Kolo Toure is a very good defender. Effectively a perfect replacement for Carragher

Seen rumours of Strootman to United around on Twitter. Some saying his agent said 'everything is agreed' but I can't see who started that off.

Would love him at United. But it'd mean a midfielder signing for us so we'll see what happens.

Fergie may come out of retirement to stop it happening.

Kolo Toure.

Toure's had a good season, could add good depth to Liverpool's defence and he's a free transfer. Pretty smart deal if you ask me.

Kolo is a pretty good defender. Even if Carragher was there this would be a step up.

Because people are stupid. He's not going anywhere.

Also, Kolo's been really good this season.

Monaco are like a 14 yr old playing FM. Buying everyone they can and getting 20 players on frees at the end of the season.

They clearly have a deal with Jorge Mendes, which means there's a 1% chance of a nearly-30 Ronaldo heading there after next season if Monaco are in the CL

Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has appeared on Marca TV to express his willingness to listen to an offer from Real Madrid for his client. Barnett, the chairman of the Stellar Group that represents Bale, said there had been no discussions as yet regarding a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur for the Wales international and he added that in his view, Bale was "worth more than Neymar … he's a better player than him." The Brazil forward has just completed a high-profile transfer from Santos to Barcelona.

Barnett spoke on the Futboleros show late on Tuesday night and although he said that Bale had three years to run on his Tottenham contract, it felt worrying for the London club that he should discuss the forward's future on a TV station with close links to Real. The Spanish club have long coveted Bale and the 23-year-old himself has always considered Real as the dream move if he were to leave Tottenham, who he joined from Southampton in 2007.

Real signed the midfielder Luka Modric from Tottenham last summer for £30m and there is the strong belief at the Bernabéu that Bale will now follow, even though the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, has insisted that the player is not for sale or, at least, that it would take world-record money to prise him from White Hart Lane. Real set the mark in 2009 when they paid £80m to take Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Real's confidence is based on their knowledge of Bale's admiration for them and, also, the intermediary work that Zinedine Zidane has put in on the prospective deal. The club employs Zidane in an ambassadorial capacity. Real, who have parted company with José Mourinho, intend to back their new manager with a marquee signing. Carlo Ancelotti of Paris St-Germain is the favourite to take over from Mourinho.

"If Florentino [Pérez, the Real president] is interested in Gareth Bale, it would be an honour and we'd listen," Barnett said. "But his contract is with Tottenham. We aren't free to talk with anybody at the moment, that's the point we're at.

"I can understand a lot of teams are interested in him. He's a great player but he has a contract with Tottenham. I don't know if there has been a bid [from Real]. What I do know is that the player has three years left on his contract."

Barnett was asked whether he was negotiating a new contract with Tottenham for Bale; Levy is known for his readiness to reward players after stand-out performances and Bale has just had the season of his life. His 26 goals in all competitions for Tottenham, plus five more for Wales, helped him to become the PFA's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year, together with the Football Writers' Association's Player of the Year. "No, we haven't spoken with anybody," Barnett replied.

Make it happen, Florentino.

Apparently Monaco are meant to be under a transfer embargo while the FFF tries to figure out whether their tax status is either in Monaco (0% tax) or France (which isn't 75% but still a lot higher than 0%, which is what the league is moaning about).

Be slightly funny if the FFF makes them cancel all these deals.

Apparently Liverpool have signed Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo for 9 million euros.

I guess even if Andy Carroll wants to compete at Liverpool he might not be given an opportunity

He'd almost signed for Valencia in January, but for some reason it didn't go through.

Chelsea were linked with him.

If the quotes from Suarez are true then we need to get rid while we can get a decent price for him. Complaining about the press when it's largely of his own doing is just idiotic.

The FFF has already lost it's battle to try and get Monaco to register in France. They are now trying to get Monaco to pay €200M for the privilege of playing in Ligue 1, which is basically blackmail.

Basically what Slash is saying is correct. The FFF is almost certainly going to lose if the issue goes to court.

Luis Suarez's agent has told Sky Sports Suarez remains happy at Liverpool and has no plans to leave in this transfer window.

Also apparently we have signed Luis Alberto Romero from Sevilla.

He's only saying he wants to stay because he implied he wanted to move to Real Madrid, and Perez said that Bale was a target and that Suarez 'might not work out'.

Quite a few saying Suarez has signed a 4 year deal at Madrid after they triggered a release clause, not sure if there's anything in it though.

Aside from that, i found this a funny read about Swindon and Adam Rooney
