This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2023 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Premier League displaying instead of Premier Division. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Napoli) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Alternatively you can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to English Premier Division in your saved game, and it should be renamed to Premier League. If you are in the middle of a save-game when you install this download, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Thanks mons, hope the below is what's needed.
mons
You're missing the quotation marks either side of the path, plus you haven't put in the correct folder name.
It should look this:
but with the path being this one:
BigMarv
Thank you. That appears to have worked.

Hey All,
I need a bit of help here. I'm not a rookie, but just decided now to download FM23 from steam but the license fix doesn't seem to work.
I think the issue is that, although in Steam it says my game is fully up to date, and when I launch the game, it says its version 24.5, I can only pich the 24.4 database to load in.
I guess thats why the license fix doesn't work but not sure. I neved had problems before with this.
Any idea?
mons
Confusingly the game version in 23.5, but the most recent database is 24.5. All seems fine there.
The second screenshot shows 80 files in the editor data folder. How are you sure that this fix isn't amongst them?
Can I have a screenshot of your editor data folder (showing clearly the full path) and also of the custom database section when starting a new game, only scrolled down to where the real name files should be?
grggrg
Thanks, I've reinstalled the game, deleted all documents, and tried again, but the issue still occurs.
Here are two screenshots showing the location of the pasted files:
Oddly, it seems like only Manchester United's name doesn't work:
mons
You have 80 files here:
But none of them are here:
You need to move the files from this folder, to the one in which the above 80 files are included.

Hello, the club names change after loading the game. I create my club names myself and when I start a new game everything is fine but when I turn off and on the game and load a save, the names change to the original ones.
mons
I'll need some screenshots of the files you've edited and the folders you've placed them in, as well as the file(s) itself attached.
Damian Piotrowicz
Here is where I pasted the files and how I edited them
Here is the state right after launching a new game, everything is as it should be
And here it is, after turning it back on and loading the save. Attached are the files I changed
Damian Piotrowicz
Some time ago it still worked normally if I didn't make any changes to these files.
mons
The files have so many entries, I have no idea what exactly you changed. However, since you're not playing the game in the English language, the game will revert back to the entries in English, unless you specify in the lnc file that you want the changes to work in the language you're using by inserting the language in the last set of apostrophes
e.g.
"CLUB_NAME_CHANGE" 1685 "Osasuna Pampeluna" "French"
Damian Piotrowicz
Unfortunately it still doesn't work. I'm playing in Polish and I've added "polski" to the apostrophes whose names change, but it still doesn't work.
From what I changed, I removed the hashtag, as in the guide, and changed the names from Angola to Georgia.
When I replace my file with a clean one in which I have not changed anything and change only one name in it, the problem also appears.
mons
You need to put Polish then, not polski
Adam_NUFC
do i only do this for the most recent update, can i delete older updates folder like 2300
mons
This download should be installed in all the folders, as explained in the instructions.
Adam_NUFC
what about logos do i need to download all updates since the release or just the megapack
mons
As a premium member, just download the most recent full megapack direct from the site and you'll be fine. If you have any issues with it, best to post in the technical support thread/forum for that pack, not here 👍
Nyle Hughes
Hi all,
Brand new to FM23 (played older FMs) Downloaded this pack and followed the install to the letter, still not changing the teams/badges/logos etc.
I've added some screenshots to show that the files are in the right place and I get the 9 options when starting a new game, all ticked.
Can someone help me?
bigpole
Are you talking about graphics or data in the game?
Footygamer
FYI @mons this is from the real name fix file
From here: https://sortitoutsi.net/comments/get/749214
@cameosis this isn't anything to do with the data update and is related to the real name fix which is different, which is why i'm replying in this different thread 🙂
mons
I'll look to sort it for the FM24 version of this file 👍
cameosis
all good, thanks for your heads-up and the quick response! 👍
Ben0404
Do i have to delete the config xml file inside the editor data folder after i paste in the files from the editor data folder from the fix file? or can i just leave it there?
mons
No need to touch that at all.

Hey great help - quick one, I've downloaded FM through Epic Game setup via Amazon Gaming but don't have the full pathway - I don't have the data-database-db-2300 so I can't effect the download & place it anywhere, is their an alternative?
Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\FootballManager2023\data\database\db\2300
mons
I don't have Amazon Gaming, so can't help much, but if you do a search in the game installation folder for files ending with .lnc, you should end up in the right locations.
theo0208
WARNING: For everybod who have got the game through Epic Games (I suppose they'll be a lot since it's free there), the Program Files file is called FM23. I spent around an hour to find it through PC files searching for keyword ‘football’. The complete filepath for the changes above is C:\Program Files\Epic Games\FM23\data
theo0208
I just got it from there and it is properly included.

thank you!
