always going to protect his player and try and shield him from the wrath of the media, and even though I've not agreed with a lot of what he's said, I can understand completely why he'd say it. Dave Whelan's comments were completely unnecessary though.

Claiming that Wigan and McManaman are the victims in this is shocking.

Undoubtedly. That doesn't make him an 'odious cretin', though. It just makes him thick as pig-shit in this instance.

Christ knows he's not the first manager to be similarly stupid.
